GTA V?  Logistically, it doesn't make any sense unless Cafe is so awesome that Rockstar only wanted to put it on Cafe.  Can we have ports of all their current gen games for PS360 as well at launch.  :)

Goooooooooooood morning NWR!  I'll be at work telling my staff that I'm on a conference call.  We'll see how that goes.  Alright ladies, gents, and those who binge-game so much that you're incapable of gender differentiation...we've got t-minus 2 + hours.

Nintendo...please bring some extra cream and sweetener to the cafe.

Wouldn't it be awesome if during the Cafe presentation if Iwata said something to effect of... "PS Vita has Android...and we've picked up some friends of our own."  All attention from the show is on the big screen and Steve Jobs and crew popped up to announce iOS and iCloud for Cafe for navigating the new system and game storage respectively while WWDC is going up in NorCAL.  That's my dream moment right there.  Not going to happen, but I had a dream about it.

Anyway, get ready for pure awesomeness.

How much should we believe that little pic of a Wii-looking console.  The caption reads "Cafe is simply the most developer-friendly SDK the industry has ever seen.  Deliver unparalleled next generation performance at current generation costs.  It doesn't get any better than this."

Article mentions that it supports Blu-Ray.  Hmmm.

It's been proven fake beyond a reasonable doubt. The creators already have been outed and it was a class project to make a product, put it on the internet and receive atleast 5000 hits from it. I will assume they got an A++ and 1st choice of next assignment. I should have added it to my Rumor Consolidation and marked it as Fake, but it's in that thread somewhere if you look for it. Or you can just take my word for it.

Thanks BNM.  I'll see everyone here tomorrow morning.

$250 Vita seems like a 3DS killer?!  Sony really delivered on that price methinks.

The term "Microsoft" kind of describes their conference, eh?

Gives us a day to set our expectations low.  I thought MS kicked ass today...and I'm not a fan.

BNM, my bad on the Sony conference comment.  MS was strong though.  The cafe better come with some cream and sugar tomorrow.  IGN posted the controller confirmation via Nikkei.  I've got my fingers crossed that Iwata, Reggie, and Miyamoto are coming out with some boxing gloves tomorrow.  FIGHT!

There was nothing shown by MS for Sony to be worried about and much less Nintendo to even think about.

Sony hasn't even presented yet BNM. C'mon dude, I'm a Nintendo fan too, but don't shoot the competition down just yet. Nintendo should take notes on how to win back the so-called hardcore group.

Nintendo better bring their A-game because MS just delivered big with their Kinect line-up.

I'm all for Motion + controls for Skyward Sword simply because Nintendo needs to put their money where their collective mouth is and deliver a game that controls like what they've been preaching for the past 2 E3s.

Ugh...Nintendo fans. So finicky.

Not to sound misogynistic, but you guys are worse than girls. I am pretty sure none of you know what you want.

Even before the Wii came out, all we wanted was a Zelda game where we have 1:1 control. Now we are about to get it, so you don't want it anymore? Even after 5 years?

I get it, you aren't girls, you're children. You only wanted it because you couldn't have it.

Hell yeah we're a "finicky bunch".  Everyone on these forums acts like they sit on the Nintendo Board of Directors, but the truth is Nintendo would be broke with a "finicky" bunch like us running $#!+.  That's why we're almost always unhappy and the real Nintendo Board of Directors continues to make money.

That's a doozy of a list.  I would be happy if half that stuff happened.

Actually, I don't want Zelda re-directed to the Project Cafe.  Nintendo needs to develop Zelda from scratch for the Wii successor after they complete the Skyward Sword for the current generation.

...and then a first person jrpg shooter comes out that changes the industry and you're both right. :)

The hype machine behind a new Nintendo console has me hoping for the Big "N" monster of the NES / SNES era to show up and deliver.  Everything since the N64 (cartridge over CD and Squaresoft move), GCN (mini-DVD), and Wii (no horsepower) has kept the third parties away.  Let's hope third parties are so excited that they have a stream of piss rolling down their thighs with excitement.  Iwata is very open about solidifying relationships with third parties based on recent statements.

The cool thing about having an underpowered console...maybe the games that weren't powerful enough for Wii can be ported over.  I'll take a Mass Effect (trilogy) at launch please BioWare.

Pikimin is one of those weird Miyamoto games that is flat-out addicting.  Recently, my Microsoft fanboy cousin started playing Pikmin for the first time ever on the Wii.  He said he's been hooked on it like no other game he's had recently on his 360.

Even crazier is Pikmin 2 is 10 times better than the original...IMHO.

So I had a choice between the two today while at Costco...I chose based on this forum.  I sure hope my NWR people are right!

ShyGuy's system stopped reading discs and has to be repaired, and my system did the same thing shortly after reaching the hundred-hour mark in Modern Warfare. It is hard to say for sure, but it would seem that the Wii drive may not have been built to withstand this kind of constant streaming.

Yep.  I bought my Wii at launch.  Just had the drive replaced last summer.  It started making a loud disc spinning sound...and then died.

Waiting for the NWR review.   I saw some videos online.  It looks good for a Wii game.  I also enjoyed WoW and Reflex on Wii a lot.  Sooooooo...I'm already sold, just waiting for the funds to roll through.

Wow.  In my own gaming experience, Ocarina of Time is the greatest game ever made.  In 1998, Link was riding a horse around a living, breathing Hyrule world.  That set the standard for building a streaming game world.  It wasn't separated into levels (e.g., Super Mario 64).  Nintendo introduced the targeting-lock system of combat to address 3D camera problems.  The game featured elaborate in-game cutscenes.  It transitioned everything from the SNES Link to the Past seamlessly into 3D without making it feel like a platformer.  To me, this was the first sandbox game too...with all of the side quests and collectibles.

Good read.  There are a lot of details post-SNES that can also be explored.  The most important development is choosing cartridge over the disc-medium.  Quite honestly, being a huge Nintendo loyalist back then was hard because that decision alone cost Nintendo the third party support that they're still trying to win back.  It was that decision that cost Nintendo the exclusivity it enjoyed with Square and Enix (ironically merged today).  Final Fantasy VII was the game that turned that allowed Sony to outsell Nintendo.  I was working for Toys R Us at the time and I would run the numbers daily.  The PS1 didn't overtake the N64 in daily sales in the U.S. until Final Fantasy VII was released.
