General Chat / Lessons in spellcasting
« on: June 21, 2004, 03:32:38 PM »
If you ever fall asleep in class in Japan you may learn a thing or two about spell casting. One boy who did fall asleep learned how to perform the Apology Spell with the help of his school's mage/bitter teacher.

General Chat / Let's talk business
« on: December 07, 2003, 04:15:46 PM »
Ok, so I was on Forbes.com looking at some numbers when I decided to look up my favorite corporation on the Pacific Ocean. Well I did. And I found something. My problem is, I don't speak the business lingo. Hopefully someone here can translate. This is what I found:

Rank 483
Name Nintendo
Country Japan
Sales Rank 1,001
Profits Rank 350
Assets Rank 1,005
Market Value Rank 394

Oh yeah. These numbers are for 2000. A little dated but it was all I could find.

General Chat / DSL blues
« on: November 09, 2003, 04:36:19 AM »
Ok, I just got DSL and I'm having a few problems that I'm hoping someone can help me with. (Also it may be of some importance that I recently upgraded to Mac OS X.3) I cannot access my website on angelfire (www.angelfire.com/super2/syko/index.html), I cannot view some images such as Bill's, ThePerm's, and swordsplay's avatars, and when I watch quicktime movies the quality is more like a lack thereof. If anyone knows how to fix any of these problems, your help would be greatly appreciated. (GN, I'll alot you 1.27 posts to bash Mac. After that, I'm gonna hafta chop someone's "little hobbit". )

EDIT: Ok this is really puzzling now. I check in on another computer and I could see my avatar and everyone elses'. What is going ON?!

General Gaming / Electromagnetic Tsunamis and the Wavebird
« on: October 30, 2003, 01:46:36 PM »
Ok, as I'm sure all/most/some of you already know, Earth was yesterday bombarded with the most powerful electromagnetic storm in recorded history. (I realize that the cromagnons weren't as accurate in their forecasting of these storms but according to Dr. R. Keeolujist they could still tell how powerful they were.) Today, (and I have NO idea whether or not the e-storm is over) I tried to use my Wavebird like I always do. By turning it (and my Cube) on. Well something funny (or as I call it, annoying as hell) happened: it didn't work. The controller light lit. The receiver and transmitter were both set at 1. I NEVER change this with the exception of today. I tried it at 16 each and 14 each. NOTHIN. Then I tried a different receiver both set at 1 again. NUTSIN! I then walked away in defeat while the Wavebird accepted the Championship Ring and Belt. Does anyone have and extensive knowledge on the effects of the solar flare storm on radio waves? I really wanna use my Wavebird. This. Is. Annoying.

Nintendo Gaming / Harvest Moon Delayes
« on: August 29, 2003, 08:11:23 PM »
I hope this isn't old new for everyone, but when I checked my email and IGN sent me a list of news from my Watched Games, there was an article that said that Harvest Moon was delayed. Possibly til 2004. I think they said it was because of sales. This is BAD news for me cause I already preordered it. I swear, if this ends up not coming to the States.... I was really looking forward to this. I was going to get it on Friday so I'd have a WHOLE weekend to fart around with it. I guess SC2 can keep me entertained for a while.

General Chat / Massive Blackout
« on: August 14, 2003, 02:08:07 PM »
For those of you who haven't either heard everywhere from Toronto to NY is under a massive blackout.   Looks like they won't be playing their Cubes not to mention able to keep their food cold, air conditioners working, subways functional, etc. etc. I hope this isn't Al Quaeda's idea of "terrorism". If they are responsible, they've been reduced to practical jokers.

Nintendo Gaming / Cheaper Games
« on: August 09, 2003, 07:18:21 AM »
It recently cam to my attention that Harvest Moon GCN is priced at $39. Then I remembered that MGS:TS is also $39. Is Nintendo pushing lower prices on 3rd party exclusives to boost sales? I can't think of another reason. I mean, they're already great games and with $10 off the typical new game price, they're are great buys. Has anyone else noticed any other titles coming to us for less?

NWR Feedback / Metroid Soundtrack
« on: July 25, 2003, 06:23:28 PM »
I'm sitting here listening to LOUIE FM's Metroid soundtrack and...WOW! This music seems better than in the game (except that I can't shoot stuff...darn). In fact there are a few pieces that I KNOW have been added to. (I think one was from the derelict space pirate ship.) Anyways I really love this music and was wondering if there were any plans to release this soundrack in the U.S. like they did with ED. I may love the stuff but it ain't $40 of lovin'.

Nintendo Gaming / Soul Calibur II Bonus Stuff
« on: July 09, 2003, 05:14:02 AM »
I'll bet less than 50% of you CARE, but nonetheless, I will share my experience. I went into GameStop to sell my Godzilla DAMM (It disappointed me; I was even more disappointed when they'd only give me $7 for it). Anyways I saw a poster there that said that if you reserve SC II, you'll get a book with some "official art" and I think the guy said character bios were in there too (he did say it was 120 pages). I'm thinkin' that's cool so I tell him to use the meager $7 he gave me as a down payment for SCII. I got a poster with some of the characters on it; looks good. When the game comes out, I'll be getting the book. I think I remember hearing somewhere that if you pre–order online at Gamestop, you'll also get a DEMO DISC with I–Ninja and....crap I don't remember what else was on it. But still! A free demo disc.

General Gaming / Disc sizes
« on: July 01, 2003, 06:16:48 PM »
Ok. Nintendo's li'l mini–donuts can store 1.5 GB. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Sony and M$'s  discs I think are somewhere in the range of 9 GB. Does anyone know how much of our mini–donuts are taken up in a game on average? Resident Evil takes up a lotta space  and I think the Matrix also had two discs. Would this have happened on PS2 or XB? If not why did Nintendo decide to go with mini–discs? Are they harder to pirate? Or are they trying to make others jealous of our incredibly compact discs (iCD ) which we can fit in our pocketses? Tune in next post to find out! Or maybe the next, next post in case someone just feels like venting their rage at Nintendo's loss of Acclaim.

Nintendo Gaming / Toonami on Zelda
« on: June 18, 2003, 01:11:33 PM »
I was watching Toonami (which I don't normally do; I'm not into anime) and I saw a review of Wind Waker! They gave it a 10/10.  (HOW COULD THEY DISRESPECT IT WITH SUCH A LOW SCORE?! 34/10 is more like it!) Anyways, the REAL reason I'm sitting here telling you about this "review" is because some of the game footage they showed puzzled me. They showed Link in the King of Red Lions pulling up treasure...or so I thought. His grappling hook pulled up some sorta iron-looking...thing. I wanna say it was a sub but it was about as big as Link. I dunno. I've had a lot of sugar and mayhap my eyes deceive me. Well that's all I have to say.
Over and out.

General Gaming / Metroid Error
« on: June 09, 2003, 03:39:44 PM »
I'm not sure if this belongs in this category so feel free to move it if you deem it unworthy of technical discussion. Anyways, I was just playing Metroid Prime and the black screen of death showed up. I had paused the game, and was looking at the log book screen (I believe that's the name of the screen. It shows the artifacts' configuration/logo thingy). I pressed down a few times on the control stick and my Cube started making funny noises as if it were scratching or being scratched. Then the music in the background started to skip and *WAMMO!* I'm lookin' at an error screen. The message, "An error has occurred. Please refer to Nintendo Gamecube instruction booklet," was written on the screen. I've looked over the booklet and it doesn't offer much help. So now I'm at the mercy of all of you. Or at least the nicer ones. Who know stuff about why this kinda thing would happen. I just don't want to do something that would hurt either my Cube or my game. If anyone has any idea what may have happened I would appreciate the help. Oh, and I checked, and my data was not erased.

EDIT: Ok, I didn't mean to put the "Big Grin" up there on the topic's smiley. I was trying to put it at the end of my message and nothing was happening and.... I'd better shut up before I sound even stupider than I do now.

Nintendo Gaming / Pictures in Wind Waker
« on: May 18, 2003, 06:24:31 AM »
Ok, two questions: 1. Who is the woman in the pictue in Tetra's Cabin in her ship? I was thinking it's  her mother but I'm not sure.
2. Where is Mario? He's made a cameo in practically every Zelda game to date, yet I didn't see him once in the Wind Waker. Mario is Missing! Anybody seen him?

Nintendo Gaming / Tetra's Stone
« on: March 29, 2003, 02:42:50 AM »
Ok. I wasn't sure if I should put this in the Gameplay Help Forums so feel free to move it if you think it does belong there. Anyway, my question is: Is it possible for Tetra's Stone to give you enemy descriptions? I'd kinda like to know the names of all the baddies I've been sliceing up. Thanks for your help.

Nintendo Gaming / Camcom vs. SNK 2 EO question
« on: February 22, 2003, 06:29:30 AM »
Alright, NOW I'm confused. According to the Capcom vs. SNK 2 EO box, the game is a GCN exclusive. However, I was leafing through a Circuit City ad and my eyes were scorched by the sight of that game on the xbox! How can it be a GCN exclusive and also be on the box? I thought Nintendo had really good relations with Capcom. Could some body fill me in?

Nintendo Gaming / Zelda is converting xbox fanboys!
« on: February 18, 2003, 01:10:49 PM »
amazing but true. I was looking through some xbox forums (dont worry. i dont like the xbox. i just wanna know what goes through those fanboys' heads.) and i this guy was saying how he thought the new zelda was going to suck major @$$. Then he went into babbages, played around with the zelda demo and immediately fell in love with it. He then reserved a copy. I was in tears. (ok no I wasn't but still...) If a demo can change the mind of an xboxer, this game is gonna ROCK!
