Nintendo Gaming / wavebird?

In here I read about a rechargable battery pack.

Hasn't anyone ever heard of rechargable AA NiMh batteries? I see these rechargable battery packs for the GBA and other things and I just laugh at the price when compared to the price of MiMH batteries!

Nintendo Gaming / Great time for people that still don't have a GameCube

The BEST time to buy a Gamecube was a few weeks ago:

Meijers (a regional store) was selling the Gamecube for $99, and there was an additional 10% discount, so that night...

nYko 64MB card
Black Gamecube

~$110 after tax. Can't beat that!

AND, thanks to K-Mart going out of business:

Digital video cable: $2
Controller extension cord: $5

Yeah, no games bought yet, but there is always Blockbuster (and their Previously Played section if I REALLY like a game)

Well, that's about what I had thought too.

As for trying to create stuff for the PS2: I wanted to create something for a system I actually HAVE.

Oh well. I am sure that there will be people that will create a development kit for C one day. If it can be hacked, it will be hacked. And since it is a (moderately) open system, it can be hacked.

Nintendo Gaming / Metroid Prime 2

Yeah, I realize that about the suit now. Thought about it after I posted that and I looked around on the web and found a resource.

Well, there are always SIMILAR suits. I mean, in the comic, there WAS Armstrong Houston, so there are other bounty hunters.

As for the X Vaccine, yeah, of course she is the only one. Probally should have specified I was talking about pre-fusion...

Nintendo Gaming / Metroid Prime 2

Here is my thoughts on Metroid Prime 2 (Just to note: I am only about half way through Prime (Grav suit) and Fusion (Speed boost), but I have won the rest of the games)

USE THE BROADBAND ADAPTER!
Yes, I know that it may ruin the continuity, BUT not if it was a big part of the game. Yes, Samus works alone, but I can't imagine that she is the ONLY bounty hunter. (I SEVERELY doubt she is the ONLY one in the Galaxy that even has her suit or ship) Heck, maybe even have a rival in the game (Like Sa-X), but out for the bounty. Maybe work together occasionally, maybe try and stop the other from suceeding, and just for fun, a multiplayer Deathmatch variant of the game.

Hmm... Metroid Pime LIVE. Take the whole planetary system, allow travel between the planets, have the game moderators throw in troubling stuff at random, choice of massively multiplayer or single player (single player campain can allow the multiplayer events to have effects in the single player game)

Speech. Not too much, but more little things. Samus talking to herself, intercepted radio signals, pirates chatting, etc.

Level Editor! (Save to your memory card)

Let me fly her SWEET little space ship! (Fly it to other parts of the planet, or even fight Prime in the air!)

LMSx has a good idea with the uplink, but I say take it a bit further: When in serious trouble, call in a sub-orbital strike from her ship.

Ooh! Cloak abilty! Flight pack! Buzzsaw Morph Ball! Deformable terrain! Zero-G combat!

Imagine a MMRPG version of Prime with all of the above: At least one planet would be a complete wasteland because of a massive number of people playing, fightinh, and just blowing the h311 out of the place.

Also, with how many times she has lost her abilities due to little things (Radiation spike, viral invasion), why doesn't she make a backup of her abilities software and have someone try to reverse-engineer her armor and weapons, you know, just incase.

I'll be honest: I am cheap when it comes to paying for software/hardware. Ok... VERY cheap.

I find it difficult to justify more than $100 for most software, especially if I would only be using it for fun. (Noteable exceptions are the software packages that are INCREDIBLY usefull. Photoshop comes to mind)

I know that Nintendo makes most (if not all) of it's money licensing it's systems, but I think that there can be room for a very healthy open-source community.

Charge a little for the programming system, or even have a free version, and only demand money from profits. I severely doubt there would be a lot of serious competition from the open-source community for companies (Let's face it: A word processor is easy to create, so making it free can make sense. A game like Metroid takes time, so of course people would want compensation for that).
Just crack down HARD on companies that try to market games without licensing fees.

Question: (if you know the answer Nintendo): Is Nintendo's licensing system based on a percentage of sales, a flat per-unit fee, or just a plain old flat out fee per game?

Sorry if this has been asked before, but I couldn't find any information in the archives.

I ma interested in creating a few programs for my Gamecube (writing on those little 150MB CD-Rs), but I haven't a clue as to where to start.

Is there a Nintendo developers kit available (without spending untold thousands of dollars for such a kit)?
Has anyone (fans/players) created any programs for the Gamecube?
What about alternate controlers? I mean, it would not surprise me to find out that the Gamecube controller ports are similar to the USB ports on a PC.

Here's what I want to create: A keyboard and web browser for the Gamecube (with Broadband adapter). IF the Gamecubes processor uses a semi-standard OS, it should be easy (Heck, the Dreamcast used WIndows CE)

Is there a comercial market for this? I don't care.
WIll this be very usefull? Probally not.

Then,  you may ask, why bother? The answer is simple: Because it is there.
