Well I dont know, the people funding the site like it how it is, but we ALL agree the BG doesnt mesh well but i do not know how to fix it. I tried solid colors but they look terrible. I guess all I can do is see if I can find a better picture witht he colors they want.


Even still we are trying to compete with gamefaqs, cheaplanet and gamewinners and we have to stand out from them. Its hard because no matter what change I make, I have to make that chnage to every single page and that takes extra hours I should be using to uload videos and create more game profiles, which I haven't started yet.

18Days, you do alot of website desgin or something, you seem to have the most vocal opinions and I am just curious. Well we are all getting to gether latter today to discuss the site so maybe we can make some decisions one way or another. If they like the look and dont want to make changes, I can't make changes.

I amnot arguing the insanity of it Ima saying that EVERYWHERE YOU GO you hear Xbox fans saying they HATE FF games, EVERY FORUM< EVERY WEBSITE EVERY TOWN EVERY STORE! why do YOU CARE!? WHatd oes it matter *TO YOU*? Why even argue? I have NEVER met ONE SINGLE Xbox fan who CARED about FF, EVER PERIOD, anywhere.

Have you? Maybe a handfuyll of die hard gamers but the MAJORITY of the Xbox crowd has been VERY VOCAL in not liking FF games. Lost in Blue, give me abreak that game is MS trying to save its skin in Japan, it has nothing to do with the Xbox fans its MS trying to *get* FF fans and RPG fans to buy an Xbox.

I havent kept up if its even out yet but I havent meant *anyone* who cares either way. Look I am not saying FF *WONT* got to 360, DIdI EVER SAY THAT! NO just that we *ALL KNOW* that it will NOT SELL int he same Numbers as it did on PS unless the FF Fans BUY an Xbox because *CURREN* Xbox fans DO NOT CARE FOR FF! YES i have resources iT called EVERY SINGLE XBOX FAN i have *EVER* met or talked to onluine feels *EXACTLY* the same way.

MY argument has NO HOLES IN IT you JUST refuse to accept I MIGHT be right about something.



What it *WILL* do if, BIG IF, it comes to 360 is push 360 sales UP so the FF fans can play FF because the *MAJORITY of them wont get a pS3, which I SAID ALREADY and you STILL argued against!  The DIE HARD Ps3 fans will STILL get it on PS3 and the DIE HARD gamers will STILL geta ps3 regardless of the price, weatherr you LIKE IT OR NOT!

That background I have had a problem with all along. But the others like it and want it int he site. I have been tryind to find a way to stretch it to look right, When I was in publisher I could do that but I had to save it as an image and insert it and stretch it that way, which messes up the entire site because I cant put i int he BG so it covers the whole page and looks way bad.

We are very serious about this website so we do take *all* feedback to heart. Aside form the text block commentts all of which i agree with, we chose that dark bg light text for a reason, the major sites we are competing against use light backgrounds and dark text and we want to stand out, but if it looks bad we can will change it. We spend hours working on color scemes and to be honest I didnt like any of them, but we sttled, which I dont like doin, on this sceme because everyone else on the group only visits gamespot and that is what they think a videogame website *should* look like. So I am up against a wall on that side of things. I dont have total freedom here I have to get every thing approved by the guys funding the site. Its thier money. But I do mention everything you guys tell me to them so I have some leverage cuz I am the "one with the experience" according to them.

Since the majority of websites seam to go with lighter bg I might be able to persuade them to accept that but everyone likes the silver and black themes so I will see what I can come up with. Thanks everyone.

It's not stereotypical, the majority of die hard xbox fans do not like FF or those types of games.

Dude DONT argue just for the sake of arguinggod damnint! IF anyone else had made that statement it would have been acceptable!

FF sells like S**T on Xbox, Xbox fans are VERY VOCAL about how much it sucks, that doesnt mean it wont GO to Xbox, which is what everyone seams to want for some unknown reason. But you *know* as mucha sI do it wont be a phenominal hit on that system *because* thier big fanbase is not interetse din those types of games, The people who got a ps2 for those games *will* get a ps3 also. Those people will buy all three systems.

Get over yourselves Damn I ams ick of arguing with peopel over things that are obvious. just f*&$ off.

I asked the guy who egts me software and he says we have dreamweaver already if I want it. He just installed server 2003 on his spare pc and we might consider running it from there and getting rid if the Yahoo hosting if we need the extra storage and badnwidth etc. Or we might still buy actual servers we are undecided.


I did get opera to work and it looks ok there, Didnt notice any overlap or anything.


I still can't get firefox to work. It keeps telling me the files are corrumpt, but I get them from thier official website. I might have to try a different site or something.

DMC went bancrupt in the early 80s so that analogy doesn't work to well.  I actually do have a cart copy of DKC, my sister likes it, but we dont have a working SNES right now so VC is all we have.

I won't comment on Piracy, but funding isn't a big issue, I have monetary backing for this so if there are better programs I would certainly consider them.

Publisher seams to be working better than page builder but I haven't figured out how to publish the pages to the site. So I did download site builder. That seams to work a lot better. I downloaded the entire site today using that and made some tweaks then re-uploaded it so the site is now coded using site builder instead of page builder. Am not sure if that makes a difference.


I do not know how to make tables, publisher and site builder have that option but I havent explored it much.

Site builder is NOT the same as pagebuilder. It seams to work a lot better.  What is dreamweaver and how do I get that? Is it all coding? I do not know that much html code, a little but not enough to do what I am doing. My friend who is also working on the site knows more about it than I do since he went to school for that.

To be honest I am not a real webdesginer, Ive always used page builder and frontpage and never even considered working on a *real* website until my freinds had this idea.

If you could check back and see if it looks better that would be greatly appreciated. I did convert everything into a , so far, better program so it should look better I think. I did download Opera and Netscape, firefox wont run for some reason, and so far they look the same as IE.

I don't want to alienate the MAC audience, however small they may be, so I DO want the site to look good on that. We have a copy of MAC osx something or other we have considered installing on one  of our spare pcs just to use it for testing, If we do that then I will have a better idea of how to fix the site.

Tables... that is going to drive me crazy trying to figure out how to make those. Every program I have uses boxes that you position on the screen.

Anyways I sincerely thank you for your comments 18days and I will continue to take yoru advice, I really do need this site to work and hopefully onces it gets going we can find someone else to help out and make it look stunning.

Will that run on a Windows pc? We have 95-vista on various PCs so if it works with any of those OSe we can run it.

See that must be your browser cuz there is no text overlap when I view the site.  Except when I am the Wii the site look terrible on Wii and I am trying to figure that out.

Ok well the Top banners I can fix because I linked to them from other sites and will look into that, the adbrite banners I cant change because they arent mine. Wehn i view them in the editor they are just small little blue boxes.

Also, I'm not sure on the legality of recordings of video games but you might want to look that one up too, especially in regards to cutscenes, should your site include any.<<

We have been given permission from Youtube to link to their videos, we contact each video director individualy and make sure we have thier permission, and we have contacted most major publishers and they do not have a problem with the site. We did our legal work before we started.



Final problem, a problem I think once fixed will fix ALL OTHER PROBLEMS.

It is either that or site builder, which I havent had experience using. We have Publsiher 2007 and *are* working on getting it to work with our site, but its nothing like the forntpage I learned on so Its a new experience. I sincrely thank you for yor comments I will continue to accpet all feedback, the problem is we have people who say it looks fine and they love it and then we have those who are ciritcal and those who are very critical and we have to balance all that out.

The question is does it look BAD, so bad you cant spend time there? THAT is what we need to consider. If it is easy to use and pleasnt to look at thats the most improtant aspect.

For now we have only been working on it for 2 weeks, and we aren't finished. What I don't get is why it can look fine in one browser and look terrible in another? I never did understand that, nor how to fix it. That is one erea i need to figure out. NWR looks GREAT when I use IE, but when I load Firefox it looks all scrambled and tied up in nots.

I don't know maybe its my computer. We test the site on the following computers, one with windows xp sp 2, one with linux and firefox, andone with vista and the new IE. On all of those the site looks the same, except on vista it looks stretched and has a HUGE gap on the right side of the page where we cant put anythng because it doesnt show up in our editor.


WHat Editor is most reccomended? Is SItebuilder decent? I downloaded it before but didnt take the time to learn it. I have publisher 07 but its so different from what I am used to Its not funny. I know I can upload pages saved in publisher but I iether have to activate it with Yahoo to publish the pages or I hvae to uplaod them to my servers, load them with PG and save and publish them that way.

Its a major headache. Thanks for the replies though and I do *really* appreciate your advice.

A graphical upgrade would be fine, or just releasing it on VC would be ok too. A sequel wouldn't be as magical as the first. BUt if they could improve the graophics then it would ROCK, what made MiGHTS so great was the style it had. It was like really being in a dream, and being obsessed with dreams, I loved it for that.

Well I am one who was impressed with DKC graphics back when it was new, but I hated Donkey Kong so much I wouldn't give it a try. None of my SNES owning friends (had only 2 btw we were a big Genesis  crowd) even had the game. I got to eperience it for the first time at a Sears who had the game set up as a demo. After a few minutes I decided it wasnt a game for me. Down the road when we got a SNES, just about the time N64 came out, we finally got the game cuz it was cheap, and my little sister enjoyed it but I never could get too into it. I wills till download it for my sister but likely wont play much myself.

WOW Sony Customer Service really is bad


We bought a TV from a store that wa Sony a couple months ago, the sales person told us the TV could support Progressive Scan and had Component Hook Ups, so we bought it cuz I wanted to hook the Wii up to it, its a flat screan tv and looks better than our old tv.

So ok I get it home, hunt down some Wii Component cables and hook it up set it for progressive scan and what do I see? a scrambled mess of a picture with no colors! I was pissed. SO I sent sony an email and asked whats wrong? Well their response was pretty straight forward.

not support Progressive scan while connected

SO in other words... My tv cant do Progressiv scan when hooked up using Component cables, but it depends on the input source? What does that mean? I thought the Wii *WAS* the  input source?

So I sent another email asking for clarification and all they sent back was the manual  for the TV which said resolution 1080i in big letters but small letters said 480i only!?!?! WHAT!? No mention of progressive scan anywhere excpet  "supports component resolutions via Progressive Scan Capable DVD Player"? Sony is so effing confusing.

Yeah everyone has different opinions though. I had Beyond Oasis on Genesis and for me it wasnt that bad but not great. It was a good game but there are better games out there. SPlatterhouse I remember playingbut not liking. Excitbike I hated but played a lot just cuz we had so few games and everyone else liked it. Since I can't keep up with all the VC games anyways I cant afford to get any of these until I get caught up so Ill be holding off for a while.

bnm2k1, Little Nemo was based on a comic strip, the movie came out *after* the game so it counts your good. Plus if you have played the game and watched the movie, I have both and love them both, you would know that they have major differences.

Um ok well I wanst acting tought, or meaning to, I meant that in seeing how you react to me online your be offended ifyou met me in real life. as for being a tought guy, I am not, nor would I claim to be.


And typing is hard, mispelling I make no excuse for, I try I *really do* but I must have poor vision cuz when I read my posts they look FINE, then when people comment about the errors I see, for the first time, the mistake and it usually confuses me cuz it doesnt look like that when I type it the first time.


But I wasn't trying to be a tough guy and I didn't mean to sound like that.
