Upcoming Wii exclusive The Conduit will include the voice talent of Hollywood veterans Mark, A. Sheppard, Kevin Sorbo, and William Morgan Sheppard.

Popular series like Metal Gear Solid and Half Life have demonstrated that strong voice acting can substantially improve a game's presentation. On Tuesday, High Voltage Software announced a star-studded voice-over cast for their upcoming first-person shooter The Conduit.

The Conduit will feature the voice talent of a number of popular actors from television and film. The main character, Mr. Ford, will be voiced by Mark A. Sheppard. Sheppard is well-known for his portrayal of the blind attorney Romo Lampkin in Battlestar Galactica, and for playing the crime boss Badger in Joss Whedon's Firefly.

Another acclaimed actor who is lending his voice to the game is Kevin Sorbo, who portrays the terrorist Prometheus. Sorbo played the lead character in both Hercules: The Legendary Journeys and Andromeda.

Rounding out the cast is William Morgan Sheppard, who will speak for the character John Adams. Past credits for William Morgan Sheppard include The Prestige, Babylon 5, Metal Gear Solid 2, and Escape from Monkey Island.

The Conduit will hit store shelves in the first quarter of 2009.

THE CONDUIT GOES HOLLYWOOD

High Voltage Software announces the voice-actors appearing in The Conduit

Hoffman Estates, IL – October 14, 2008 - High Voltage Software, Inc., one of the world's largest independent developers, today officially revealed the Hollywood voice-over cast of their exciting first-person action shooter, The Conduit.

A British-born actor and musician, Sheppard's TV credits include Battlestar Galactica, 24, Medium, Firefly, Burn Notice, CSI and The Bionic Woman. His film credits include Unstoppable, Evil Eyes, and In the Name of the Father.

"I think the story in this [The Conduit] is fantastic," said Sheppard. "I think there's a lot there for the player to enjoy."

William Morgan Sheppard puts his incredible voice to the character of John Adams. William Morgan Sheppard spent 12 years as an Associate Artist with the Royal Shakespeare Company. His TV credits include Star Trek: The Next Generation, Babylon 5, and Kingdom Hospital. His film credits include Star Trek VI, The Prestige and Transformers. "It [The Conduit] has a resonance to it as a story;" said Morgan Sheppard. "It's really quite exciting… and very well written."

Last and definitely not least is Kevin Sorbo, who stars as the voice of the terrorist Prometheus. Sorbo is an American actor best known for the roles of Hercules in Hercules: The Legendary Journeys and Captain Dylan Hunt in Andromeda. His film credits include Kull the Conqueror, Avenging Angel, Prairie Fever, Meet the Spartans and An American Carol.

Ooo Hercules!
Don't quite understand the hoopla to say you have talent from Hollywood; the regulars at Bang Zoom! Studios and some other ADR places are from there as well.

Anyway, does this even have a publisher yet? I wonder if High Voltage broke their own bank a bit for the voice overs.

They are supposed to announce the publisher any day now. My guess is that they have one but aren't revealing them just yet for whatever reason.

Because keeping everyone in the dark about announcements is what the cool kids do.

also, lollin at Kevin Sorbo. Bargain basement TV actors are going to make the game awesome?

The main character guy was great on Battlestar Galactica, I really wish they'd used him in more than the few episodes they did.

But it was fun and mildly iconic.

None of these actors are huge names, but their inclusion makes the sci-fi geek in me excited. The Conduit is now turning into a made-for-tv Sci-Fi Channel movie.

Ew, a "Sci-Fi Channel Original"? That really shouldn't get anyone excited. In fact, I think you just doomed this game by making the parallel.

The jinx is on! Will it come true when March 2009 arrives?

Anyway, I think top shelf game level voice over preformances can stand toe to toe with some live action counter parts.
(That's probably my bias getting the better of me.)

There's a difference, we're not playing this game to get an amazing story. I think the Sci-Fi Channel allusion doesn't pertain to the gameplay at all.

I don't remember which of the Hercules ACTION PACKED movies had that village of Amazons chasing after him, but that movie was killer.

Hi. I do think it is:

Hercules and the Amazon Women

It was the first of the movies I believe. (I forget which order they came in).

Don't really care... I would prefer that games use cheap, unknown actors who actually have talent and care about the role as more than a random day of work.  Movie star actors rarely sound good in a gaming context, and the same goes for overused anime actors like Cam Clarke, etc.

LOL, Hercules and Xena was made up the road from where I lived all. I watched it back then before switching to Xena. It was dumb fun show.

While I have no clue where voice actors come from, I don't think they come out of no where. Part of the problem in the US is that Voice actors don't get that much respect in comparison to their Japanese counter parts. But considering how good even an average VA is in Japan, I am not surprised. In the US there are just not that many good VA's hence we always get the same people, over and over again.

As a Kiwi, I wish Sorbo luck, but I am not expecting much.

I did think for 2 secs they got Morgan Freeman, but that was some sort of alternate reality moment.

exactly, it was a pre-spiderman raimi production.  Goofy and awesome.  Spiderman 1 & 2 took that away and did not feel related to him at all.

Wasn't there a Spider-Man 3 as well? Really, the problem with the Spider-Man films were mostly bad casting and an overuse of CGI. I want my Evil Dead IV!!!

Sorbo was alright in Kull the Conquer.

I actually kind of liked SM3 because it's a goofy through back to younger Raimi.  The cheesy, cocky Peter Parker scenes were hilarious.

Did you read the press release?  These aren't exactly big names.  I'd say they are unknown actors to 98% of the population.

ahahahah I'm wondering what is it in the press release that warrants the label "talented" as "voice actors".  They're cool actors and all, but i'm not familiar with their voice work.

Well Sorbo and Mark A. Sheppard haven't really did any voice acting but William Morgan Sheppard has done quite a bit of it both for gaming and animated shows.

All TV shows are dubbed here so I can't say what his voice acting is like.
