n-Space-Developed RollerCoaster Tycoon 3D 'On Hold'
« on: February 14, 2012, 01:45:33 PM »

The 3DS game based off of the popular PC series is stuck at the station.

RollerCoaster Tycoon 3D, originally revealed last year for a 2012 release, is on hold, according to a representative from publisher Atari.

Developed by Heroes of Ruin developer n-Space, RollerCoaster Tycoon 3D was on tap for a March 2012 release. In early February, n-Space confirmed to us that, as far as they knew, the game was still set for a March release.

As soon as we hear of a firm release date for the game, we'll let you know.

Atari's only other published title on 3DS is the WayForward-developed Centipede: Infestation. n-Space developed last year's Jaws: Ultimate Predator for 3DS, and is also working on the ambitious Heroes of Ruin with Square Enix.

Something is up.

All this wish-washing on the 3DS makes me wonder.

I briefly had Theme Park on the DS and thought it was just meh. I traded it in. I was looking forward to Roller Coaster Tycoon because the PC game seems very good (my kid played it a lot) and because n-space is a very good DS developer. I hope this comes out of on-hold status.

Supposedly the game is basically done, but Atari's holding it for some reason. I'll update this more when I hear more. Until then...courage.

Was a big fan of the series on pc.  Was really kinda looking forward to this, if it was a decent version.   Hopefully it will come out sooner or later.  As I would like a portable edition of the game.

What sense does it make to basically finish a game and then not release it? Oh hey, that reminds me, I should go into that other thread and suggest that Nintendo port Pennant Chase Baseball to 3DS.

It's Atari, weird decisions should be expected.

Basically, I believe n-Space found out about the game's delay from this story, which is both cool and sad.

Also, the game is completed.

Thanks!

The page also says that Nintendo approved the game back on January 31, so the game is not only finished but also approved by Nintendo. So Atari could release it anytime they wanted.

Those wily marketing geniuses at Atari will know just the exact right moment to release the game big. They've never been wrong.
