Pandora's Tower Announced for Wii
« on: January 28, 2011, 12:04:57 PM »

And that's about all we know.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/24966

Pandora's Tower, a new game for Wii from Nintendo, was announced at a Nintendo investors meeting in Japan today.

A teaser site has been opened, with the following mysterious words:

Pandora's Tower
Until I Return to Where You Are
Who's happier? The person who dies beautiful or the person that lives ugly?
Scheduled for Release Spring 2011

Not much else was said about the title, other than that it is nearly finished and will release in Spring in Japan. The company plans to gradually release more information about it over the next couple months.

What do you base that on? We don't know anything about the game.

Yeah, considering Nintendo's track record for giving the US games on the Wii, I'm not holding my breath either.

Worried about a game drought for 2011 Nintendo? What about the following games?

Project H.A.M.M.E.R.
Disaster Day of Crisis
Fatal Frame IV
Trace Memory Wii
Cosmic Walker
Zangeki no Reginleiv

Iwata supposedly said that they have lots of unannounced titles for Wii coming this year. Not sure if that is just for Japan or if that would include games that have not made it out of Japan yet too.

If I recall correctly there was a project that made a translation for Fatal Frame IV. If this game is good enough I think there would be another team trying to made a translation for this one too.

http://www.fatalframe4.net/

If you're interested in the Fatal Frame 4 patch... you need an SD card with about 3 gigs (2 if you have a homebrew channel) and a copy of Fatal Frame 4 (I think the patch gets rid of the NTSC-J encoding for the -U platform though. I do look to see if they're any JP only Nintendo games that have been patched so the rest of the world can read it (Though maybe we'll get lucky with Pandora's Tower and they'll give us an English text setting like they did in games like Super Mario Sunshine.)

I think it is rather sad that there is an immediate assumption that this game will not come to the US.  We don't know who is making this game or what it is about or what type of game it is but we make the assumption just the same because of a recent pattern of games not being translated.  Come on, Nintendo, you should not have this sort of reputation!

Remember when Nintendo localized Advance Wars and Fire Emblem after years of them being Japan-only?  That's the sort of Nintendo I want to see.

Project H.A.M.M.E.R.
Disaster Day of Crisis
Fatal Frame IV
Trace Memory Wii
Cosmic Walker
Zangeki no Reginleiv

Project H.A.M.M.E.R and Cosmic Walker were both canceled games so they're never being released.  Iwata has banned Fatal Frame IV from ever being released outside of Japan until Tecmo fixes the glitches in the game.  Reggie refuses to release Disaster because he says the game is terrible and it'll bomb here just like in Europe.  http://www.infendo.com/fils-aime-tells-ign-disaster-isnt-a-50-game/

The DS version of Trace Memory did the worst in North America and after the Wii version bombed in Japan and Europe where the DS version did much better, it's no surprise to see why NOA won't bring that game over.  Zangeki no Reginleiv is a niche game that involves dismembering your enemies and requires Motion+ as well as quite a bit of text and voice work to localize, so it's no surprise while that's not coming over either.

So yeah, there's a reason why each of those games is never coming to North America.

Cosmic Walker has never been canceled (they haven't mentioned the game in a long time, but officially it is still under development).

Considering it's development studio Gaia has fallen off the face of the Earth and Nintendo has removed Cosmic Walker from their upcoming games for a while now, it's pretty safe to say the game has been canceled.

I am not saying it isn't likely vaporware, just saying that officially it still exists (and hey, Kirby has been listed in development for like 7 years but is finally coming out).

if this game is a first-party developed game, than it's most likely coming to the West.

If but that were the case, but that hasn't always been true.

Regardless, we don't know the developer but it is likely that Monolith is behind this title.

I doubt that monolith soft or mistwalker are working on this game. Satoru Iwata announced this game at a financial meeting with the executive of both monolith soft and mistwalker. Satoru said the they (As in Nintendo) have been working on this game. Xenoblade has been confirmed to come to the west (Also announce at the Nintendo financial meeting). And that's a first party game.

You have a few details incorrect.

Xenoblade isn't "confirmed to come to the west." Monado showed up on the release list as "TBA" for North America. It has been on these lists, for North America, for quite a long time. As of yet, nothing has come of it.

Monolith Soft is OWNED by Nintendo. So if Monolith Soft is making it then Nintendo is making it.

first off i did have one detailed incorrect which was Xenoblade being confirmed to the west, however i did have the other detail correct in which Xenoblade is a first-party game. obviously because Monolith Soft is owned by Nintendo.

anyway my whole arugement is that i think that Monolith Soft isn't making this game, and that Nintendo is (as in Nintendo EAD.) the reason why i think that is because (again in my previous comment) Satoru Iwata announced this game in Nintendo's 2011 Investor Meeting with Mistwalkers' Hironobu Sakaguchi and Monolith Soft's Tetsuya Takahashi. i from what i heard, that meeting was also about deciding which game will come to the West first. Xenoblade or The Last Story.
