TalkBack / Many Mega Man Games Coming to Switch
« on: December 04, 2017, 06:33:00 AM »

Mega Man 11 and multiple collections of old Mega Man games are coming in 2018.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/45936/many-mega-man-games-coming-to-switch

Mega Man 11 and rereleases of Mega Man X through X8 are coming to Nintendo Switch, according to a recent livestream from Capcom celebrating Mega Man's 30th Anniversary. Additionally, Mega Man Legacy Collection 1 and 2 will be coming to the Switch in 2018 with added amiibo support.

Mega Man 11, due out in late 2018, features modern graphics and appears to retain familiar elements and enemies. The last mainline Mega Man game came out in 2009 and featured a retro aesthetic. Capcom's Koji Oda is directing the project, and it seems like Capcom is developing it all in house. Mega Man 9 and 10 were both developed by Inti Creates, so this is the first internally developed Mega Man platformer since Mega Man X8.

Mega Man X through X8 will be coming to Switch in 2018 as well, though each game will be sold separately. Mega Man Legacy Collection features Mega Man 1-6 and Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 features Mega Man 7-10. Legacy Collection first came out on other platforms, with the first coming out on 3DS in early 2016.

Mega Man 11 is due out in late 2018, with more details being revealed in summer 2018. The Mega Man X games and the two Legacy Collections are set for a 2018 release.

TalkBack / Staff Sez: E3 Games We Didn't See Coming
« on: June 11, 2014, 05:47:00 PM »

E3 ain't over yet, but staffers have some early picks on the games or experiences that took them by surprise!

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/roundtable/37778/staff-sez-e3-games-we-didnt-see-coming

Two days into E3 and already there's been so many reveals and surprises, experiences and demos. There's always hype before the event and there's always hype after, but there were also surprises: games that nobody predicted, games that flew under the radar, games that we never expected to turn out the way they did! The Expo isn't even over yet, but already NWR staffers have examples of times when they were taken completely by surprise!

Carmine "Really Wants to Play Star Wars" Red

I was previously very much "meh" about Hyrule Warriors, but after seeing the gameplay I did a complete 180 because it became clear to me that the title really should've been "Zelda: Battlefront!"

Zachary "Add Shantae to Smash Bros." Miller

Shantae 3 actually getting a release window. You know, after missing the first one, which honestly wasn't very broad (last quarter of 2013 but WHATEVER).

But the fact that we still don't have an actual release date? Something more specific than "summer 2014?"

Not bitter at all.

Bryan "Kirby! Kirby! Kirby!" Rose

I was not expecting a new Kirby game so soon. I just finished Kirby Triple Deluxe, after all! But this won't be coming out until 2015 it seems, so there's plenty of time to start wanting some more Kirby in my life.

Nicholas "Assist Trophy" Bray

Easily Splatoon, then probably Star Fox and Captain Toad.

Addison "Custom Level" Webb

I thought all of the Mario Maker pictures were fake until it was announced; the pictures looked Photoshopped.  I don't think any of us were expecting a new Kirby game so soon.

J.P. "Ready to Launch" Corbran

Personally, even if Nintendo didn't have anything else to show, I'd have declared that they won E3 purely by (finally) not only announcing a new Star Fox, but one that looks to be made internally this time. Last time EAD made a Star Fox game it was one of my all-time favorite games, so I have high hopes for this one.

Clay "I'll Play It on 3DS" Johnson

Code Name: STEAM certainly turned out to be a different game than I was picturing, and it seems to have a lot of interesting and promising elements. Silver Age comics, steampunk, Honest Abe, and Intelligent Systems? Yes, please.

Justin "The Captain" Baker

Captain Toad was totally out of left field for me. My favorite part of my favorite game last year being turned into its own game? Yes, please!

Guillaume "I Like Squid Girls" Veillette

Captain Toad and a sequel to Kirby's Canvas Curse on Wii U were things I've actually said I wanted, yet never expected to get. I can't think of another instance where my desires were so specifically met by Nintendo. It's kind of unbelievable!

Splatoon also managed to put a Nintendo twist on the online shooter genre in a way I never expected. I think most people thought that if Nintendo would ever try their hand in this genre, it would be with non-violent paintball. But who saw "cute squid girls swimming in ink" coming!?

Alex "Watched the Trailer Frame-by-Frame" Culafi

I expected the worst from Zelda and got the best. What more could one ask for?

Curtis "Stop Motion" Bonds

I definitely didn't see a sequel to Canvas Curse coming, and in amazing-looking claymation no doubt. Splatoon also looks like a blast, too.

E3 isn't quite over yet; who knows whether more surprises are just around the corner? Do you have any personal picks for the game that most surprised you in the show so far?

But keep in mind this is a transcript, so how it was typed out was merely just the transcriber's personal interpretation. There's no way to know for sure what Miyamoto had in mind when he said it based on the quote.
Does anyone have a link to the Japanese interview? I was looking for NCL's Super Mario 25th site earlier but couldn't find it. (Used to be at http://www.nintendo.co.jp/mario25th/index.html)

Thankfully, I already have The Lost Levels on my SNES in Super Mario All-Stars.

It's really a shame that somehow they messed up the jumping in Lost Levels (and SMB) in All-Stars. When Mario jumps and breaks a brick, he is pulled upward for a split-second.

 TIME FOR CHRONOS TWINS!

Oxygen's time-travelling adventure clocks on this autumn

July 31st 2007: Northamptonshire, UK: Oxygen Games™ today announces the early autumn release of its delightfully nostalgic retro platformer, Chronos Twins for Nintendo DS™.

Playing with the concept of time travel, Chronos Twins, sees the player in the driving-seat, as Nec – the last best hope for his planet - not only battles to save his world but also to avenge the death of his brother.

To successfully complete levels, players must initially use both screens simultaneously as s/he plays across two temporal dimensions (past and present) in a bid to meet (and defeat) the nameless entity head-on when it first appears on Nec’s homeworld. Manoeuvring through side-scrolling areas, the aim is to control both the present-time hero whilst exploring the planet’s past in order to conquer the alien threats.

Chronos Twins has been designed with a gradual learning curve, which enables the player to ease into the game. Once the player has progressed through a number of stages, the game becomes increasingly challenging, when both screens merge into one.

Chronos Twins, only on Nintendo DS™ is scheduled for release this autumn.

TalkBack / PREVIEWS: DK Jungle Climber
« on: July 17, 2007, 07:42:09 AM »
Donkey Kong returns to the jungle in the sequel to DK King of Swing.
 http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/previewArt.cfm?artid=14043

First announced at E3 2006, DK Jungle Climber is almost ready to swing onto the DS. Developer Paon is once again bringing puzzle-platforming action to a handheld with the sequel to its own DK King of Swing for GBA.

DK Jungle Climber features a similar control scheme to its predecessor, which means your shoulder buttons will get a workout. On the ground, the L and R buttons make DK walk left and right. Press and release L and R together to make DK jump. In the air, DK can grab onto pegs and other grabbable objects with L and R; the two buttons control his left and right hand, respectively. After he grabs onto something, letting go of the shoulder button will propel DK in the direction he is facing. His charge attack from King of Swing — press and hold L and R, then release — also returns.

While the core gameplay is the same as DK King of Swing's, DK Jungle Climber introduces some new elements. This time, Diddy Kong can join DK on his adventure. After you break Diddy out of barrels scattered across the levels, you can fling him into enemies and breakable objects, and even spin him around DK. As for new level elements, a recent video shows a giant sunflower that bends back before springing DK high into the air.

Though there is no online multiplayer mode, DK Jungle Climber offers download play and local multiplayer, accommodating up to four players. Players can choose from Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, Dixie Kong, and Funky Kong to use in all-new multiplayer battles.

DK Jungle Climber is scheduled to launch in North America on September 10.

 DARTS' DECEMBER DEBUT ON WiiTM!

PDC World Championship Darts sequel launches Christmas 2007 and debuts on the WiiTM

Northamptonshire, UK. 10th July 2007. Pure Excitement. Pure Pressure. Pure Darts….Game On! Oxygen GamesTM is pleased to announce PDC World Championship Darts 2008 – the eagerly-anticipated sequel to its first-to-format darts title launched last Christmas.

The second instalment of the hugely successful PDC World Championship Darts game features more PDC players, improved physics, improved animations, more game modes, full career mode based on the real PDC season, and for the first time, the game will be available on the WiiTM.

“We are delighted to be able to release the sequel this year, especially as it’s now on the Wii", said Jim Scott, CEO of Oxygen Games. “We have worked really closely with the PDC to make this the most complete darts game ever, and the amount of new features in this title delivers a true-to-the-sport experience."

Whilst the PlayStation®2 and PC versions both feature improved control systems, the WiiTM version takes the game to another level: Players throw the dart by using the Wii remote to mimic a real darts throw, with the  on-screen dart responding to the timing and smoothness of the release, as well as the accuracy of the throw.

The use of the Wii remote also enhances the darts party games which are included in all versions of the game.

Set for release alongside the staging of the 2008 Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship, the sequel aims to bring something new to the countless loyal fans of the sport, as well as opening doors for the new gaming audience.

PDC World Championship Darts 2008 is scheduled for release on PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system, PC and WiiTM in December 2007 - Game On!
