Holy **** at this Warriors game tonight..... I just .... can't.

of all the things that went wrong, they literally stall in the last 5 seconds to give the Warriors an opportunity to challange that foul on Klay's pass, which was called a foul on Looney who didn't even touch anyone (it was Klay being hit trying to pass to Looney)... Game was tied, Warriors in the bonus...

If Kerr had called the challenge and won (he would've, they showed the replay), Klay would've had 2 Free Throws to put the Warriors in the lead with under 5 seconds in regulation. Then we don't need to watch the Ice Cold Dubs Show continue to **** the bed in the 4th and OT.
What a disaster.... and now the Dubs fall from 5th to 8th in one loss.

So many things led to the loss tonight, but the above mentioned could've bailed them out of this one, and not put as much pressure on having to play the Nugz tomorrow.

Who would've ever thought the group of us would ever still (irregularly) frequent this place for 20 years....

Few things in my life have lasted 20 years, so congrats on lasting that long!!

and that's from each device and from your "Home Server", otherwise you will be "Blocked" and have to call Netflix to unblock the device..

https://twitter.com/kendallbaker/status/1620525272297771008?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1620525272297771008%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_c10&ref_url=

Seems a bit much to me.

you can also get a 7 day log in code for unowned devices... like Hotel/AirBNB Smart TV's.

But there are devices I may not log into every month just to watch Netflix....
Now if those devices at home that you haven't used, attempt to log in after 31 days, and it's on the home network (and it knows what kind of device it is), then it should renew your timer.

As for other devices, it shouldn't "block" you, but log you out, and require 2-step authentication to log back in.

I feel that has to be less inconvenient for an account holder than to have to "Call Netflix" to access my account from my device.

They should have enough data, such as the type of device, and where it usually and last logged on from to know if it's an account sharing device
- i.e. it only logs on to the home network once every 31 days, and it always on a different network every other time.

Anyone watch that Lakers Celtics game?

has there been a worse referre'd 4th quarter specifically so far this season?
Calling fouls that didn't happen... both ways, missing obvious fouls that the Ref was literally staring at from several feel away (Lebron Layup end of Regulation), stupid flagrants....
This 4th quarter was just fucking awful, and despite all that, the Lakers should've won in regulation.... but apparently, just as when Embiid help WB's wrist a few weeks ago, apparently Tatum didn't slap Lebron's arm down on that layup to end the game.

Lakers gave up in OT.... AD not getting back on D and just watching Brown run past him... that's when I knew it was over... even though there was still about 2.5m left in the game. and then WB with the block by the rim....smfh. comical, especially since Lebron was open in the corner right in front of him.

I feel Lebron's frustration.

80

🤣🤣🤣

Lakers got the job done. Can't say the same for my Dubs....
Wiggins is still not back to form, Klay was back to forcing shots when others stand around him open.... Poole losing the ball at the end of the game has become something to expect at this point.
This was Defeat snatched from the jaws of victory game. Not like the Blazers blowing a huge lead, but the Warriors failing to get a huge lead in the first place, when it was very possible.

I went all in and said ten or more. There’s really nothing coming from the competition that would dethrone it more than 42 weeks out of 52 in the year.

No money on the line.... I'm all in too!!!

82
According to the article, this had a lot to do with it:
Quote
As we’ve previously reported, now that the 20th National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party, as well as 2021’s 100th anniversary of the Party, are out of the way, we hear there’s less fear within the government agencies. This was a big issue: No one wanted to make decisions or be seen as doing anything wrong at a time of geopolitical uncertainty and uncertainty within China. The Marvel issue seemed to stem from cultural and political sensitivities.

Which is why I was wondering if Disney, especially now that Iger is back in charge and negotiated the unbanning, would go back and make little "edits" to rake in an additional $100M-$200M Box Office on some of these movies that they could release.

BP2 crossing into the $1B territory is a good headline, and for status.
Doctor Strange, and Spider-Man getting some additional BO is always a plus.
Eternals getting any new money would be helpful

but since you mentioned it... Shang Chi is probably not getting that release, although I think it would've done really well there.

edit:
and then there is always this issue which could be why Iger might push to get those movies released to make that extra money.
https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/business/business-news/disney-nelson-peltz-ike-perlmutter-bob-iger-1235302095/

this is a fight between Iger and his apparent nemesis in Perlmutter and a hedge fund manager he sent to disrupt Iger and Disney (presumably since removed from Marvel Studios business....)
Quote
Aside from the succession problem, for example, it’s stating the obvious to say that streaming costs have to be reined in. But Iger also has some cards to play, aside from his reputation as one of the best executives in business. He’s already moved to respond to the sense that Disney (under ousted CEO Bob Chapek) was price-gouging at the theme parks. Avatar: The Way of Water is still rolling — just the kind of megahit that can drive many aspects of Disney business and there are more sequels ahead. And China just agreed to give valuable release dates for Marvel movies generally. (Not only are we extremely unlikely to see any Chinese villains but presumably the talent will be well-schooled to watch their words.)

Iger looking to maximize profits after Chapek was soiling that Disney park reputation. Pushing the missing Marvel movies into the Chinese Cinema seems like an easy win for both sides.

83
Looks like Black Panther 2 and Ant-Man 3 gonna get that China release!!!
https://deadline.com/2023/01/china-marvel-ban-ends-black-panther-wakanda-forever-ant-man-and-the-wasp-quantumania-release-dates-1235224248/

But what I wonder, is do they speed run the other missed movies through the Chinese theaters as well?

MCU Movies missed by China so far:
Black Widow, Shang-Chi, Eternals, Spider-Man NWH, Doctor Strange MOM, Black Panther WF

This could push BP2 over the $1B mark, as that's still relatively new.
Not sure how a theater run in China might help the rest of the movies, as they've all been out for quite a while now and likely been pirated to death, assuming there was no official DVD/Streaming release dubbed in local languages.

I really enjoyed this movie. I'm sure the trailer described it enough, but this was pretty enjoyable from beginning to end. A sort of "Scifi Horror/Thriller" that flirts on the edge of "is that possible" in the not so distant future.
I could see this having a future of sequels.... at least 1.... MEG4N

***LIGHT SPOILERS MAY BE AHEAD**
Basic story is about an animatronic doll with the ability to learn, takes instructions too personal.
This doll with it's almost lifelike "uncanny valley" appearance, is just so creepy.... Like if Anabelle had an Alexa inside it that learned to hold a conversation. How the creator didn't see the issue until it was pointed out, wasn't that surprising, as being a parent changes perspective on things.
The issue was very apparent to me right away, but there wasn't really any stupid people tropes taking you out of this one.
....or maybe I was just enjoying it too much to notice.

***Potential HEAVY Spoiler***
If I had to summarize this movie after having seen the entire thing.... I would say it's as if Ultron had possessed a child sized Chucky doll, and then decided that it deserved more than to be thought of as a machine.

Seeing how it ended though, I really expect there to be at least 1 sequel. And tbh, I'm looking forward to it.

Verdict: Highly Recommended

Edit: And the sequel was announced!! M3GAN 2.0 - Jan 2025

There's plenty of season to tank left. I'm sure the Thunder will be fine 😉

86
I'm glad I was wrong about it too.

Now if I can just be wrong about Jordan Poole.... we can have a decent squad at home and on the road. The last 3 loses were all unfortunate, and we realistically could have and should have won them all.

The OA

I'm really not sure how to explain this show without myself sounding crazy, but I got absolutely caught up in this wild tale of a show.

Psychological Sci Fi Thriller is probably the best way to drop some descriptors on there.
It has to do with the main character and her recollection of her supposed past and her supposed NDE or Near Death Experience, and why she was missing for 7 years, and left blind but can now see.
Most think she is crazy and needs help, some think she is fascinating and want to know more.

Full Disclosure.... this show was supposed to go 5 seasons according to the creator, but Netflix cut it short after 2 great seasons. and TBH. the ending of S2 teasing S3 looked like it was setting up another wild season full of who knows what. I do not regret getting invested, because it was a good ride, even if I don't get to see how it ultimately ends.

If you looking for a spoiler to tell you what is really going on in this show...  and I suggest you go in knowing no more than what was said above.....
**SPOILER**The closest comparison I can come up with is group Quantum Leap meets the Spiritual Matrix

I'm completely out of the loop, and haven't fired my Switch up for some time now.... but a New Zelda has my attention.

Is there a recent video or something that released? When exactly is this coming out?
And when I looked it up.... why was it said to be one of if not the last big release on the Switch!?

Is the Switch Pro, or Switch 2 on the horizon? and what do we know about that?
Where are all the credible rumors surrounding that?

89
Curry is hurt.... :(
minor dislocation or something of the left shoulder. 2 weeks out. So he gonna miss the much hyped Xmas Game v the Grizz

it's a shame, because The Grizz are rolling and Ja is usually very fun to watch.

speaking of which.... anybody checking out the NBA Ref Snitch account on youtube? pointing out all the missed travels and carries of individual players. Some of them so blatant and repetitive, it really is terrible to see everyone continually get away with it 98% of the time. Ja was one of a few  really bad offenders in this area from recent videos released.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NkxpE3xOCiA

anyway....
With Steph injured, it's time for everyone, especially Jordan Poole, to become ROAD WARRIORS and start picking up the slack. Maybe Wiseman gets an early chance to prove he's made advancements in the G league that translate to NBA playtime.

I'm just hoping this next stretch of losses doesn't push us too far down to still make the play-in or better.... The West still isn't won, and no one has run away with anything just yet.

We likely to write this next stretch a loss (2w/4L).... hoping we get Steph back 12/30 v Portland, because Steph loves to play Dame.

So no one is following all the DC/DCU/DCEU drama as of the last few months?
I can't remember everything, so I'm just gonna give a quick re-cap off the top of my head.
anyone feel free to jump in and fill in blanks....

James Gunn (and some other guy) get announced as Directors/Architechs of the NewDCU - congrats ::applause::

The Flash has gone mostly silent.... rumors of cameos and spin-offs, but no news of how they plan to handle the problematic Real Life stories surrounding their lead actor....

The Rock HYPES up Black Adam as 10 years in the making.... it doesn't do AVENGERS numbers... Rock gets but hurt about not being able to compete with basic Marvel Movies and doesn't like being compared to BP:WF

The Rock leaks fake numbers to the trades to make it look like BA is gonna be profitable.... gets called out for in in the news. LOL

meanwhile.....
Henry Cavill quits the Witcher supposedly to return as Superman w/ a Cameo in The Flash and at the end of Black Adam.
- He was apparently making $1M a episode for the Witcher? hope it's not too late.

Rumors of a Batman Beyond spin-off (from The Flash) starring Michael Keaton as Old Man Bruce
- also cameos of WW, and other Batman's in The Flash

Gunn (and Safran?) have been quietly sculpting an Outline for the future of the DC Hierarchy (LOL)
apparently, this shift in plans has killed the following items:
- Wonder Woman 3
- WW's cameo in The Flash
- Cavil Superman project
- Cavil's Superman cameo in The Flash
- potential for a Black Adam 2 (and The Rocks involvement with the DCU?*)
- The rumored Batman Beyond Spin-off
- and anything else that hasn't already entered production.... will be re-evaluated.... so all those projects that DC has announced and never got around to actually starting may never come out in the forms they were planning (Green Lantern, Booster Gold, etc etc etc)

But Gunn has announced that he is working on a new Superman script, and it will be about a younger Superman

Aqua-man may now become Lobo in this rebooted NewDCU

The Batman 2 should proceed unimpeded by any plans to enter this grander rebooted NewDCU (shall remain stand-alone for now.... I assume this to also be true about The Joker)

Ben Affleck will likely be directing something in this new DCU
and Henry Cavill is still on good terms... so maybe he'll be back too?

Plans for this New DCU will likely be shared in the next few months, Gunn has stated he would liketo focus on some more obscure characters (outside of his "young" Superman movie), is very vocal about slapping down false rumors on Twitter... or Mastadon... or whatever other new Social Media is happening out there due to other unrelated craziness out there right now.

*
p.s. The Rock is apparently so upset with WB's changing of the Heirarchy of the DCU, that he has unfollowed WB and Black Adam on Twitter.

p.p.s. The Rock apparently also turned down opportunities to appear in Shazam as Black Adam, but I guess he only respects Superman as a potential opponent, and wants nothing to do with Shazam....
I guess it doesn't matter now, as he will have nothing to do with Shazam, Black Adam, DC, and probably WB for a while.

Did I miss anything important

91
Well... I think it should've maybe been a Flagrant 1.

Warriors get the FT and the ball... F2 was excessive. Wasn't expecting that.
He did kind of aggressively swing his arm against his head in an attempt to wrap him up and kinda yanked him back, and I think that's the part that might've been "excessive"

His squaring up though was funny.

As for that last sequence.... I'm not sure what to say.
Poole was karate chopped and then tackled. and this happened right in front of the Ref, yet no whistle. Even if the chop was all ball, the Olynyk tackle was a loose ball foul.

Regardless of all that, the loss once again came down to Klay and his terrible shot taking (constant 3 hunting and side fading shot selection), terrible shot not making (missing at least 4 layups.... 2 of them barely contested, 1 was fast break), and then the lack of perimeter defense in the end.
He just straight up left his assignment, their 3 point shooter... on the 3 point line, to casually not even challenge the ball at the rim, and leaving their 3pt shooter wide open to bring the Jazz within 1 point.

flip back around to the swallowed whistle at the end and the easy layup, and that was game.

Wiseman back to the G league indefinitely.
Not sure what's so hard about setting a screen, you know, making actual contact with the defender, before slipping the screen to look for a pass in the middle. Had you actually set the screen, the ball handler might've drawn enough attention to get Wiseman open in the middle, but he's just out there going through the motions like a non-contact practice session.
If he don't figure it out soon... and get aggressive about it, we won't see him again. Wasted #2 pick.
we don't have the time to develop him so slowly, so he needs to go to a team like the Pistons, Spurs, Magic, or Rockets so he can play through his learning curve.

On a positive note Kuminga was great!!
He is good on D, he's aggressive on offense, and he should have been starting over Ty Jerome in Draymond's spot.
I actually think Ty Jerome and LaMychal Green both got in before Kuminga, and that just needs to stop.

So I actually put this loss mostly on Klay, but Kerr is the #2 reason for most of these losses with these rotational lineups that should be figured out already.

92
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u3V5KDHRQvk

Looks like High Evolutionary maybe? And an exploration into Rockets origin... I believe that is what was rumored.

93
Dray held a meeting, and held everyone accountable for where they needed to be held accountable.

Klay took it to heart, and stop taking terrible shots and trying to force everything to be something he never was. Now Klay has found his stroke, and is looking like who he used to be.... on offense at least.
Defense is that bad, but not quite the level where he used to be.

Kerr finally appeared to have fixed the lineups, and keeping at least 2 starters on the floor for most of the game is a must. It should've have taken this long to figure that out, but honestly, Klay fixing his bullshit helped bring us to this point. Poole running point w/ 4 other people that don't know the system wasn't working.... and Poole has a other issues to work out, like STOP CARRYING THE BALL for one... but other things as well.

Now if can continue to tighten up on D, and actually try to rebound on offense... or just hang out in where you were standing in the halfcourt, where the ball would've naturally came to you, we can turn this season around and get in playoff position.

Once we work out these kinks.... maybe we'll be ready to bring Wiseman back in for the back 1/3rd of the season so he's Playoff/Play-In ready. LOL

94
It's official.... Warriors Defense is BROKEN

Poole is a Home Court Warrior and/or can't play if Klay is on the court

Klay is a shell of his former self

Draymond.... I just assume can't do it by himself, and shows why he would have little value on any other team that didn't involve a prime Splash Bro-like combo

JMG.... bench him please.
DDV.... could be better

Honestly if it wasn't for Wiggins and Looney, Curry was pretty much out there doing it by himself.
Don't look at the Box score and say "well, Klay had 20...." Klay missing so many key shots, it's literally taking us out of games.
Turnovers are out of control.
Rebounds are something we really don't seem to try for... especially on offense, and it would LITERALLY make the whole difference in the game, just from an effort stand point, but just a few 2nd or 3rd chance opportunities could have put us in position to win this game.

It really is a shame that Wiseman seems to be a bust so far, and had to be sent down to the G league for looking lost on the court, slipping screens before even setting them, and just not being where he needed to be at practically any point while he was on the floor.

Curry put on a show tonight though with 50 points in a 13 point loss.
But Curry could've went for 60 or 70, but it don't matter if we can't stop the other team from scoring practically every time they bring the ball down the court.

Kerr needs to fix this mess. We don't have time for all this.
0-7 or 0-8 on the road. ridiculous.

EDIT:
I'm looking at the Box Score, and How the **** is JMG (the dude who should've been benched) have the higherst+/- on the team at +7 and somehow, the man that had almost HALF of the teams points, and the ONLY reason we weren't completely blown tf out, Stephen Wardel Curry, have a -14!!?

that makes no sense to me.

95
Refs in this Warrior game us BULLSHIT.

So many missed and BS calls, especially in this 4th quarter.
They missed an obvious offensive basket interference on CLE,  and all these terrible calls in the 4th need to stop.

Like the BS tech on Poole. Today shows he did not land in his space. But they missed the 3 where someone was literally on Stephs back.

Hopefully we can pull this off though, despite the refs.

OMG. Now that last foul on Draymond against Mitchell!!!!?
Give me a fucking break. There was NO FOUL. we all looking at the same replay.

96
I opted to sign up for the Disney Trio Bundle because Hulu seems more up my alley. No live TV; I don't think I'd use it enough.

There are a few Netflix things I want to check out eventually such as the previously mentioned Glass Onion. I also want to finish up Stranger Things when that returns as well as Castlevania. I can probably just sign up for a month here or there.

Y'all may have read my ramblings on The Dragon Prince. I watched one episode of Season 4 to see if they learned anything, and nope, officially done with this show. These mofos continue whiffing even the simplest expectations for good writing.
  • Characters are needlessly and overly vague about their intentions.
  • Characters talk about things they did that sound way more interesting than the conversation they're having about those things.
  • Nothing happened in an entire episode of a nine episode season. Why are y'all still stalling so much? So much time is spent setting up jokes that don't land instead of showing characters actually doing things.
There are so many options if y'all won't step up your game. I have Hulu now, motherfucker. I have access to Futurama again. Paramount announced THREE Avatar: The Last Airbender movies. I'm not spending any more time of this show when there are better alternatives.

I too just signed up for the Trio Bundle... Ad free, since Hulu ads started triggering on my computer after some Chrome update about a month ago.... and my D+ sub (3yr pre-pay) expired today.

Also The Dragon Prince was renewed through S7, so it's a shame it's not meeting your expectations, as it's one of the few shows that Netflix seems to want to extend, especially early on.

97
Wakanda Forever was Dope.

Namor was Dope. the winged ankles kick ass. See them in action and then try to disagree.
I would love to see Namor get his own movie. the world of Talokan and the Adventures of Namor could use more spotlight.

Tribute to Boseman and T'Challa was handled extremely well.
check the spoiler thread for more thoughts.....

Don't wait for the D+ stream, go see it in theaters.

The way Marvel weaved the Latin American Lore and History into the story was a really nice touch.

and FYI, there is only a Mid Credit Scene. just 1.
do not wait around for a Post-Credit scene as there isn't one.

You're welcome.

Movies & TV / Re: SPOILER ALERT: MCU Thread (Wakanda ForNamor)
« on: November 11, 2022, 03:16:16 PM »
Time for another title update!!

Black Panther was good. I was into it from start to finish. It was long, but honestly, it could've been a bit longer and I wouldn't have minded.
I thought they handled Boseman/T'Challa passing very well, reflecting the real life situation into the movie (suffering in silence and not telling anyone). The grief and mourning throughout the movie was handled with care. There was a lot of loss handled in this movie, just as the previous.
Although I was happy to see one of the losses make a cameo that made sense with the return of Killmonger (and a new hairstyle) as a representative of the Ancestral Plane for Shuri. Made perfect sense for her struggle in the movie at that point.

I was a little disappointed that Shuri didn't buck tradition and share the Heart Shaped Herb with more heads of state at the very least for the Wakandans, as that was what the "Atlanteans" had done and why their whole race was so powerful. But I guess part of the movie was about honoring the ancestors and traditions that came before you. But tell me M'Baku in full Beast Mode would've have been dope as ****, with his own Gorilla Suit even. could've been M'Baku vs Attuma, no holds barred, while Okoye instead goes after Namora (yes I know that invalidates her female strength as a woman warrior, but BM M'Baku vs Attuma could've been awesome)

Honestly, I really felt like the whole conflict between the Wet world and the Dry world could've been completely avoided (and I expect this to be on HISHE at some point) by Namora and crew not jumping Shuri, Okoye and Riri on the bridge. Letting them get her back to Wakanda, and then basically nurturing her there.
I understand that Namor doesn't know nor trust any of them further than he could throw one of their flying ships, but he didn't even give them a chance to fulfill the mission he set them on.

I also really can't wait to have New Rockstars shows me all the little easter eggs I missed, as I haven't read 75years worth of comics to catch everything.... like the Conch Shell given to Queen Ramonda.

I also would love to see a little battle with Thor vs Namor. I see Thor getting real irritated with Namor jumping through the air, being too fast and not standing still.

Speaking of which, I though Namor and his little winged feet were pretty awesome. The way he seemed to run and jump through the air was cool. Glad they just full embranced the character and his oddities.
Seeing Tolokan (aka Atlantis) and how he used Vibranium to give them a "Sun" in the ocean was pretty dope.
Also the Siren Squad that would lure the land dwellers to fall into a trance and throw themselves into the ocean to be dispersed without resistance was also really cool.

I really love how Marvel will use myth, legends, real locations, and actual historical events to shape the world they create to keep it as grounded and relatable as possible in their fantasy world.

Using the beliefs of the old Mayan(?) Civilization that was thought to have just disappeared, to be the ones to find the root and evolve to descend into the depths of the ocean and create an undiscovered underwater civilization (lost city of Atlantis) greater than most up on the surface, just being the latest example.

Overall, a really good movie.
p.s. There is only the mid-credit scene, there is no post credit scene.

99
Everyone was expecting them to tank for Wembanyama after trading away their 2 stars.

But they must've grabbed their tank from one of the abandoned ones in Ukraine, because they rolled right into 1st in the West. So if they plan to get back to "tanking" the "right" way they gonna need to get rid of some of these players apparently don't know how to do that. :D

But I say F that... it's hard to find something that clicks, while having a good year, and make it last all season. So ride it out, see where it takes you. Surprise the **** out of all the doubters. Maybe the Jazz mess around and end up in the (conference :P ) Finals

100
Nets promoted their Asst Coach up to Head Coach, to avoid the Ime Udrama.

Anyone else see the Nets imploding this year?
Simmons refusing to shoot, Kyrie can't stay on the court... and none of it so far is injury related (unless we talking social and financial injury), a Durant... well, I'm sure he could find better support elsewhere.
Is this perhaps the biggest "Super Team" failure in NBA history?
