TalkBack / RE: NOA Confirms American DS Titles

Whatever, Ian Sane. It's people like you that have driven me away from places like this.

TalkBack / RE: NOA Confirms American DS Titles
« on: October 07, 2004, 07:12:24 AM »
I'm with Steven on this one, so much that I'm not so sure I can trust Jonny anymore for Nintendo-related opinions. It doesn't matter to me that Nintendo is only releasing Super Mario 64 DS with the launch of the system. The fact that at least 10 titles are launching with the system speaks volumes for how high developer interest is in this system. Look back at Nintendo's history, and tell me how often at least 10 games have come out with the launch of a new system, handheld or otherwise. Yeah, not that often. And we can't forget about the Metroid demo and PictoChat both bundled with the system.

And I feel the wait for Nintendo's new batch of first-party titles will be well worth it. Animal Crossing DS? Wario Ware DS? A new Super Mario Bros. game? Advance Wars DS? Come on... who isn't dreaming of playing those titles already?

TalkBack / RE:Nintendo DS Attracts Worldwide Developers
« on: May 06, 2004, 04:35:01 PM »
Both amazing and great for Nintendo fans like myself. Sure, I know the games have yet to be unveiled and we have to wait almost a week to see the system in action, but to think that this many developers have signed on to make games for a system that many had so foolishly written off when first announced simply is refreshing to know. You could even say an old adage applies here: If you build it, they will come.

I'll admit... much of what I heard on the PSP has left me questioning the potential success of that system. Again, there is still E3 next week and the debut not being until Winter 2005, but if I were to judge solely on initial impressions, by far the DS stands out as my next handheld system of choice.

TalkBack / RE:Homebrew e-Reader Games hit the Scene

Hasn't worked for me so far. It looks like from what I can tell that my printer is printing the code too dark, making it unrecognizable to the e-Reader.

But I'll keep plugging at it. It's fortunate that I know how to change a variety of settings on my printer.

Finally, more brand new levels for SMB3 without having to wait forever for Nintendo to release the next pack of cards!

That is... once people start coding their own levels. Until then, I wait in anticipation.

I concur. TechTV isn't as good as it was before 2003 started, but I watched Call for Help every afternoon and sometimes watched The Screen Savers as well, even though most of the good people from there have nowadays gone elsewhere (or places that have just ruined them, in Morgan's case of moving to X-Play)

As PaleZer0 said, if they remove my favorites and replace them with crappy copies of X-Play that are merely designed to attract people my age, then I'll be seriously ticked.

TalkBack / RE:Pikmin 2 to Support the e-Card Reader?
« on: March 18, 2004, 02:09:32 PM »
Expandability is good most of the time. PC gamers can relate with me on this. Let's hope this will hold true for the game's U.S. release. I've always believed from the beginning that the e-Reader can unlock a lot of potential if used properly. Just look at Super Mario Bros. 3 for the GBA. The mere fact that you can add new levels, and sometimes new powerups, is good enough to add just a little more life to an already spectactular game.

It's just a matter of when Nintendo will ever stop and realize just the kind of potential they may be leaving locked as a result of keeping the e-Reader on the backburner (considering there hasn't been a major release since the SMB3 and Pokemon Battle cards in October 2003).

All of a sudden, my decision to sit on both Wario World and Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour is looking very good.

Another heartless attempt to give companies like Nintendo and Microsoft no place in gaming. Seriously, I can't help but think Sony has mangled the minds of these so-called gaming journalists and have them take a turn for the worse...

Because it has not yet proven to be a profitable form of gaming. Can't argue with that.

TalkBack / RE:Iwata on DS Connectivity
« on: March 02, 2004, 07:43:13 AM »
Iwata might be thinking what I am thinking, that innovation seems to be taking a backseat in gaming where games based on non- and/or semi-original ideas, including crappy licensed titles, are shaping up to be the norm in gaming. Say what you will, but he does have a point. Even if it's working out, I just don't feel that's the way gaming should shape out to be. The industry needs new innovations every once in a while, and it's easy to see how Nintendo believes in this stance.

Say what you will, but so do I. Let's hope all this works out. It's terrible to dream of a future where people suddenly hail *insert stupid game based off license here* as the greatest game of all time over Nintendo's original and well-thought ideas.

TalkBack / RE:More GameCube Accessories Before New System
« on: February 09, 2004, 03:52:10 PM »
It really ticks me off when the press tries to put down Nintendo with every single opportunity they can get. Seriously, the gaming press needs to stop acting so biased and actually think before they speak. Who knows? Nintendo may have an interesting enough next generation to make all the press eat up their own words. Especially in this article where it sounded quite contradictory from beginning to end.

Until that time, although I'm glad Nintendo denied these claims as always, I am thoroughly disgusted at most (I repeat: most) of the gaming press as they act like Sony/Microsoft drones, and I will remain disgusted until people start to take Nintendo seriously.

TalkBack / RE:Burnout 3 Swerves to Miss GameCube
« on: February 09, 2004, 08:53:04 AM »
This is incredibly stupid, especially given EA's healthy support to the GC over last year. I seriously hope they reconsider, much like how Acclaim did with Burnout 2, otherwise I may just rethink how I feel about this company as a whole.

Now I'm gonna wait it out before I say it will be awsome or Crappy or just plain average (and thats normaly not the case) but there were a bunch of people who said  Zelda Wind waker would just flat out suck because of cell shading and look at it now. ratings of 10. by almost every magazine. So I say Nintendo knows what they are doing.

That's how I pretty much feel. Some people seem to forget about that Wind Waker deal, and as you say, look how it has turned out. Some sources even gave it the title of Best Game of 2003!

Obviously Nintendo sees something in this concept that would make them design a whole new system around it, otherwise they wouldn't be announcing it at all. All I'm doing is waiting until E3 before all final judgment is pressed forward. This is something that gaming sites like IGN and GameSpot are failing to do, and naturally, it's making me lose credibility in sites like that.

Not to mention The Wind Waker beating Vice City, even if it was an older game (Vice City that is).

TalkBack / RE:Burnout 3 coming from EA
« on: January 20, 2004, 05:20:42 PM »
Outstanding indeed. I have always adored the highly underrated Burnout series ever since playing the first game. It's one of the few racing games out there that can stand up to legendary classics like RC Pro-Am and Sega Rally 2. And with EA as a publisher (even though Criterion does a large majority of the game as developer), I'm sure the third game will not disappoint at all.

I'm pretty much with the general consensus. The new site looks fantastic, but they desperately need to fix their server or whatever the heck it is that is causing the extremely slow speed.

TalkBack / RE:Surprises from Nintendo in the Future
« on: November 07, 2003, 07:20:48 AM »
Oy gevalt... I'll be spitting mad if that article does indeed tell the truth about no more Mario games for GC.

I'm not surprised to hear, however, that Nintendo probably won't make a GBA2 to combat against PSP. They should do what they did during the SNES days... insert special chips inside games that give the GBA extra potential while its rivals make the new hardware. Much like in games like Star Fox and Donkey Kong Country.

It's cost-saving measures like that which helped the SNES gain an edge around the mid-90s. I don't see why the strategy wouldn't work for GBA.

It's also puzzling to me as to why TMNT doesn't allow 4 players for multiplayer gameplay. Trust me, that would've been exciting, just like in the original arcade game from the late 80s. Surely it wouldn't have hurted Konami to sneak this feature into the GC and Xbox versions...

Oh well, aside from that, it looks like a great game. I'll have to try it out soon.

Awesome move by Namco, especially by packing it in with R: Racing Evolution (and Pac-Man World 2, but I have that for PS2...). Now I just gotta convince a couple friends of mine to play this game with me in their free time.

Sizzling circuits!!!

Words cannot describe how excited I am about this, especially since I've dreaming of a game like this for over five years. And with all those extra features that is being promised, this is definitely more than just a retro compiliation disc. This is the ultimate present a Mega Man fan could wish for.

Thank you so much, Capcom!

It's about darn time somebody picked up those Rare GBA titles for release. It's especially nice to know that we'll see Banjo-Kazooie: Grunty's Revenge before the end of the year!

Although I'm gonna concur with TYP on one thing, they're making a Mr. Pants game!? My goodness, somebody there thought it was a good idea. Underwear-loving people take notice!
(Yeah... I know that joke was pure crap.)

TalkBack / RE:Nintendo announces new games, rewards
« on: August 07, 2003, 04:03:52 PM »
Awesome stuff there, especially with word that Namco is making a Donkey Kong game for Nintendo. Geez... we have Soul Calibur 2 with Link, a Pac-Man game with GBA connectivity, the new Star Fox game coming next year, and now this new DK game! Namco must really like Nintendo, and vice versa, if you ask me. ;-)

And it'll be interesting to see a GC version of Wario Ware. That game is infinite amounts of fun on the GBA!
