General Chat / RE:What is it with Pepsi lately??
« on: August 15, 2003, 06:24:02 PM »
Coke and Pepsi always copy off each other. There was Cherry Coke than Wild Cherry Pepsi. Pepsi Twist then Coke with Lemon.  I drink whatever is avilable but most of the time its the Cherry version of Pepsi or Coke. My favorte pop by far is Dr. Pepper, which is also the best selling individual drink, and is owned by some Cadbury Schweppes company. Even the new Cherry flavored Dr. Pepper they just launched is good.

As for not drinking Pepsi products, that would mean not eating at Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, KFC, or A&W, as they all of those companies. Which is why you find only Pepsi products. I noticed they fazed Dr. Pepper out of Taco Bell and replaced it with their own Cherry Pepsi, which I'm sorta indifferent on. But hey, it could of been worse.

I saw an ad for F-Zero nearly a month ago, maybe even sooner.

Yeah I beat all of the tournaments in a single sitting (even if that sitting was about 4 hours long). I seem to remember having a much harder time with the N64 one. Oh well, I hope they start the online tournament soon.

Yeah I checked 2 Wal Marts, 2 Targets, one Best Buy, one Meijer, and one K Mart for the game, none of witch had it. I tell ya I'm pretty damn sick of hearing about games coming out on the 28th (or whatever) and coming to find their not there.  While this isnt always, and often times isnt, the case, it still is far to often. Nintendo should push back the "posted" release date of every day but ship that at the same time so people wont be so disapointed, and waste costly gas.

Well it talks about the included compression software, so I'm assuming that means you can.
I'm pretty interested in this, the idea of watching Family Guy or Seinfeld episodes at school is pretty cool.

I'll go with the PS2 version myself. The reason the first one (technicialy 2nd one) for the PSX never got real popular was because you had to manualy type in the text. The new one supports a USB keyboard, is in 3D, and allows more custimazation, so I may pick that one up.

Nintendo Gaming / WARNING: Do NOT open the newest Nintendo Newsletter!
« on: March 24, 2003, 03:23:09 PM »
Yeah I saw it, but I didn't really care since I already knew. If you go to the now up and running Wind Waker site it basicly tells you the same thing. And even when I realized it at the site, I didn't really care, I guess i dont get emotional over things I'm gonna find out anyway. So you may want to warn people of the site as well.

Nintendo Gaming / New commercial
« on: February 10, 2003, 04:55:36 PM »
Yeah two Nintendo commercials within an hour and a half.... I never thought I'd live to see the day.
Looks like the Xbox pulling ahead really got them of their asses.

Nintendo Gaming / Is FF12 coming to GameCube? (discussion/debate)
« on: February 07, 2003, 02:05:14 PM »
From what I've seen, many FF fans don't take Crystal Chronicles to seriously because it's not a traditional Final Fantasy game. I've heard some compare it to (the terrible) Bouncer for PS2. And quite frankly, I dont plan on purchasing it, I'm more of a traditional FF gamer myself.

Nintendo Gaming / Pikmin 2 and Mario 128 in 2003!
« on: February 07, 2003, 11:34:43 AM »
Frankly I dont think the game will remain the same Mario 128 tech demo we saw at E3 2000, or will it even have the same name. I'm thinking it will be more like Super Mario 64. And it's more likely it would appear in 2004 considering Miyamoto said himself there'd be a new Mario game ever 2 years.

Nintendo Gaming / New Nintendo Dot Com poll - Fire Emblem
« on: February 05, 2003, 11:37:28 AM »
Yeah Ian Sane is right, these polls are put up by guys who just work at Nintendo.com/Nintendo Power, and not really for NOA directly. This poll would have the same amount of influence if it was on Planet GameCube's front page.

And besides it's obvious Fire Emblem is going to win because of Marth and Roy's appearance in SSB:M. The same way many people wanted the Mach Rider series to come back after seeing the trophy in smash bros., despite the fact it was never very good from the start.

Nintendo Gaming / I sent a letter to nintendo europe...
« on: February 05, 2003, 11:27:38 AM »
It was more or less a fine for limiting the amount of consoles going into Europe to keep the price (and demand) up. Nintendo only suggests a price. That's why you hear something like, "... for a suggested retail price of...". In theory a store could only charge .99 cents for all games, but it would be the retailers loss, not Nintendo's.

I belive Nintendo, and other console makers, don't see Europe and Australia as key places for a console to become succesful. Most of their attention gets put on Japan and North America, since we make up 4/5 of video game sales. And also, in Europe games must be translated into multiple languages more the diverse countries in Europe. It's easy for Japan and NA, it's just Japanese and English (occasionaly Spanish), respectively.

Frankly, when it comes to Smash Bros. I'd much rather be in the same room with 4 other lunatics at 4 am playing then with some random "Mariofan2937" who I can't taunt, yell, or throw things at.

I dont think Prime will have any trouble again Battlefield 1942. It's a good (online) game, but it doesn't really have a good single player story line, so Prime beats it out pretty easy. It'll most likely see more competition from Ratchet and Clank and/or Vice City.

I didn't care much for Ratchet and Clank, I'm a Mario-only man I guess.

Overall, I can't wait to see how these awards turn out. Some categories should be pretty close.

Nintendo Gaming / GameCube's Appeal to the Teen Audience
« on: February 02, 2003, 01:53:07 PM »
But that hasn't been held to true.

I've heard that same thing said by a top guy at XBox. Saying "we want your grandma to be able to play", and they obviously haven't had much luck with that. The fact is talk is cheap, it seems only the PS2 has been able to even partly deliver to a large main stream audience.

Nintendo Gaming / GameCube's Appeal to the Teen Audience
« on: February 02, 2003, 01:42:20 PM »
Yeah I agree that the absence of a DVD player has hurt the GameCube quite bad. More than a few times I've seen an un-informed parent purchase a PS2/Xbox over GameCube because they see the extra $50 for a DVD player more than worth it. I certainly hope they choose to include DVD playback in their next console. As well as backwards compatibility, it certainly helped move the millions of PSX owners into the PS@ muche easier.

Nintendo Gaming / GameCube's Appeal to the Teen Audience
« on: February 01, 2003, 12:20:18 PM »
It is largely Nintendo's fault. Mostly in the marketing area. They'll market a game that can be taken as "kiddy" non-stop to spots where teens will obviously be watching. But then for games like Metroid Prime, they'll advertise very sparcely during prime time. Rival companies, most notabley Sony, advertise old games months after there release to keep the game (and the mature content) in the public's eyes. I recall only seeing the Eternal Darkness commericial once or twice around 1am during crude, low brow (and thus (according to Nintendo) the perfect spot to advertise a mature game) programming like Howard Stern. Nintendo is a real sticler about not advertising mature games to younger children. But the fact of the matter is, they will buy the game anyway. So you might as well advertise durting shows that teens will be watching. I've seen Vice City commercials more than a handful of times during shows like The Simpsons and what have you. Also, dogcow has a point, even if voiced odd, that Nintendo is really bad about websites. Getting them up weeks, sometimes months after a games release, after it has slipped from a gamer's radar. Full sites should be up and swinging at least a month a head of time, because that is going to be the time when there is the most attention. The latest NP seems to be hinting that Zelda.com will be up BEFORE The Wind Waker is released, and most likely around the time when pre-orders begin. I certyainly hope this holds true, as Zelda could really help them out.
