A new movie I suggest people check it out is Rosedale.  It's low budget direct-to-DVD horror/action movie about a cult trying to sacrifice a victim to summon a demon.  The victim's only hope is Victor Whiskey, a gun toting badass who specializes in the occult.

One the key reasons I have an interest in this film is that I'm in it!  I play the leader of the cult.  The film was written and directed by my brother.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned it yet, but starting on Sunday, Science Channel is rerunning Firefly.
I really hope that it does well, so they can make either a second season or a new movie (minus my two favorite characters  :'( ).
But first Joss needs to finish Dr. Horrible 2. ;D

Super - indie film from the guy behind Slither
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ctcURFb7XE4
Starring Rainn Wilson, Ellen Page, Nathan Fillion, Kevin Bacon and more
it's like the lower budget version of Kick Ass only not quite the same

and I know what you're thinking after watching that trailer....
a little less than sold so maybe you'll see it when it airs on the IFC, so here is a 2 minute clip from the movie that might change your mind.

Didn't get that Super 8 trailer when I watched  Battle Los Angeles. All I got was Fast Five, Priest, Conan the Barbarian, Bad Teacher, and three others that I can't remember at the moment.

I'm looking forward to Game of Thrones, as well as The Borgias on Showtime, which comes out April 3, and Camelot on Starz which debuts April 1.

I've mostly grown tired of what's on 'regular' T.V. With few exception (Fringe) it's all recycled stroylines and plebian drama. The shows on premium T.V (I'm also looking forward to the return of Nurse Jackie, and The United States of Tara) push the envelope with new ideas and relatable drama. Anyway, that's my two cents.

Did you happen to see Pillars of the Earth based on Ken Follet's novel of the same name on Starz? That stuck close to the book, but felt rushed and different.

Then there's True Blood on HBO, which stuck close to the first Sookie Stackhouse book for the first season, swayed away in the second, and only used the book as a base in the third season.

I say all that to say that I haven't read the books Game of Thrones is based on, and I'm glad I haven't. I'm so intrigued by the show that I want to, but I find reading the books after seeing the movie or show is better than the opposite.

That is a totally reasonable opinion. Personally, I've rad the books extensively, and I might actually be less able to appreciate the show because of it. The books are fantastic, though.

And I agree, Fringe is pretty good.

Netflix just knocked things up a notch. They're moving into original programming.

Quote
First they came for your brick-and-mortar Blockbusters, then they gunned for your pay cablers, and now they’re making a bid to become their very own network: Netflix has just made a surprising move into original programming by outbidding the likes of HBO and AMC for the rights to House Of Cards, David Fincher’s adaptation of the British book and miniseries of the same name. Acquiring the drama (which, as previously reported, stars Kevin Spacey as a ruthless politician) reportedly cost Netflix an estimated $100 million up front and a commitment to two seasons at 26-episodes—the sort of deal no one’s ever had the guts to make before. Obviously it’s an expensive gamble, but more importantly, it’s one that could herald the tectonic shift from traditional TV networks toward an Internet-based, streaming future should it prove successful. Next up: Netflix handles your dreams.

Actually, they already did original movies through their Red Envelope Entertainment label (which they shut down in 2008). This will be the first TV series they have made though.

wow, this move by netflix looks good for all of us. I'm so tired of getting invested into a show only to have it get canceled. If netflix can make these show up very visible on their front page they'll get hits by default, then it will be well worth the up front prices
