I know this game has raised quite a few eyebrows but it's really hard to say how many people even know about it. Formerly known as "Project Ego" Fable will be the first attempt at an RPG simulation.

Here is the "official fan site" http://www.planetxbox.com/projectego/ the real site hasn't launched yet. It's at least worth a look even if you detest the XBOX.

I think this game will fill the void Shenmue left me with after all the IGN hype. I loved Shenmue but I expected something more Fable-like.

i dont know about this game, usually when the video game maker boasts that it's "the greatest something of all time," it usually sucks. look at that ps game that was supposed to be a mraio killer and it totally blew. i think that they are going to call this one a FF killer.

it looks mighty impressive, and the idea behind it is inovative and.....i dont know.....just simply amazing. its like the sims meet final fantasy. it may turn out to suck, but if they can execute their idea well, it will be great. of course that is the toughest part, but i think this game may be totally ahead of its time. i wonder how it will be recieved.

Bad or not, I will still be buying it. I have to see how close they can meet the hype that all the internet has built up.

Er... Flop. It's being hyped up to be the best RPG of all time and I don't think anyone has even played it yet.

Innovative concepts, as great as they may sound, have little significance if executed poorly.

It's got some good ideas in it, that resemble Earthbound 64 in a lot of ways, but it's just not my style.  I have never liked American RPGs that much, as I always preferred the Japanese RPGs.  I can definately live without this game.

I dotn know Peter Molyneux(spelling) has made some awesome games. The game sounds like quality to me. It filled with all sorts of cool ideas. It will not be like FF.  Then again i remember Aidyn chronicles promised good things and it turned otu to be worse then hercules 64(actually that wasnt' half bad) which was made by the makers of superman64(we all know this game sucked balls..big green goblin balls)

but considerign where its coming from it could very well be good, now is the tiem where its hard to make extremely crappy games, systems are easy to program for and even low class games can be cool. I played this cheap MK ripoff fighting game(it wasnt teo feng either....teo feng...oooh) on an xbox kiosk, and suprisingly it was pretty decent. Im sure next generation all the crap will pretty much go far away into the sewers.  I mean what once was a technical delima in making a game is now going to be easy to pull off and the gameplay will benifit.

I am not sure if it will be the " best RPG " of all time...... BUT I am damn sure it will be a great game. I think if you are looking foward to Fable..... you can get a taste of a very similar RPG in a couple of months in STAR WARS Knights of the Old Republic. That game is looking seriously sweet and the RPG / THE Star Wars game to beat.

Um.... Starwars:KOTOR is NOTHING like Fable, please dont mislead people, they have nothing in common except they will both be good, besides that they are tottally different.

From every source I've read about Fable & Star Wars KOTOR...... you pick a character class, choose good or evil by your actions and interactions with NonPlayer characters , and start branching out from there.  As for universes.... Yes Star Wars is futuristic and Fable is more mythic.... BUT as RPGs go, similar types.

i believe that fable will be surpassing in many ways.... however, story not being one.  So in answer to the question, it will be one of the most unique experiences offered by an RPG but does not pull you, you must pull yourself.  I refer of course to Morrowind, who, while was a fantastic game, had no plot to worry over.

Marrowind had a plot if you choose to follow it.

Fable has a more loose plot but evoloves what you do. The characters act differently say different things. Supposedly there are some quest event you can take depending on which path you character is taking. If you like Black and White you'll more than likely like Fable. But I'm holding off my judgement until I can play some of it. Since I waited a long time for Black and White and it ended up haveing quite a few bugs in it.

thats exactly the plot i meant though, one that was there, but not one you had to follow, like GTA as well.

Unless its handled correctly such a game can get boring. I remember in Marrowwind my brother tried to go back and follow some of the story line and found he couldn't because he killed the wrong person.

That was the time when the game was put up on the shelf and it hasn't come down.

hey paladin, the same thing happened to my friend.  He was mad for awhile, but loves those kind of games, so just said screw the story and worked on his reputation.

I read nearly every single fable related article ever.

Peter reads our minds. seriously.

So do you think that we'd mess up the game eventually if we killed someone?  No and somehow he has plans for that.

If i could i would post a link but i think it's against the rules.

It all sounds very promising, but we won't know until it comes out.  Good concepts don't equal good games, I thought the concept behind Blinx was brilliant, but the final game doesn't seem to be particularly outstanding.
That's my opinion, not yours.

Another reason I think this game is going to be great is the broad appeal they are going for. They aren't going to complicate it with hit points and all that other tedious RPG jazz. The PR guy Deane Carter keeps mentioning they are going for a game that can be enjoyed even "after coming home from the pub". Finaly an RPG that might intrest people who have never played one before. Everyone should hope this game is a wild success because it opens up the door for games like it in the future. Who cares if (god forbid) it isn't on the system you own? There will always be great games on a system you don't own (the grass is always greener...). Imagine in 5-10 years there will most likely be mmorpgs with a similar engine to fable.

from what i gather it will be an action rpg..probably in the vein of zelda. The thing that makes it really cool and unique is the customiztion and the effects on the environment and character by what you do. It has a non linear story...but probably in a gta3 way where you only get into the story if you work at it.
