I heard of a couple other people online having crashes, but it has been smooth for me. Out of curiosity, is your system resolution set to 720p or 1080p?

1080p

Just for grins, why don't you try setting it to 720p and see how it behaves? I've heard of some people having peformance issues at 1080p

Not surprising, my scores are mostly terrible. :(

I think I need to concentrate on one model of car and build it up in the races.

My sad tale:
Queued this up for $30 purchase from Origin today. Ran out of time. Went back two hours later (after my meeting), no longer on sale.

It's showing on sale for me: http://store.origin.com/store/ea/en_US/DisplayProductDetailsPage/productID.251734800

Is this a Canada thing?
Must be. It show $59.99 for me.

No difference with resolution change.  I was able to play for an hour this afternoon and encountered a hard lock/game crash.

Alex Ward on twitter says they are looking into the hard lock issues, but they are not seeing the issue on their dev or test kits.

I saw they same excuse from Gaijin Games in response to the hard lock issues with Runner 2 (apparently, they found the issue and the upcoming Runner 2 patch resolves this).

We now have two development studios stating hard locking issues with their games are not occurring on dev/test units and only on retail Wii Us.

What is different between the dev/test kits and the retail Wii Us and if there is a difference, why are the devs not testing the final game on retail Wii Us?

I tried online play today. It's not explained very well, but I figured it out. You drive to an event, then battle the other players. Some of the crashes get a little ridiculous!

I have been having a hard time getting used to the controls, its way too easy to lose control and some crashes are just ridiculous, otherwise is a solid game.

I have been having a hard time getting used to the controls, its way too easy to lose control and some crashes are just ridiculous, otherwise is a solid game.

The game's handling is quite stiff when compared to Burnout games, Mario Kart, and F-Zero GX. When grip is lost unintentionally, things can go sideways in many wrong directions. Learning how and when to brake is very important in this game.

If you're having trouble doing a drifting turn through a right-angle corner, try hitting both the brake and the handbrake to start the drift. That seems to put the car in to an over steer much quicker than using only the brake or handbrake. I tend to have my finger on the accelerator while doing this, but see if you get better results by letting off the gas as you are slamming down on both the brake and handbrake.

Me too.

might go fire it up in a little bit.

edit: I loving this game so far. I didn't do the update, so I guess I can't access online features, but I'll go restart the game later for the update.

Sense of speed is really good, the frame rate seems solid, the car selection is nice & the cops are FUCKIN BRUTAL!!!

I almost freaked out right now when I checked the shipping slip from my NFS game that came today from Origin.

It says the game was $60..... and I already opened it!!!

but I checked my CC statement online just now and it was still only $30.

Don't mess with me like that EA.

You shouldn't be allowed to drive for at least an hour after playing this game.

It has me thinking I can drive through tiny gaps going 90 easy. But I have to say to myself "this is not need for speed" over and over again.

Same thing happened to me. 20mph over the speed limit on the city streets weaving in, out and around traffic as if everyone else was in the wrong.....

then again I do that everyday to and from work.

Wow, this game is pretty sweet.

I barely know what I'm doing half of the time and my driving is terrible, but exploring the city, finding jackspots and crashing through billboards is all kinds of stupid fun!

QFT. When I was a kiddo I play some GTA3 (or one of them) and then drove shortly after and had to keep telling myself that I can't just drive through the grass and run people over and stuff.

Wow.  I am amazingly bad at this game.

Also, cops are really stupid in this game.  I was in the middle of town, went on some crazy ramp, shot through the air, smashed through a billboard and through several lamp posts (along with various other things), landing near a cop.  Reduced my speed, keeping pace with the officer.  Nothing.  Didn't even care.  Never mind the fact that I was swerving all over the road, continuing to hit things.  Well, the cop's lane ended, so he decided to merge into mine and sideswiped me.  NOW he turns on his lights and starts chasing me.  Jerk.
Just some random guy on the internet who has a different opinion of games than you.
