Rohq:  I think he was referring to how great the game was after Rare was able to get used to the Extra RAM and programming for the Nintendo 64.

The Nintendo DS maybe having developer problems figuring out creative useful ideas for the 2 screens, but once they get comfortable with the system and how to maxiumize the code then games and functionality of all DS components will become more advanced and completely realized.

I'm interested in the PSP, but as long as Nintendo has a portable system with a decent number of games available I won't bother buying one because I don't have time to play both.  There is also the constant nagging about price and battery life, but the price will obviously go down over time, and I doubt that Sony will release the portable with extremely poor battery life given all the whining the public is doing about it - although the system might have to be delayed to fix that.

Question:  Will you or are you disappointed when games don't every feature the DS has in its games?  Will you be upset if the touchscreen isn't used within every game?  Or the Microphone?  or Wireless connectivity?  or even dual screen play?

No, but I do believe Nintendo should be leading the way with major games that make extensive use of the features.  I don't think a developer should be required to use the features if there's no point in using them, but there's also no point in putting the features in there if developers never use them or if they are used poorly.  I will be disappointed if the features are never / rarely put to good use.
That's my opinion, not yours.

1.  I want to buy the system at launch, but I have to get MP2 and have to pay for my apartment, so I might not be able to.  Hopefully the MP demo will still be included later on.

2.  If I could, I'd get Mario 64 and probably Ridge Racer.....

3.  As I said before...I'm poor...as a boar without an oar

4.  Animal Crossing, Civilization and Soul Calibur

5.  PSP is like my phone...but my phone is better because it was only 40$ and it does the exact same things...minus the graphic capability though.

It looks like Nintendo hit gold packing that Metroid Demo into the DS units.  I think that alone seems to be getting people excited about the DS.

I see multiplayer Cafeteria deathmatches and dorm room battles becoming a norm with this system.

1) Depending on the quality of the games I might buy it next year shortly after launch or hold off until a few good games came together. None of the US launch titles seem worth it to me (all filed under "negative").
2) not applicable
3) I'm waiting for good games. Maybe, if the launch games turn out good enough, I might get the thing immediately, but all signs point to "no".
4) None that I could think of.
5) Doesn't look any better, in fact it smells like failure already. I'll see if the PSP can offer games I'd like, but it's unlikely to do so before the DS does and I'm not going to support more than one handheld platform at a time.

KDR:  Thanks for your response.  Its good to see honesty.  And I like how this board doesn't bash anyone with more negative responses towards Nintendo than not.  (The IGNboards used to be brutal to people that would speak poorly of whatever system.)

1. At launch. I'm probably going to preorder.

2. Mario 64 for sure, and probably Feel the Magic also.

4. Warioware.

5. None. The battery life and price scare me. At night.

1) I will buy a Nintendo DS the first day I can get my hands on one, yes, at launch.

2) Super Mario 64 DS is the main game, but i'd also want Spiderman 2, Feel the Magic, Rayman, Ridge Racer and Mr Driller at launch. I'll get as many of those I can afford.

4) The prospect of a new Pokemon RPG, Wario Ware DS and Advance Wars DS are three titles i'm really interested in, but i'm interested in anything that offers new ways of gaming, the actual DS system is what sold me.

5) I am interested in how badly the PSP will bomb, and look forward to amusing myself with DS/PSP sales comparisons.

1) later, cuz of no moolah

2) money-less again!

3) I need to go whore myself out first

4) I wish warioware was a launch title

5) consider this, the PSP is set to launch this year in Japan, so there are bound to be preorders already set there. The thing is though, DS is already the third fastest selling console in Japan. What does this tell us?

I'll tell you what's stupid, people entering the DS forum just to say they don't like it. This tends to happen in many places actually.

I just want to say thanks again for everyones responses.

It seems we got some good perspective from atleast the people from this board.  Now, I guess the thread is dead, since I really don't have any more questions to ask.

Anyway, I will see you all on another thread.

Thanks again.

Spak.

1)  Hopefully will be getting it or be yanking one from the SO before launch, if they choose to do that for the employees anyway.

2)  It depends on what's there.  Not quite sure yet.  Hoping for more titles to be announced.. lol

3)  Not.. tee-hee!

4)  No particular game sold me on the system.  Just hearing about the new concept drove me to it!
