When that happens it will be a historic moment in the history of Nintendo, because it will mark the very first time that a Nintendo console sold more than the Nintendo console before it, and would reverse Nintendo's diminishing marketshare.

I still bitterly remember predictions by video game analysts before the Wii was released that it would sell even less than the Gamecube over its lifetime, but they are obviously wrong and I seriously hope they've lost their jobs over it. Seriously, even though it hadn't been released, how could they not expect the Wii to do well with all the buzz about it since it was unveiled at E3?

OR Blast Processing.  No wonder the last mainline installment of the Sonic series skipped the Wii.  It just can't handle the speed!

Why would the "News Channel" be "sold" in the retail stores?
And why would Japan just now be getting the News Channel?

Probably shortage. Or a sale on the second hand version.

The bigger shame in the Galaxy floppage saga is Mario & Sonic Wii falling down due to the DS version which replaces frantic exciting involving gameplay with button mashing / slashing.

Apparently News Channel is "0 yen" so that's probably just people who picked up the retail disc. But that begs the question, why get the news channel as a disc if you already need the internet to utilize it? Sounds like mere curiosity to me.

Look, PSP actually has some games in the chart. How cute.

Imagine if Monster Hunters had been available for the DS instead of the PSP. Instead of 1.5 million in sales, it might be 3 million - or higher.

I'm not 100% sure, but I believe it is a WiiBoard game, but I think they released it too soon.
There is too much going on with WiiFit to really purchase another game that uses the WiiBoard already.

It's a Namco/Bandai game.  It can be used with the balance board but it was originally made for the wiimote.  The balance board controls were a last minute addition that they decided to add.  I've heard the game is decent.

I've actually heard that a second shipment is already coming in, so maybe there's a chance it won't experience heavy shortages?

There was supposed to be another shipment in Japan today, so I would expect it to hit about 800k in the 1st week, and 1 mill+ by end of week 2.

That was a cool video.  So since the big drop from 1996 to 1997, Nintendo has continually gained marketshare in Japan except for 2 minimal drop offs in 2002 and 2004 and now in 2007 have over 70% of the market and with the Wii continuing to gain traction and the DS still showing no signs of slowing, they may have even more in 2008.  Crazy.
