General Chat / The Life of Ryan Redux! (you GOTTA see this)
« on: October 19, 2006, 06:16:25 PM »
Hey guys!  I've been a bit of a lurker here for quite a bit of time.  Well, I just wanted to show you guys that I  finally was able to put my masterpiece video, The Life of Ryan Redux, on Google videos.  It's a short movie my friends and I made in college about 4 years ago.  It's about a day in the life of me, only it's filled with game references - you're sure to love it.  The best compliment you could give me is just by watching it.  I thank any and all people who decide to watch it from the bottom of my heart.  So sit back and enjoy The Life of Ryan Redux courtesy of Google Video!

The Life of Ryan Redux

P.S. - feel free to show this to family and friends!  Please pass it along to anyone you think will like it.

TalkBack / RE:Nintendo Reveals More Wii Details
« on: June 07, 2006, 02:01:04 PM »
does that mean N64 games are going to be $9 max?  I would think that in the US, NES games are going to be $3 min, and $5 max (compare SMB1 to Kirby's Adventure) and then SNES games are going to be $5-10, (compare SMW to Yoshi's Island) and then N64 games are going to be $10-15 (Mario 64 to Zelda).  But then again - if ALL games are going to be in the price range of $3-10, encompassing all systems, then that's great news.

You guys can't forget to take 1 major thing into consideration:  Just like the NES games released on GBA, Nintendo likes to ramp up the prices as an unwritten "convenience fee."

I'll say it before, and I'll say it again:  I'm not paying for games I already own. (AND STILL PLAY!)

Uh, isn't that why they have GC ports on the top of the Wii?  To play GC games comfortably!?  This is the *CLASSIC* controller...it doesn't need analog sticks.  Especially if it's priced at like $15-20.

here's my mockup.  I guess it really doesn't make a whole lotta sense to put dual-analogs on the thing if you're making it so you can comfortably play classic games...  But again - it still had to retain functionality for ports, right?  and AGAIN isn't Nintendo kinda trying to dissuade game companies from making ports?  That's why they designed their new controller so different in the first place, right? and AGAIN, if a company wants to make a game that you would have dual-analog with, why wouldn't they utilize the remote-nunchuck function!? T_T  I don't get it....

TalkBack / RE: REVIEWS: Tetris DS

Just wanted to say how much I disagree with the sound category.  Tetris DS's music is absolutely pathetic.  An afterthought.  The DS can handle so much better, but the decided they'd just bank on crappy mixes of known music than to write GOOD ones.  Otherwise, your review is spot on.

the only question is... does the Gamecube-man not have to use a wavebird because he's got GC controllers for hands?

Am I the only who doesn't give a freakin' crap about playing GBA games on my DS?  I mean, have you guys even tried playing them on it?  Ever try playing any of the Megaman Zero games?!  They're next to impossible, because Nintendo was too stupid to have the foresight to give the DS the ability to let you map your buttons to whatever you want on the gamepad.  That would have taken, oh, what, 5 lines of code to produce!?  And the buttons are hella-small, too - so it's kinda crappy playing a GBA game on a DS - esp. when I can just pull out my real (afterburner) GBA any time I want and play all of my GBA games, COMFORTABLY on them... I'm still waiting to fully experience one in my hands before I buy one.  I really love how DS Lite is smaller and lighter (my 2 biggest peeves with the DS) but man, those Navy Blue Lite's look REALLY enticing...

TalkBack / RE: EDITORIALS: An E3 Like One Other
« on: February 12, 2006, 07:04:49 AM »
Just wanted to say that I did get the chance to go to E3 2k1, and man it was a blast.  It was also $100 to get in (yes, you don't have to be an "industry member" to get in) but now it's so expensive, it's totally not worth it.  I ended up spending about $1000 total (airfare, room, food, etc.) but I'll never forget it.  I promised myself I'd go back, but only if it were for free, which in that case I would have to be an industry member, right?  E3 2k1 WAS the last "great" E3, and since it's a pattern of every 5 years, I'm hoping E3 2011 will be just as awesome...

I guess now's as good a time as ever (now that they FINALLY fixed the forums).  I had really high expectations of winning, but I guess it wasn't good enough. *sigh* ah well.  I do think the top entry is the best one, though.
