Isn't Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate just the console version of the 3DS game, with added online?

Actually the 3DS version has online as well.  One of the selling points has even been that the Wii U players can play online with 3DS players so there's no split in the online fanbase.

The 3DS version never had and will never get online. You can link up your 3DS game with your Wii U game, but the 3DS doesn't have online play.

Yeah, Noname2200 is correct, the 3DS version has no online. You can play local multiplayer with 3DS and Wii U, but not online multiplayer. You can also transfer your character back and forth between the two games. I also thought that they redid the graphics in the Wii U game so that it looked better than just being upscaled, but I'm not sure on that.

So yes, to answer Noname2200's original question, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate is the Wii U version of Monster Hunter 3G on 3DS with added online.

Depends on how many Wii U's Nintendo has shipped to Japan and how high the demand stays.  If they've shipped over a million systems and it sells over 300k each week until the end of the year it might.

I get the feeling it won't do it by the end of this year but will probably surpass it by at least February.  Mario, Monster Hunter and Nintendo Land should give it some good legs for the next few months over there.

The Vita is a disaster that's beyond saving at this point.  To do this badly during the holiday shopping season in the one territory the PSP was actually strong in shows how incompetent Sony has been with this device.  I don't expect the system to last past 2013 the way things are currently going.

In all seriousness, you know how everyone¹ says the Vita has no games when it's clearly not true? Well, in Japan, what's the major Vita exclusive for Japan? And I mean actual exclusive, not PSP/Vita or PS3/Vita.

Given that, is anyone shocked that the Vita's doing bad in Japan?

Wii U has a steady third week. Animal Crossing reigns supreme with upticks from Paper Mario and New Super Mario Bros. 2. Monster Hunter Tri Ultimate drops out of the top 20.

Wow, I wouldn't have expected Animal Crossing New Leaf to become the best-selling 3DS game in Japan. And this doesn't include digital sales, right?

It does not include digital sales directly from the eshop.  I believe it does include sales of the cardboard copies with codes on them from the stores though (basically the ones that people walk it and buy a code instead of a game cartridge and then download the game after putting the code into their 3DS).

Wow, if the 3DSLL has anywhere close to the same week next week, it will actually double the LTD sales of the PSV.  That's just nuts.

PS Vita somehow sees a 50% increase in hardware despite no new games, no new colors, and no games in the top 20. Nintendo hardware dominates software sales with 17 of the top 20 games being on Nintendo systems. Animal Crossing continues to dominate in Japan and hits the 2 million mark, and Mario Kart 7 is quickly closing in on 2 million copies sold. 3DS also breaks the 10 million mark.

I like reading GAF because it's so active but man, I don't see how a Nintendo fan can leave that place without feeling depressed. But it's gamer culture, just like sports culture except we rarely kill each other.

So what is Wii U's total now WW? Like 2 Million?
