Wii shop suggestions
« on: September 26, 2012, 06:07:53 PM »
Hey people,

I have currently got 9300 wii points lol and was wanting to get some recommendations :). I actually got these points for free as I have been doing the wii ambassador promotion which is only in the uk, Australia and New Zealand. I currently have 19 people I have helped and once I get 20 ill get all the nes, snes and n64 games from Nintendo :) so bear that in mind when recommending games for me. Ps am a huge rpg fan so if any good ones please tell me.

Oh my goodness! 9300 Wii Points?!?!

So, to re-iterate... You're looking for WiiWare/VC recommendations, your favorite genre is rpgs, and you're already getting Nintendo first party games, so we need to suggest third party titles?

Land Stalker
Phantasy Star I, II, III, and IV
Beyond Oasis
Ys Book 2 and 3
Secret of Mana
Breath of Fire II
Final Fantasy I, II, and III
Ogre Battle March of the Black Queen
Ogre Battle 64
Shining Force I and II
Faxanadu

Not sure how many points that adds up to... but it might help you get started.

I played Phantasy Star IV and I LOVED IT. But maybe I was just really in need of an old-school 16-bit rpg...

Anyways, have you considered...

Street Gangs (aka River City Ransom? It's a brawler/beat-em-up with RPG elements and SHOPPING)
The Legend of Mystical Ninja (A very challenging action/adventure game, but with VC auto-save between sessions, infinite continues, and someone playing co-op it's a challenge that can be beaten)
Harvest Moon (More Sim than RPG but I LOVE THIS SERIES. This was Animal Crossing before there was Animal Crossing)
Zombies (aka Zombies Ate My Neighbors, more an action game, but with co-op and a methodical, level-based pace that makes it more engaging than run-and-gun)
Ignition Factor (Again, less RPG, more 16-bit era Firefighter Sim. Rewards planning and learning levels to beat them completely)
Chew Man Fu (Not an RPG, but sue-me, this Ball-Rolling (as opposed to Crate-Pushing) puzzle game is GREAT!!!)

I just want to second the following

Faxanadu
Shining Force 2
Secret of Mana
Street Gangs
Final Fantasy 3

and I would also recommend the following.

UFouria
Blaster Master
Castlevania IV
Mega Man 1 -5
Mega Man X 1-2
Act Raiser
DoReMi
Contra 3
Monster World 4
Sin & Punishment
Lord of Thunder
Pulseman

...

To be honest there's way too many awesome games on VC. You're in for a treat.

World of Goo - puzzle-y
Nyx Quest - platform-ey
Neither are RPGs but they are 2 of the best of WiiWare.

We almost forgot all about WiiWare guys! Thanks for the reminder Mr. Hutt!

How about...

Final Fantasy IV: The After Years (I've never played it, but I've heard good things)
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a Darklord (A unique, strange game, almost like a Tower Defense, but really neat in its own way!)
Phoenix Wright Series (Investigate point-and-click adventure type... just cause I love 'em so)
Tales of Monkey Island Series (A bit buggy, but GREAT point-and-click adventure gameplay and story! ... again, listed because of my irrational love for it...)
Swords & Soldiers (More of a 2D RTS, but very good at what it is if you're into some light strategy gaming)

Good suggestions, Kairon.
Monkey Island reminded me that I forgot to recommend:
Strong Bad's Cool Games for Attractive People
Very funny writing, really good interface, very fun point-and-click adventures. There are 5 episodes. I like them all.

I like Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King better, but either is a good choice.
