Nintendo Gaming / RE: Xenosaga to be a Nintendo exclusive?
« on: April 29, 2007, 08:21:23 AM »
Working on a game does not necessarily entitle you to its rights. Just ask TOSE. If Tri-Crescendo owns part of Baiten Kaitos then it would have rights, but working on it does not mean they own any part of it.

I would hope bongo controls remain as well, but it only makes senses to move to wiimote/nunchuk. They'd be stupid to do otherwise.

The name? Eh....

SNES first is like a no brainer. It has more masterpieces than anything else. And it's controller doesn't suck.

It's baffling that a system with no new games can sell 75,000 five months after release before becoming a phoenominon. Even the DS wasn't that strong doing its initial quiet spell.

Someone needs to remake the prints money thing with Iwata instead of the DS.

It's nice to see FFXIII is throwing out all aspects of fantasy. There's always been too much fantasy in the series. Seriously. It's like all they ever used to be was fantasy! God, it's not like the word fantasy is in the title.

No, really? They're trying to space them out? How bizarre! I guess I forgot that from when I argued the exact same thing three months ago. There comes a time, however, when things are too spaced out. That time has arrived.

The problem is that the selection of N64 and SNES games is paltry at best, horrid at worst.  At this rate of 1 good SNES a month or less we'll have about 50-60 good SNES games in 5 years. Half of the games worth having or less.

One good SNES game a month? Dude, there are already 11 SNES games up within a roughly five month period and they all range from good to excellent. Most are really great games. While I can see one taking a pass on Street Fighter II in favor of waiting for either Super Street Fighter II or Street Fighter II: Turbo or in hopes that maybe we'll get the arcade versions one day. That still averages out to around 2 good SNES games a month.

Let's see. Launch had one good game, one decent game. Then Christmas gave us one good game. January and February to be fair, had 2 of their 3 releases be good. March had one good release. So far in April? Not a one. That averages out (2+1+2+2+1+0/6=1.3) to barely more than one good game a month. If April gets one then that's one and a half every month. Stellar. Truly stellar.

Their has been no exclusives, the reviews keep becoming more and more untimely, and the news is always a little lagging as of late.  I thought that when the staff was shuffled and streamlined one of the goals was for more content.

I have to admit I rarely ever look at the front page. The new is always days late and it's usually just whatever the press releases were the previous day. I can understand not wanting to become a gossip site and wanting to be professional, but the amount of news is always really low.

I agree, people need to stop complaining about the VC releases being too slow, too mediocre, etc etc.  I don't even have time to play the Wii or virtual console games I have purchased.  If what has been released for the Virtual Console or the Wii is not enough for you, then you seriously need to get a life.

Lets also not forget that VC already has more games on it than Xbox Live Arcade, and it had about a year headstart

I don't want MORE games, just more GOOD games. And a better balance of systems. I had no issue with it at first but it's getting annoying now.

It's because GoNintendo posts EVERYTHING ever written about Nintendo. They need to start actually asking themselves whether something is worse reading.

The Wii will probably have a lifespan of about 5 or so years. We're only about 5 months in. If, for some reason, you don't think there are any worthwhile games on the Virtual Console yet, I'm sure at least one will come in the next 220 or so VC Mondays we have left.

And people have lost a lot more than $5 on games they bought and didn't like, so I think you're doing alright. Maybe retro gaming just isn't for you.

(BTW....if you were being sarcastic, then I'm sure it still applies to a few other people. I can necer tell with the sarcasm on this board anymore!!)

VC reviews have been really unreliable. First I trusted NWR on Kid Icarus and never felt so jipped of $5 in my life...and then I trusted everyone on Beyond Oasis which is ok but not worth $8. Only Castlevania and Bomberman have been worthwhile. Now I'm debating whether I should risk it on Dragon's Curse or play it safe with Link.

Can anyone explain why video games always feature extremely broad-shouldered men in trios (one of whom is always black looks like a fit version of Carl Winslow)? I feel like the opening to the trailer is out of another game. Like they took the Gears of War cut-scenes and added a couple 'thou's or something.

Wow, it's nice to see Rockstar is finally improving their visuals. Not that I don't appreciate their "less is easier" approach, but it's nice to see them challenging themselves by leaping over the 10-polygon barrier.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: The Wii is a "mistake"...

Things have DEFINITELY changed at Nintendo since the N64 days. Third party relations may not be perfect, but they're much much better. There's no question of that. They've also fixed the Cube's major downfall: image. To not admit they've totally improved the image from the Cube's purple is just denying reality. They may still be seen as less adult than Sony/Microsoft but there has most definitely been a change in their image from kidd1e. Less so among the internet games crowd, but even there the claims are less frequent and offensive.

Are there still mistakes? Yes. But they have changed a lot in major ways.

With the recent hullabaloo over reviews, I got to wondering why if so many people are angry they visit.

I mainly visit for the forums, but I also greatly enjoy the mailbags. I usually read the reviews but I must admit I usually just look at the highs and lows on Gamerankings when considering a purchase. I never listen to podcasts because, well, they're basically chat shows with nothing to look at and who needs that?
