I'm actually surprised at how poorly the Vita is doing.  It makes me wonder if the constant price drops these game companies put out have people waiting.

I got to try out a Vita today and I was impressed with it.  I had a PSP/DS last gen and haven't jumped into the new gen yet, but the Vita is a slick piece of equipment.  I think it's improved over the PSP in numerous areas.  The screen is supernice and the touch screen is great keeping in mind that people will be using their hands instead of a stylus.  The processor seems capable of putting out PS3 style graphics in the palm of your hand.   And the dual analog is a nice addition.

The 3ds I didn't get the same feeling.  I bought an XL and it's painful for me to go back to a screen that small.  I can still notice jaggies which were omni-present on most of the DS games.  And I'm not a fan of the slide pad, I'd rather have a stick.

Your whole post in general sounds like Sony propaganda, especially the second paragraph. Did Sony pay you to say that?

Yeah smallsharkbigbite, I've heard almost universally that if you get to try a PSPVita, you come away thoroughly impressed with the hardware. Are you thinking of buying one now that you've tried it?

Having got to briefly handle one myself at a Best Buy, I can attest to the quality of the screen and the sticks. The Vita really is an impressive piece of hardware for its US$250 asking price. And this is coming from some one who got a PSP and has no interest in buying a Vita at the moment.

Not at the moment.  Video games are still all about the games and the Vita is lacking in that regard.  Plus, like everyone else, I'm not willing to drop $250.  Not because I don't think it is worth $250, but I know in a year it'll be $200.  Or at least I can wait for a holiday bundle and get a free game with the system.  But I was impressed and it may be on my buy list at some point.  I have a 9 month old now, and while I don't have as much time for video games, I've found a portable system allows me to game in different rooms of the house while trying to keep my child maintained.

Lol, I wish they would.  I'm just impressed with the Vita hardware, have you tried it out?  From a games/price perspective, the 3DS still wins.  But you can see the 3DS is an extension of the DS line whereas the Vita feels like a new piece of hardware.  Thus, my dissapointment in the 3DS.  You have to really be excited about 3D to make the 3DS hardware feel impressive.  As someone who has Nintendo/Sony/Microsoft, I don't get into the rah rah my favorite developer released a new system so it's automatically better than anything else on the market.

Glad to see Kid Icarus selling well. PS Vita is looking more and more to be repeating PSP's success (or lack thereof) in the beginning. My guess is that, also like PSP, it will pick up sales wise later in its lifespan.

How long did it take for Sony to announce the first price cut for the Playstation 3? I was about to say that the Vita will likely follow an almost identical trajectory to the 3DS - the price is slashed substantially within a year of launching - before thinking that Sony may well be more stubborn than Nintendo. Hard to envisage, I know, but who knows?

On the flipside, the 3DS is doing great at the moment. I'm curious to see if it will get a bump when Pokémon Black 2 and White 2 are released. It's an extension of mainline Pokémon, so of course it will dominate the software charts - the question is, will it be existing DS owners snapping that up, or might it be something for people to enjoy with their new 3DS?

Lastly, I feel sorry for poor Little King's Story. The original release is probably in my top 10 list for the Wii, so I'm sad that it seems doomed to toil in obscurity wherever it goes.

I don't think a Vita price cut will be coming any time soon. The reason is because Sony is already selling it at a loss at its current price. When Nintendo was selling the 3DS at $250 they were making a huge chunk of profit, so cutting the price as drastically as they did wasn't a problem.

The Vita will drop in price eventually, but probably not until manufacturing costs drop. As we've seen with both the PS3 and PSP, Sony seems to be in these races for the long haul. They don't seem to care if they get off to a slow start. Its like the Tortoise mentality in the race with the Hare. I'm not going to say the Vita will ever surpass or even come close to catching up with the 3DS, but look what they've done with the PSP. You can be the 2nd place system and still do very well for yourself.

Here's a video of new characters--

Sounds like a HD remake to me if the article I read is correct, though I've read that it is a sequel in other sources.  Whatever it is, I hope it does well, LKS on Wii was fantastic and under appreciated.

It's a remake of the first game with a different artstyle to help it sell better.  It's already off to a worse start in Japan then the Wii version did but that has more to do with how terrible the Vita is selling.  Had the Wii version had this artstyle it probably would have done much better since it's more appealing to the audience the game is aimed at.

If I ever get a Vita I'll likely buy it if it ever comes out in North America, with those sales though, who knows. From what I seen it already leap frogged the Wii version by utilizing touch controls, I still have no idea why the game didn't use the Wii's pointer functionality at all.
