Topic: Buy Wii Shop Channel games without points

I'm sure most of you know that last year Amazon started selling download codes for the WiiWare game World of Goo, this allowed you to buy the game without having to buy Nintendo Points (which would have left you with 500 points). Nintendo now seems to be doing this, at least with 2 games. Nintendo is allowing you to buy the Virtual Console game Super Mario Bros. 3 and the WiiWare game Pokémon Rumble right from their online website, which will give you a code to enter in the Wii Shop Channel (meaning you could just pay the $5 +sales tax to buy SMB3 rather than having to buy 1000 points).  It's a start at least, hopefully it does well enough to encourage Nintendo to eventually offer the entire Wii Shop Channel library like this.

That's a good idea, the VC Super Mario 3 really needs something to boost its sales.

At least it's a start, although I admit that it is odd that they started with one of the best selling VC games.

That's pretty bizarre. Must be some sort of trial program they are running. I can't see it getting many purchases though, given it's stuffed in the ancient Nintendo Store web app and barely marketed.

They'd probably be better off releasing a few WiiWare games on discs, which comes with inserts that are teasers for other WiiWare games and instructions for connection to the Internet.
