Surely it's not too late to bring back Brosnan in the next Bond if they wanted. Weren't they talking about reworking the series again to make it more like it originally was?

Toy Story 3. Amazing. Sentimental but not grossly overdone. I thought Pixar's last 2 films, Wall*E and Up, were more emotionally resonant. Especially Up. I almost turned the movie off when Ellie died in the beginning. Still, Toy Story 3 definitely had moments that melted my heart. Anyway, the ending was predictable. As soon as Bonnie showed up, I turned to my brother and told him I knew what was going to happen. Still, predictable doesn't necessarily mean bad. Most of the time it does, but on a few rare occasions, it works because it was the only logical way to go. I couldn't think of a better way to end the movie or the series. The attic is worse than the toy box. Sure, they don't get thrown away, but they're forgotten and maybe Andy's kids plays with them in like 15-20 years. The daycare, specifically the Butterfly Room, isn't ideal either. They're never outgrown, but they never get the same attachment that they had with Andy. Bonnie inheriting the toys and playing with them give them want they wanted, even if it's ultimately short-lived. Andy playing with his toys one last time before giving them to Bonnie was a fitting, bittersweet end. Sure, they'll have to go through all of that again when Bonnie gets older, but for the purposes of ending the series, the ending they went with was absolutely perfect. I loved this movie. My favorite of the 3.

Toy Story 3 completely made up for the underwhelming second installment. In fact, I'm on the fence as to whether or not I liked it more than even the original film!

If there are any studio executives reading the forums, I want you to know that I would totally pay to see a movie based on this idea.

EDIT: Or better yet, bring back all of them: Connery, Moore, Lazenby, Dalton, Brosnan, and Craig. Maybe there's a villain with some sort of time portal and he makes all the different Bonds fight to the death on an island somewhere.

Maybe we could see Connery as the villain? Remember the old 60's parody version of Casino Royale, with Peter Sellers? It was suggested that James Bond was simply a codename to go with the 007 designation. That way their top agent could live on forever, like the Dread Pirate Robinson! Anyway... perhaps Connery returns, full of knowledge of MI6, to undo the latest Bond? After all, he's already been brought back twice (Diamonds Are Forever and Never Say Never Again), what's to stop for a third outing?

Heh. I've always thought it would be awesome to do a last James Bond adventure with either Connery in the lead role or else someone else who faces off against a villianous organization run by all the previous Bonds. Think of it in a sort of Kill Bill idea of Bond facing off against each one seperately as he climbs to the top (Connery). But I just can't decide whether Bond or Connery should win.

As for the previous Bond comments in this thread, while I was also disappointed that Brosnan didn't get better films to use his talents in, once I saw Casino Royale, I've never once felt the need for Brosnan to return. One of the best Bond films ever. You want a world-weary Bond? Craig is more world-weary in that movie than Brosnan was in all of his. Of course, the ultimate world-weary Bond is Timothy Dalton. Thanks to Craig's Bond, I've found myself enjoying Dalton's portrayal more and more. They're actually sort of similiar.

As for the comment about the movie having no pacing, wow! You want no pacing, watch Thunderball. Frankly though, I wish movies would slow down more. I loves me classic films. 30's-60's with some silent movies thrown in for good measure. If Casino Royale is too slow for you, you will never be able to enjoy some really great movies.

What if there's like a retirement home hidden deep in Mi6 full of the old James Bonds?

Elderly Bond chick: Weren't you James Bond?

Sean Connery: Depends.

Curse of the Golden Flower

This was my second time watching this movie, and it was better than I remembered.

The plot develops slowly and feels forced at times, but carries the movie well enough.  Acting is strong despite flat characters and some limited roles.  It's always a pleasure to watch Gong Li, even when she isn't doing her best work.  The cinematography was disappointing - with so many gorgeous costumes and temendous sets, you rarely felt that camera work did justice to the film.

The biggest disappointment stemming from Curse of the Golden Flower is that is simply doesn't reach the heights (visually or emotionally) that some of Yimou Zhang's other films achieve.

Recommended for fans of drama and foreign film.

haha Ejamer...Curse of the Golden Flower, the thing that sticks out in my mind from that movie is the scene where the ninja is running around the ridiculously colored palace wearing all black and sticking out like a soar thumb....and not getting noticed.

Just saw Rocky Balboa. Good way to end the franchise, and I guess they made the right decision in the ending. They filmed two different endings, one with Rocky winning and one with Mason winning, both are included on the DVD/Blu-ray Disc release. It's nice seeing how Rocky and Paulie deal with Adrian's death and how the first half of the film is Rocky being stuck in the past and struggling to move on without his wife, and then realizing how much boxing meant to him (in the audio commentary by Stallone, he mentions that he had Rocky leave the ring before the winner was announced since the fight was never about winning or losing for him).

The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus 7.5/10.

Much better concept than execution, but it was interesting nonetheless.

The ending was rather unexpected which I liked, but I didn't really like the Devil.

The concept of the Devil in the movie was good, but the actual execution of the character was near terrible imo.

Good movie overall, acting was mostly solid with a few 'misses', but I felt the telling of the story was a little weak, especially considering that it was a movie about a story teller of sorts.
Silly monkeys; give them thumbs they make a club and beat their brother down. How they survive so misguided is a mystery. Repugnant is a creature who would squander the ability to lift an a eye to heaven conscious of his fleeting time here.

Pirate Radio 7/10

Very very funny, but not much of a story. Most of the movie was spent on the people aboard the ship, and the struggling of playing rock music in the U.K during the time seemed like an after-thought.

Despite that, the characters are very likeable/memorable and there are even some serious moments (surrounded by comedy) of examining humanity.

Would have rated it higher if it was about 30mins longer and had a little more depth both on and off the boat, but mostly off. It seemed like they cut out A LOT of what was filmed off the boat which from the parts they kept, seemed rather interesting.

Finished Quantum of Solace the other night, and aside from a spectacularly awful opening music number (seriously, rap/hip-hop for a James Bond opener?) I liked the movie better than I thought I would.  There's some good continuity from Casino Royale, some genuinely-well done emotional scenes with Bond, and Daniel Craig actually seems comfortable as James Bond now.  I liked the increased screentime for M, though I'm starting to wonder if they'll ever introduce Q.  The pacing was a little better than Casino Royale, though the plot was simiarly hard to follow and tried so hard to be a social commentary on the modern political scene that it forgot to be fun.  At least the villain got a suitable end that fit the movie well.  And yeah, the cinematography was wretched, fond of just cuts and camera shaking that just made the action scenes either dull or confusing to watch.
There was a Signature here. It's gone now.

The idea behind these two films with Craig was to re-introduce Bond as an action hero. There was a plan to integrate Bond's womanizing and his various sidekicks, Q included, into new movies.

Got to see Saw 3D today. It was mostly good, I guess. The acting in some of the characters was absoultely terrible. Jigsaw's widow and the main detective were particularly bad. The ongoing retcon that's been the span of sequels continued in full force with the movie's (and series') being based on a retcon. What I liked was the gore. Everything was filmed (sometimes without even the need for it) in 3D. It didn't feel like a cheap gimmick. Depth was used more than breaking the 4th wall, which I prefer in my 3D movies. The deaths were good. Some looked a little fake. Most occured with me wanting the person to die, but not always. There were some deaths that the main "victim" of Jigsaw seemed to be unable to prevent in his game. Also, 3 people died in the game and were there because they were jerks, but his wife was there and died because he himself didn't know how strong human biceps were. She did nothing wrong and got burned alive, while the guy gets to live (though, miserably). This bothered me a good deal.
I'll give it a 6/10. Not as polished as other entries in the series. Good use of 3D. Mostly good effects.

no, i mean it just looked like really cheap....like I know the first movie was just 2 guys in a room, but what I saw looked like a low budget in the way that caterpillar man looks low budget. Not saying that makes it a bad movie, but the suspension of disbelief totally was taken away.
