Total N64 games: 387 WAY OFF

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Nintendo_64_games

Jonny, you guys should consider issuing a correction on this, even if you disregarded half these games you'd have nearly double of what you guys said was the N64 game library. You guys are recording tonight aren't you?

A lot of those are Japan only.  The list on Metacritic, for those reviewed by popular US sites is much shorter:
http://www.metacritic.com/games/n64/alpha/

Note - None of the games on the list are European only, sorry Greg!    ;)

I've gone through that list of games, and I've already found many missing that came to america. Including:

AeroFighters Assault
All Star Baseball 2000
All Star Baseball 2001
All Star Tennis 99
Army Men: Sarge's Heroes
Armorines: Project S.W.A.R.M.
Automobili Lamborghini
Asteroids Hyper 64
AeroGauge

And that's just in the A's.

James calculated the other day that 300 N64 games were released in America.  So yes, we'll issue a correction on this week's show.

Wow, 300 huh?  Coincidence or symbolic of how Nintendo tried to stand up against the CD Manufacturing Empire with just 300 cartridges?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but did Jonny say the yoga in Wii Fit wasn't a big part of the game? There are more Yoga exercises then anything else.

I was going to make a smartass remark about this but Jonny doesn't seem to like me very much right now and I don't want to get banned.

Have to disagree about Assassin's Creed. Great visuals, the animation and character control are very good, but the world is just so empty. There's very little color or flavor in the world. You compare it to Hyrule in Zelda, but at least in Zelda there are spiders to find, treasures to uncover, enemies to kill. The setting and style of Assassin's Creed are great, and really stand out from generic space marines, but the content of the game could have all been fit into a world a tenth of the size.

about what greg said about no more heroes. there is no blood in the european version? that's strange. the game still has the excessive swearing right? then why did they edit  out ll the blood? (not that i really care)

European ratings are not forgiving to blood and violence.  In order to avoid a harsh rating (or out-right ban in the case of the Germans) blood and stuff needs to be kept to a minimum.

This is also very sociological.

America is very prude compared to Europe but more violent.
Europe has no problem with nudity and sexual themes in movies and other media, however violence they don't like. Something like Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles might to harsh for Europe as is, but sexy stuff they have we couldn't put on prime-time tv.

It's very interesting. part of the reason America was founded was because left Europe because it wasn't conservative enough.

anyway this might get political so I'm going to stop, but allot of people don't realize how polar opposite Europe and America when talking about sex, violence in media.

Regarding No More Heroes, there was nothing uniquely European about the bloodless version, as it was originally released like that in Japan. Subsequently, with the stricter standards that prevail in Germany and the UK and in the midst of the Manhunt 2 controversy that was still ongoing at the time, it was clearly just the path of least resistance to go with the Japanese visuals for Europe. I don't know whether any profanity was removed also, but the PEGI content descriptors mention profanity, so at least some made it into the PAL release.

I just wanted to comment on James' suggestion to make Pokemon use real-time battles.

Square-Enix tried that with Dragon Quest IX.  Japan threw a hissy fit and they were forced to change it back.  The exact same thing would happen if Nintendo tried to change Pokemon's core game play.

Don't blame Nintendo for the lack of evolution in Pokemon--blame Japan.
