General Chat / IMPORTANT FOR ANY MATRIX FAN
« on: March 03, 2003, 03:51:23 PM »
Hehe...I'm assuming it was supposed to be a stream, but Download Accelerator dled it for me anyway. 90megs on dial-up- and totally worth the wait. That's the medium version, mind you. I can't wait till they put up Part II; I check the site everyday for it.

I absolutely love this game, and coincidentally restarted it last night, and I'm at the beginning of Maximillian's chapter. Ah...what fun.

General Chat / Miyamoto secretly a cult leader?!

I didn't think that looked like a salute, but wtvr...in any case, just know not to go further than you already have, but you probably do anyway...

Nintendo Gaming / Does the rest of your family play the cube?
« on: March 01, 2003, 06:25:45 PM »
I have devised the ultimate form of torture- not letting my little bros play SSBM all the time. It's an addiction with them, that will never be appeased...seriously, I need to get another WaveBird the way things are going. Other than that though, they don't play much GC. Lots of n64 and gba though, mostly Mario. They played Zelda on SNES for a while, but if you even touch the game slightly, it freezes, and game saves are deleted, so unless we keep it on all the time, we can't exactly progress. My father doesn't think much of videogames, understandably given his background. My mom doesn't really have the time I guess...but hey, you never know.

(ace- my first game was smw on snes too)

Happy Birthday PGC!
Grr! Well, at least the wait isn't that long....

But what can this 'mystery prize' be...you're not gonna take people to e3, that's too obvious...hmm...let the speculation begin.

TalkBack / Metal Gear Solid on GameCube - CONFIRMED
« on: February 27, 2003, 04:32:21 PM »
? Is this all the conformation PGC could get? We had our own thread discussing this, linking to the exact same page. Exactly how much more credibility does the Nintendophile have over us forum goers?

Anyway, not complaining. This could only be a good thing....right?

Nintendo Gaming / What are the plans for Serial Port #2?

What about the Game Eye? That has to go somewhere...(check PGC's hardware section...or better yet don't, since you won't learn much)

Nintendo Gaming / I am a 31 year old new GC owner
« on: February 23, 2003, 06:04:08 AM »
EA Sports is still with us for the most stuff; only the most obscure sports titles might not make the cut. In any case, you have a PS2, so you don't need to worry about sports. In fact, with the GC's pissant-tiny memory cards, you should probably stick with the PS2 version, unless you  know you're going to get the big third-party cards.

General Gaming / Your computer specs.
« on: February 22, 2003, 06:57:02 PM »
-AMD Athlon XP 1800+ (effectively 1900+)
-256MB DDR RAM, Crucial Micron (@141)- I really should upgrade this...
-Epox 8-HKA+ motherboard (Forget exact model number, truth be told)
-80GB 7200rpm IBM HDD
-Soundblaster Live!
-Altec Lansing ACS-48 Speakers
-KDS RAD-5 15" LCD
-GeForce3 Ti200
-Lite-On 40(W)/12(RW)/48x CD-RW
-Lite-On 16x DVD-ROM
-Windows XP Home
-300 Watt PSU
-Microsoft Intellimouse Optical

That's basically it I guess. Those Altec Lansings are the best value 2.1s ever(20Watts/channel, 40 Watts sub), it's a shame Altec stopped making them. (And that no company makes 2.1s with those kind of power ratings these days...)

General Gaming / sony delaying the ps3?
« on: February 22, 2003, 06:35:58 PM »
Yeah, but consider that Sony's Playstation department is it's most profitable, while electronic sales are stagnant and music is going down the crapper because of Mp3. If the PlayStation division took a hit because of a new system being released, the shareholders would not be happy,   nor would PS2 customers or 3rd party developers. If the PS3 (or whatever it's gonna be called) gets released within the next 2 years, I'd be shocked. The earliest they could release it is Q4 2005/Q1 2006. And if the PS2 is still viable by then(which it most certainly will be, unless hell freezes over) they could push it back even further, unless the competition races with them.

Nintendo Gaming / Is it just me, or is 1080 fugly?
« on: February 22, 2003, 06:11:53 PM »
JSR, that's a great interview, but Miyamoto was refering to the GBA/GCN link up when he said that about EA...

As for 1080, it looks a lot better than it used to, but it still needs work. If this is the final product, I'd be shocked. I wouldn't be surprised if the game is delayed, in the usual Nintendo fashion...

It would be quite foolish to revert back to those methods.  You are advocating the kind of things that people hate Microsoft for. Do you actually want there to be a game shortage? Nintendo doesn't have the monopoly, so in any case, it is impossible for them to use such tactics without shooting themselves in the foot.
Marketing however, is a different story.

General Chat / MP3 Players?
« on: February 18, 2003, 05:21:11 AM »
I don't know about MD...I have one, (non-NetMD, mind you)and it's great for recording, but the recording time with the Xitel thing is just insane. Granted this doesn't apply here, but it's a gripe all the same.

Plus, listening at 128/64 kbps is laughable as far as I'm concerned. And LP4 recording, which aoi tsuki mentioned is ~64kbps, not 128(which is LP2). Then there's the discs themselves- hardly portable if you're going to carry more than two or three. OpenMG which is used for transfering files, is supposedly a very annoying program, which has to convert your Mp3s to ATRAC3 format for the MD.

Right now, there isn't any perfect format out there....so either hold off, or get MD is you aren't concerned about the gripes I have with it.
