Renegade Kid Gauges Interest in Mutant Mudds Retail
« on: January 04, 2013, 04:26:00 PM »

And the results will either excite or disappoint you!

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/32913

Jools Watsham, co-founder of Renegade Kid, recently took to Twitter to measure interest in a retail cartridge containing Mutant Mudds and its upcoming sequel.

Based off retweets and favourites, Watsham surmised that respondents preferred the retail compilation over a 3DS eShop-exclusive release (the other option provided). The results by no means confirm any such plans, as Watsham insisted they were gathered out of his own curiosity.

Mutant Mudds 2 was confirmed back in June of 2012, when Watsham revealed the game would remain a 2D platformer, and that each of its five new worlds would house a boss battle in addition to the four stages.

Mutant Mudds 2 has no announced release date, but Watsham confirmed it will not see release this quarter. Renegade Kid will soon be releasing both ATV Wild Ride 3D for the 3DS eShop, and Mutant Mudds Deluxe for the Wii U eShop.

I can only speak for myself but the idea of a retail compilation of both games doesn't appeal to me in the slightest. I already own the first game so there's no way I'd pay full retail price for a compliation of both games. For people in my position that would be tantamount to paying full retail price for Mutant Mudds 2 (which I can only assume would be similar in scope to the first game).

Releasing them both as a compilation at retail is fine for those people who don't already own the first game, but for those who do, Renegade Kid really need to release Mutant Mudds 2 as a standalone on eShop (which I'm sure they will).
Gouge away.

To me, games of that style and appeal needs to stay digital as a main platform and go retail in compilation form only.

i don't have a problem with this. Release it for $20 new and it could sell tons of copies being a ' cheap 3ds game' . I'll buy the digital sequel, but if this can generate more revenue for the company than go for it.

I haven't bought Mutant Mudds yet, so this would be pretty cool for me - especially if Renegade Kid decided to collaborate with some other eShop developers for something like the Xbox Live Arcade Unplugged collection

Were sales numbers for Bit Trip Saga released? It would be kind of interesting to know if it succeeded on 3DS at retail
