Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance will feature a secret ending, series creator and director Tetsuya Nomura revealed in an interview with Famitsu.

According to Nomura, the secret ending will be tied to the next game in the series, much like previous games in the series. In addition, it will have a shocking revelation that will play a big part of the story in the next game. Nomura also said that the regular ending of the game will go in a different direction from the rest of the series.

Alongside the secret ending confirmation, the interview revealed a local multiplayer "Dream Eater battle mode." In the game, players will be able to train their Dream Eaters to fight against other players.

So, two different endings, for two different series directions.  Smart, that gives them even more options.

My god my head hurts from all this. I still need to play re:coded and birth by sleep to figure out the rest of the story! I watched re:chain of memories on youtube cuz i hated the card system. I might have resort to that again..

Unfortunately that's more likely to be true in the coming years than not.  I'm continually astounded by Square-Enix's refusal to just make Kingdom Hearts 3 on the consoles and be done with it.  It's not like that would preclude the handheld games from being made, and I thought Birth By Sleep did a satisfactory job of setting up a Kingdom Hearts 3...and then it turned out that ending was just leading into a proposed Birth By Sleep sequel.  Bleh.

Yeah, the problem with the handheld games is that they ALL tie into the main narrative somehow, and Kingdom Hearts 3 will likely play off of any game in the pipeline, so if Kingdom Hearts 3D is really the last game before the third game, it will heavily reference it.

Kingdom Hearts 3D exist because Sora and Riku need to pass the Mark of Mastery so they can defeat Xenahort once and for all. Unless they pull out some crap that they failed to explained (like they always do), this should be it.

I haven't enjoyed a Kingdom Hearts game more then the Original.  All the other ones are not as good.  I  haven't even been able to force myself through the Handheld ones I got.  The one for the DS I enjoyed to where I got to and just got tired of it.  An example of a game that went on to long.

To me, the first Kingdom Hearts game was the game that threw me back into the Disney fandom after I had almost abandoned it due to thinking that it was silly kids stuff. The story, while complex, was very simple and easy to follow. There was also a thrill of discovery that no other game has been able to replicate. Yeah it has a lot of issues, many that were corrected in the sequels,  but it was a simpler, more innocent game, and thus made it very charming.
