Disney makes some great cartoons, but "NO ONE" beats bugs. I say Bugs Bunny for President. I mean hey we have a clown why not a rabbit.

Disney.

I mean cmon, THE BEAR IN THE BIG BLUE HOUSE! I love that show! what? its awesome

The Lion King also rocks, yeah im teh kiddeh wowowow. Oh, you were talking about funny cartoons. Donald Duck and Goofy are hilarious, and i never cared much for loony tunes. Disney win. Plus all those other disney shows that i cant quite remember at this point in time.

And i hope this doesnt get locked, i wouldnt mind a little Disney vs Looney Tunes debate. Although the name of the topic just screams "lock me" :\

Give me Looney Tunes anyday.
But the Disney movies are definitely something special. Monsters Inc and the Lion King are two of my favourite all-time movies.

How about "Who would win in a foxy boxing match: Looney Tunes or Disney?" Or not.

Well, what Disney are you talking about? I'm going to assume you mean their old theatrical cartoons, since you can't exactly compare full length movies with 7 minute shorts. In that case, Loony Tunes, easily. I regard Loony Tunes as the greatest animated cinema ever created by mankind, and I seriously doubt anything will surpass it. Disney's cartoons were also extremely good, and no less influential for the time period, but I just liked the zaniness of Loony Tunes so much more.

Disney now SUCKS- if Walt Disney were alive today, he'd kill himself. The ONLY good animation to come out under the Disney name in the last 5 or 6 years is Pixar's stuff (which is very good), but Pixar was only contracted to make the movies, so they can't be considered Disney's. Otherwise, Disney has lost all sight of what made their earlier stuff magical, and have resorted to ripping themselves off, both theatrically and on home video (why must they tarnish EVERY Disney classic with a money grabbing sequel)? I have absolutely no respect for Disney's animation anymore.

Well, if I had just seen the beginning of this thread, I'd lock it, but the responses are pretty substantial.  I'm changing the subject.  Hopefully people will continue to make good points and not just put out  quick one-liners.

Agreed.  Tarzan was the last Disney cartoon I thought was any good and before that it was The Hunchback of Notre Dame.  I look at the stuff they make now and just shake my head in disgust.  Treasure Planet?!  Why not just make Treasure Island?  And I know it's not because of nostalgia or anything.  I've seen the classics of my childhood like The Little Mermaid and Alladin as an adult and they totally hold up.  The really classic stuff from the 30s and 40s is even better and just beats the crap out of any animated film of today.  If Disney just stopped making so many direct-to-video movies (which ALWAYS suck) and stopped trying to be so hip and trendy with their animated movies they could probably get back to at least the calibur they were at in the early 90s.

As for which is better, Looney Toons or Disney, well that depends on what you're comparing.  If you compare the Bugs Bunny shorts to the Mickey Mouse shorts Bugs wins by a landslide.  The Looney Toons shorts were just incredibly hilarious.  However there's never been a Looney Toons full length film that can hold up to the all time Disney classics like Snow White.  Those are the best animated anything ever.  So if I had to choose between classic full length Disney animated movies and classic Looney Toons animated shorts I'd go with Disney but on a short for short comparison it's Looney Toons all the way.

Oh and Pixar is amazing.  They are to computer animation what the old Disney studio was to hand drawn animation.

Roger Rabbitt!

Roger Rabitt had both Looney Toons and Disney in it and the very hot Jessica Rabbitt, if there ever was a doodle that i could destroy the universe with it be her...maybe hollywood(cool world )....but Jessica Rabitt has it over her.

Thanks Bloodworth...

I agree , Disney used to be better , but in my eyes so did Looney tunes , Alot of them seem the same , although there are some classic episodes in my eyes , ( does anybody remember the episode where sylvester was hiding away from a Massve dog in a junk yard , each time the massive dog entered the junkyard he would be kicked out by some mysterious beast )

Alladin is a classic , Mermaid I never really enjoyed , Lion King is a classic , I dont think I have many anyone who does not like the Lion King , I feel soooo sad when Muafasa dies etc..

I agree with what Ian and them said.  Disney has gone steadily downhill, and the only ones I look forward to nowadays are Pixar's stuff.  The best of Looney Tunes does not beat the best of Disney, but there is more good Looney Tunes than Disney.  Did I make that understandable?

And Who Framed Roger Rabbit is one of my favorite movies of all time.  Great movie.

um i loved the emperors new groove...and pixar has absolutely torn it up since toy story. there are some other random disney movies that are alright...a lot of older movies were good, and sure some of the looney toons stuff was good, but overall disney is better i would say.

THe Emperor's New Groove was good, but you have to remember it started off as a serious, stock Disney movie that has been typical from them as of late.

I don't think I need to even state my opinion on Loony Tunes- you all know I regard it as the greatest animated cinema ever to grace mortal eyes.

Of Disney's recent movies (90s to now), Hunchback, Pocahontas, and all those worthless sequels are the worst. Everything else is tops. Of their oldie movies, I like Lion King and Aladdin the best. OF their REALLY old ones, I love Robin Hood

I've seen Lion King 2, and it just...sucks. I ain't seen the other sequels, and I don't wanna.

Loony Tunes is great in the shorts dept. I mean, who can compare to the total chaos when Wilie chases Roadrunner, Sylvester chases Tweety (or that kangaroo ), or how Elmur Fudd chases Bugs. That opera thing with Bugs and Elmur is pure genius

Who framed roger rabbit was a brilliant combination of Looney Tunes and Disney. And I still have dreams about Jessica Rabbit.......I hear she has a blonde sister/cousin/partner/friend
I mean, she was probably the start of cartoon porn in the west .

Disney has become one of the creators of cool......I mean, Lizzie McGuire? Kim Possible? Walt Disney WOULD have a heart attack! Girls that are kickass spies but yet JUST manage to get some time in for shopping and boys! SHOCK HORROR! Girls that wear slutty clothes just to go to school - thats the reason why I've started to like Spongebob a little more. I saw a pic of Kim Possible in the foxtel guide, and she has a virtually non-existent waist.
..........
I've ranted enough.

Dude, Lion King and Aladdin are some 10 years old, and Robin Hood (which is one of my favorite movies) is only around 30 years old. Movies like Snow White, Disney's first theatrical movie, are approaching 70 years of age.

By far my favorite Disney movie, and indeed one of my favorite movies of all time, is 101 Dalmations. I liked every single aspect of that movie, and it really personified the term greater than the sum of its parts, because it most certainly was. I can watch that movie all day every day and never get tired of it.

Termin8, since when did you care how scanty women's clothing was?

Yeah, Disney is really getting on my nerves.  So are all the Dr. Seuss movies they're coming out with.
My only salvation?  That new Looney Tunes movie has potential.  Looks dumb, but who knows?  I'll try to see it.
