Why would anyone buy Duke Nukem 64 over the unedited and more fully featured PC version?

Body Harvest - Developed by DMA Design which is now Rockstar North.  I doubt Rockstar even cares about the Virtual Console so it's doubtful to ever appear.

Duke Nukem 64 - Duke Nukem Forever has a better chance of coming out before this game ever appears on the Virtual Console.

Gauntlet 64 - If Midway was to come on board then this game could have a good chance.  But like Rockstar, Midway probobly doesn't care to much about the Virtual Console either and so it's doubtful any of their games will appear in the near future.

New Tetris - Well it was published by Nintendo so it could appear.  But it was developed by H2O Entertainment so I wonder if Nintendo would have to work out any copyright issues with them.  Plus they'd also have to work out a deal with The Tetris Company who owns the License to all Tetris games.

"Why would anyone buy Duke Nukem 64 over the unedited and more fully featured PC version?"

My friend bought Duke Nukem 64 instead of Goldeneye.  His reason?  "Well it's practically the same thing and Duke64 had bots in multiplayer."  Oh okay then.  That changes everything.  I played it once at his house and hated it because the stupid game required you to use every button the controller.  That's right.  The game requires one to use the face buttons, the analog stick AND the d-pad.  I think you're expected to use both the L and Z button as well.  I imagine in magical three armed land this controller setup works like a dream but for us humans it's ridiculously horrible.

I think the guy had Duke3D on the PC as well.  And if he didn't I have it and if he wanted it so bad I could have let him "borrow" it.  Hell I think the full game cost like $20 at the time Duke64 was brand new and probably cost about $80 Canadian.

H2O is long gone...I don't know if that makes it easier or harder to get New Tetris.  Obviously the Tetris company confuses things further...I'd love to see it, but I've still got the ol' N64.

I could definitely imagine Body Harvest though...the thing is, VC is turning out to be quite popular, I think these companies would be foolish not to put their games on...all it costs is a bit of QA, and then instant money!
That's my opinion, not yours.

Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

I'm surprised there haven't been more than that, considering how cheap and quickly one can buy the games.  I probably have about ten.  I've spent about 8000 points, too.  That's a total of less than one VC game sold per console, which is somewhat disappointing.  Hopefully this will change at some point, but I can't shake the feeling that people are intimidated by the possibility of extra hardware, along with the lack of the cards in stores.  It's definitely surprising that more haven't been sold, though.  Maybe they should advertise the feature on television.  Think they'd see more results?

"I'm surprised there haven't been more than that, considering how cheap and quickly one can buy the games."

Well keep in mind three things:

1. Some people, usually those under 20, don't give two sh!ts about anything old even if it's incredibly ignorant for them to have that attitude.  You think 10 year old kids want to play old NES games?  Probably not.  When I was a kid I wasn't even interested in Atari games and those were only like two years old at the time.  Kids and teens only care about what's current.

2. Some people who are interested in classic games probably already own a fair amount of the VC titles in their original format and thus don't want to buy them again.  I like the VC but if I had a Wii I probably would have only bought one or two games on it by now because a lot of the really good VC games are titles I either already own or I've played so many times I'm just not that interested anymore.  Let's not forgot that a lot of Nintendo's VC titles have been re-released in some form recently like on the GBA or in Animal Crossing.  They've gotten better but initially it was like Nintendo was just dumping all the NES Classic Series games.

3. Piracy.  Some people are just going to steal all their old games because it is incredibly easy to do that.

I was a kid when the SNES was the current system. Having games cost 2-3 times your monthly allowance certainly isn't conductive to buying many games so I'm using the VC to grab the games I never had. Of course downloading ROMs can be pretty easy so I think most people (especially here) will do that instead of using the VC. VC cards are often sold out or priced at 25€ though so at least some people are buying.

Great release today.

For those that want an true classic game, Castlevania is awesome.

The Legend of the Mystical Ninja is one of the best SNES games created, and its a cult classic game.

And Shockman is an obscure game that may be fun to try out.
