I'm curious to see how the PS3 fares from the release of the slim.

I bought a PS3 slim yesterday, the day of the Japanese release, but I seemed to be the only one doing so at that store (which also had a huge stack of unused "reservation tickets" for them...), though it's a very very centrally located and busy game store.

1. Pokemon Diamond/Pearl - 5,709,235
I don't think the sales figures of these two games should be lumped together. I'm willing to bet that a significant number of people bought both of them.

Are they not essentially the same game though? Just because they switch a few of the pokemon around and change the color of the cart, doesn't really make it a different game. I say lump them together.

I wouldn't say it's a large number, but I agree that they shouldn't be lumped together. No surprise that New Super Mario Bros. is the best selling DS game.

06./00. [PSP] Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny (Namco Bandai) - 29,000 / NEW

If PSP can get a crapy port of Soul Calibur 3 why can't the Wii?

Maybe Nintendo does not want any of their characters to be used again, or someone at Namco-Bandai thinks that the poor sales of Soul Calibur Legends won't justify it.

Man look at that number 6!

06./00. [PSP] Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny (Namco Bandai) - 29,000 / NEW

If PSP can get a crapy port of Soul Calibur 3 why can't the Wii?

Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny (correct spelling) is not a port of Soulcalibur III, it's a brand new entry in the Soulcalibur series.

Then how's this, TJ?

Man look at that number 6!

06./00. [PSP] Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny (Namco Bandai) - 29,000 / NEW

If PSP can get a brand new Soul Calibur game, why can't the Wii? Just use the Soul Calibur 2 Gamecube engine and add new characters and weapons.

Also, not many copies of King's Story were shipped, did they not expect it to sell well? Makes me wonder how well (poorly) it is doing in North America.

Yeah. Nintendo is releasing it for both of the HD systems & PSP. It's only for the the development kits though.

Are they not essentially the same game though? Just because they switch a few of the pokemon around and change the color of the cart, doesn't really make it a different game. I say lump them together.
That doesn't matter. They were released as separate games and therefore should be tracked separately because the sales will be inflated by those who buy both. Do you think the sales of all of the re-releases of Super Mario Brothers should be counted as one? They're the same game too.

Should Collector's editions should be counted separate as well?  Sometimes they have extra content not in the regular version.  And some people do buy both!

What I find odd is that they will lump Pokemon games together, but they will track "The Best" versions of games (like Monster Hunter Portable 2 G (BEST)) as separate games. The "Best" lineup is basically just the Japanese version of the Greatest Hits program. So it's the exact same game re-released at a lower price. So Monster Hunter Portable 2 G has sold more than 925K copies, that is just how many the budget re-release has sold.

If you want it changed, go call Media Create and tell them to change it.  They are the ones lumping the titles together I believe. I think Famitsu may track them separately though.

It is a good point though as they track Sapphire separately and I believe there really isn't much different with that one either.

Actually they are released as different versions of the SAME game, and thats why there is nothing wrong with tracking them together. But like Louieturkey said, MC tracks them together and Famitsu tracks them separately.
SalesBot provides both of MC & Famitsu, so there really shouldn't be an issue.

For example; Nintendogs. There is only one Nintendogs. You don't have to buy all 3 version to get all the dogs. It's just like Pokemon (you don't have to buy them all) where it's meant to promote connectivity between people that have different version of the SAME game, so that you can access all the content. If someone buys all the version, then all that means is they are either a fanatic or don't have any friends.

It would be like counting the sales of the individual skus for Xbox360 or PS3 separately because they have different colors, sizes or prices. It is the exact same system with different version.

There is a difference between Pokemon and Nintendogs. It is possible to get every dog in just 1 Nintendogs game. It is NOT possible to get every Pokemon with just 1 version of the game. Some are exclusive to each version and you need to trade to get them. There are also other small differences. They should NOT be tracked together as they are similar but different.
