See, it's analogous because my whole opinion is that brawl is a better game without it.  :)
That's fair, but the issue isn't how good of a game it is. The issue is using tools that others call cheap. If everyone agrees not to use C-stick, then C-stick is out. But you have to get everyone to agree. If someone doesn't want to agree to that, then that's perfectly fine as well.

It's like asking everyone to agree to not use shields or jumps. If everyone agrees, then that's one thing, but you can't fault someone for jumping and shielding if they don't want to play by additional rules.

2
That said the above quoted argument is just silly.  Trying to claim that I am "blaming my failure" is a relatively immature stance to make.  You created a rule that fails on SO many levels.  To jump back to basketball, let's say someone created a league where they got rid of the dribbling requirement.  Both teams wouldn't have to dribble, so that would be fair, but it doesn't make the new version of the game any less lame.
I believe that crying "cheap" on game input methods is immature.

In your situation, if they got rid of the dribbling requirement, you are correct: it would be a fair, lame game. If one team decided that dribbling is the right way to play, even in this dribble-less league, and cried 'Cheap!' every time the other team didn't dribble, then they would be fooling themselves. Both teams should play by the rules, but nether should get mad if team B doesn't play by team A's made up rules.

Yes, it would be a lame game, but it would be because it would have been a poorly designed game.

That being said, if you were in a tournament with special rules, then you should follow them.

3
I used to think that C-Stick smashes were cheap. Same with edge guarding and some other tactics.

Then I read an article about playing to win, and realized I was dead wrong.

"Cheap" is a term used to transfer blame on one's own failure to an alleged unfair advantage.

As long as all the tools are available to every player, it's not 'cheap'.

From an analogy in the article, Cheap would be like a group of normal people playing basketball with 7-foot people, but the analogy breaks when you realize that both teams have a become-seven-feet-tall button.

The bandwidth doesn't matter. The internet in Japan is just as fast as everywhere else, you just get more of it at once.

Some games track hundreds of items at once. 4 players and a handful of items is fairly trivial if you have a better connection than dial up. Low speed DSL is probably fine. It's distance that really starts to get you, and even then I'm sure you can play across the US just fine as long neither end of the connection is downloading with bittorrent or anything.

I've learned a few things from that video.

1. There is a timer on the "The winner is..." screen. That means you won't have to hunt down that one player that took his wavebird into the room where everyone else is playing WoW after he lost early and make him press start so the rest of you can play a new game.

2. The 16-bit Life Question is over. Mario is apparently better than Sonic. (by about 2 points)

3. Samus is hot.

4. Mario is an idiot, he ran directly into a bumper 3 times. Almost killed him.

5. Samus's final smash is bigger than it looks (by at least a foot).

To answer your question about steam...It's the best thing to happen to computer games sense computers.
Steam is the only way I'd buy a Valve game as it has a ton of things going for it.

1. You don't have to go to the store to get your game.
2. Your game work on any computer you log into with your steam account. I've downloaded a game, played it for an hour, gone to a friends house, signed in, downloaded it again, and played let my friend play it for a few hours.
3. Games also work offline (provided you sign in at least once). This won't work for TF2 (except the developer's commentary) but for half life and portal it would work fine.
4. You never need a CD key again. You'll never need a CD again. If you computer gets sucked into a BLACK FREAKING HOLE you can just resume your game (from the beginning) on your new computer. I've transferred the Steam directory from my computer to a completely different computer, just copy and past, and it worked perfectly.

On topic, TF2 is the best thing to happen to Team Fortress sense computers.

Edit: I forgot to answer your questions...You can do a lot with it. You can make backup copies (but you don't need to). You need to use steam but you don't have to be online when playing single player games, it's not an issue really. It can be a bit of a wait, but a lot of the games share components, for example Portal, TF2 and HL2:ep2 all use the same engine, so you only download that once. The actual time it takes depends on your internet connection and day. If you download it the first day it comes out, it will be a slightly slower download than normal, any other day and you will most certainly be the bottleneck. You can pre-order now, and download all the files ahead of time, when the game comes out it will unlock all the files, and you can play the TF2 beta right now.

I think you guys are looking at it the wrong way. SSBB is not giving free advertising to MGS4, MGS4 is giving free advertising to SSBB!
PlayStations are known for having Metal Gear games, it's what they do. That's a FACT. Nintendo's are NOT known for having Metal Gear games (unless your are old school). If you go up to someone and say, "Have you checked out that Metal Gear game for that Nintendo system? It's awsome!", they will respond, "Oh, you meant to say either PlayStation or PlayStation 2. Clearly you did not mean to say 'Nintendo', as my in-brain Googleing of '+Nintendo +Metal_Gear -Twin_Snakes' turned up 0 results".
The only think that might happen is that ads for MGS4 will give some free exposure to SSBB, but more likely they won't effect each other very much.

As for Kojima's evil Nintendo comments, I think It's a simple matter of putting Business Sense before personal endeavors. If a game company was pitching an idea to Nintendo, "This game will be the next unholy union of Goldeneye, Halo, Tribes 2, and WoW in multilayer awsomeocity, and here is PROOF, you cannot fail and will make trillions of dollars." Nintendo is not going to say, "Yeah, well you called us 'Poopie heads' 5 years ago, and now you want us to mutually benefit each other? Go away, good luck finding a publisher who wants to make money".

A good business person isn't going to care about some guy calling it's product a lunch box. All that matters is what ends up on retail shelves (or rather what flies off retail shelves after marketing). If a picture of snake on the box helps sell 1,000 more copies of SSBB, it will be worth it.

It was "Video Land", and your NES gun doesn't work? I've modded mine, as well as an NES controller belt with a flux capacitor to do that jumpy/runny/pausy thing.

All seriousness aside, I would imagine it would be difficult for Nintendo to justify the ability to shoot your little sister's likeness with Snake's rocket launcher or a Sonic Spin Attack. Then again you can box your little sister's likeness in Wii Sports, so it may happen still.

I'm just making fun of the fact that he is very positive that there is an alternative to friend codes to the point where he posts fake screens to prove his point.

I'm not saying they will use system codes OR they are using OFCPG codes either. My point is that I don't know, and getting my hopes up (or down) is pointless.
Internally (in my mind), it looks like they are using the OFCPG method, however I'm not going to say "Gosh dang it!" until I have some real evidence to back up my cynicism.

I wish that were the case, but as Bill pointed out, the code entry in the screen is 12 digits whereas the Wii codes are 16 digits.

So? Screenshots don't always reflect reality. There are several explanations that come to mind
*This is a test version and those X's are placeholders until they get the friends code working better
*The whole screen is a mockup.
*You all miscounted the amount of numbers in friends codes.
*It's temporarily running off Striker's net code until they make the changes required to use the global friends code system.
*It really needs extra friends codes in addition to the Wii's address book.
*There is an unlikely firmware update that reduces the amount of digits needed for a Wii friend code, which is also my Thursday the 20th "Predict the daily update" guess

There are plenty of explanations. Some good some bad, but I think it's silly to assume how friends code system works internally until they come out with the "Friends codes were built wrong" daily update.
They might very well be using the OFCPG (One Friend Code Per Game, or 'Offkepig') but I don't know, and on top of that, I know I don't know.

That argument is absurd. All it proves is that their electronics follow inflation, while all other computer equipment on this planet falls in price over time. I mean, back in '95 a 166MHz with 32megs of ram and a 2.5GB hard drive costs $1699USD (that was '97 actually, Archive.org only shows '96 and beyond)

I think there will be a short period of time where the pokemans cannot be vinced (i.e. invincible), but so does dodging, rolling, and teleporting. Perhaps to make up for it right when a new Pokemon appears, while the new 'mon is going "Raaarrrrr" and doing that ferocious yell-into-the-sky thing that they do, they are unflinching but can still take damage. It's sort of like how Ike's Aether move works (i'm an expert with him in SSBB by the way).

That would work great. Any other audible command would not fit right as the pokemon would start doing the move before 'PT' not to be confused with PiT actually yells the name of the move (or add a delay to any move worth mentioning). He'd be all like "Charizard!" and I would proclaim "ZOMG! that IS Charizard!"

Oh, and some things I am wondering about:

1) Will you actually hear Red yelling out his commands?
I think his mouth will move and he'll point in the direction your moving, like a soccer coach or something. You will see him yelling but he won't actually audibly say anything. (otherwise they'd have to make him actually say stuff, if he's yelling non-verbally, then he's just yelling "commands".

2) On stages that move like Rumble Falls, it'll be interesting to see how Red keeps up with the fighting!
Yeah, whatever. That's not a question so I can't answer it. Jerk. Use a question mark next time, it's right there under your pinkie finger.

3) Will you be able to access a Female Trainer costume?
I hope so, just like I hope they have a non-hamster Fox, and both ZS Samus and Zelda with Bikini alt-costumes. (hell, they should even throw a bikini on armored Samuses amour, just to be thorough.

4) Final Smash: Pokemon-specific or Red-specific?
I think the Final Smash might be the Trainer throwing out sh!t-tons of pokeballs, in every direction, like grenades.

5) When multiple Reds are picked, how will the Trainers in the background be organized?
They can fist fight each other in the background. Now you have to watch out in two dimensions (two dimensions of 2D fighting = at least 4 dimensions).

6) Continuing on #5, will the different-colored Pokemon wear hats like Pikachu?
Yes, they wear that almost-nike hat that's in the cartoon.

7) Will a lack of stamina result in HP damage, or just make the Pokemon dizzy, etc?
I would think that they just have less power after a while. Punches don't deal as much massive damage and all that. That's how stamina effects me anyway. But if I over exert myself, I do start to feel dizzy.

Having a character in the background doesn't necessarily mean you can't play as that character.
They could simply delete the character from the background if you happen to be that character. Or just populate the background at random with characters you didn't select (a la Wii Sports). They probably wander around anyway, treating the battle like an event that happens to be going on in their town.

They are probably being vague on purpose. If they said:
"We are going to deliver the kiosk on the 28'th of October. You should probably have it set up that night, don't wait for the morning...You should probably vacuum your store as well, make it all pretty looking. Oh, and move all large objects away from you front counter, enough to make room for a huge line of customers, no reason. Is your store open the next day, that's entirely coincidentally a Sunday right? You should probably open up even if you have religious reasons, no reason, who said there was a reason, I didn't say there was a reason........28'th"

Then people might suspect foul play is afoot.

after a closer inspection it looks like those "official" and "real" docs are very very FAKE
is that a wrinkled paper background texture applied to the documents?
It would have looked more authentic if the person had actually printed it out and then crumpled the paper himself then scanned it back in.

Yeah, if you increase the contrast on any two of the 'documents' the 'wrinkles' are in the exact same 'place'
(I'm using 'finger quotes' as I type all this)
