Nickelback is the most unimaginative, generic and boring "rock" band on the planet.
This plain and simple really. And this was a realization made in the early 00's after their first few singles. "How You Remind Me" was a success and the next few singles after that had the same formula to it. Keep in mind those were the days when I'd still occasionally watch MTV/VH1 or MuchMusic/FUSE for music, so having that annoying whiny rock come on every time I turn on the channel set the hate in pretty deep under the skin, like a horrible tattoo you regret every time you look at it.
That was over 10 years ago. I honestly didn't know they were still making music. Do I go around to this day hating on them? No, not at all. I'm not a freshman worried about whats cool, I have a more diverse palette in music and I definitely don't waste my time on music television/radio to find new acts. However, if I'm on a Nintendo sub-forum meant to be a place for jokes, and someone post a humorous picture where they're the butt of the joke, then yes I'll play along.
Point is: Nickleback, in my opinion, is a pretty 'meh' band. I saw them do a tribute to ZZ Top though and their tribute to Sharp Dressed Man was pretty good, but not enough to change my whole opinion of them. But thats the thing, it's just opinion, and while a forum is the perfect place to share and discuss that, the FUNHOUSE is supposed to be the place where everyone can put that stuff aside and act a fool.
At least a used to be. All this seriousness is what drove me away in the first place. Taking videogames seriously was one thing, the funhouse was a good escape from heated debates over pointless things, but no more. It's **** like these little arguments that made the rest of the forum bland and boring to the point where I only posted in the funhouse, then it ravaged this place like a plague.
To those who will retort "why keep coming back" - Frankly, this place still holds a place in my heart, I like seeing the same old 'faces' still posting and I really try to get back to those roots, but who knows if that'll ever happen..
