this game looks bad.

I like how the passenger characters start out pushing the karts.     Luigi balancing the three mushrooms was funny as well.  The 'Donkey Kong Mountain' track looked like it will be so much fun.  I liked the steep inclines and all the dust clouds the karts were kicking up into the air.

I want this game now!

So on CNN they just had even more footage of Mario Kart, and this batch was even better!  One of the cooler things about it was  MILD SPOILER WARNING that Baby Mario picked up a powerup that could be aimed that sent a huge Chain Chomp across the track to chew on everybody.  Funny stuff.

Probably be some links to the movie up here pretty soon.

That chain chomp was a track feature not a weapon.

The chain chomp in the footage was DEFINITELY a weapon used by Baby Mario...Have you seen the new footage?

lol, I just noticed some pretty funny.  At the very beginning of the footage with the karts heading down a bridge, you can see Yoshi using his tongue to knock Mario and, I believe, Luigi off the course

Wow thanks for the link Bill!  The footage looks beautiful.  We finally see some characters switching in the drivers seat.  You can see Baby Mario and Baby Luigi switch just before Baby Mario releases Chomp-chomp. The switching happens virtually instantaneous. Very nice Nintendo!

Yeah, the cataquack.

The level of detail on each character is amazing, considering that there's 16+ different characters on screen at any given time, all animating differently yet amazingly smoothly.  Looks like you can still fall off the track, though (2nd movie, yoshi tongue-attacks mario/luigi); hopefully it doesn't make you automatically lose a race like it did in the previous 2 mario kart games (automatically lose by giving you a huge delay time with no realistic way of making up the time).

I still managed to win if I fell off. . . I didn't do it often, though.

That looks absolutely awesome.  The levels look very promising, and that chain chomp. . . whoo. . .

IGN has a pic of the Mario Kart Double Dash booth, with chairs to sit in and what looks to be some nice Panasonic TV's for each GameCube.. but what really got my attention was the fact that there are eight TVs and GameCubes.. do you think that this game may have system link capabilities for up to eight Cubes?

[edit] i just ask this because i was never sure as to what the LAN features will be, for i thought it would just allow two TVs and two gamecubes with 4 players on each...
I'll shut up now...

They have so many TVs so more people can play it at once ;D

I believe it's been announced officially that it's 8 players, so just 2 cubes and 2 tv's.

What I'm interested in is why are so many of those TV's widescreen?  Does MKDD support widescreen play?  That would rock

I imagine it will be like Mario 64 in the sense that there will be eight racers in every competition.  Thus, you could logically only play with 8 players.  An eight player battle mode would be cool, though. . . hope they have battle in this. . .

I know that it is 8 players, but why not 8 gamecubes, and 8 TVs?!  That would be really awsome.  No way would I ever find  8 people around here with gamecubes, and BBAs and extra TVs, but the OPTION to do so would be cool.  Plus I could see arcades setting up rooms were people could play.  Shoot 8 GCs, and 8 TVs would still be cheaper than a few Arcade cabnits.  And I bet they would make a killing.

I think it may be reasonible to do eight gamecube as long as no more than eight players are one the game.. (But that would be somewhat tricky to connect.

I'm just wondering if GameSpy will have the LAN boaring (I think thats what they call it.) software ready by time this title comes out.
Stupidity is lost on my. Then again I'm almost always lost.

I just read on another forum that the 8 gamecubes are connected. So it isn't limited to 2 gamecubes.

I doubt that's accurate.  It's a possibility, but an outlandish one.  You do realize that that's 32 people playing, don't you?

I just read the same thing being reported at CGA. They are reporting that it supports up to 8 cubes. That mean 32 people? I didn't think Nintendo had that many characters to put into the game. Also I read at IGN that the same character can't be used more than once which makes it all the more interesting.

Anyone hear/see anything about Sega's Aiai (from Super Monkey Ball) being in MKDD? I read somewhere else that he was seen in the game. Playable racer? What?

http://www.gamerfeed.com/index.php?story=3194

And I hope there is 8 GC's hookup LAN ability. No way does this mean 32 players, it just means each of the 8 players can have their own, full-screen to play on. Plus this way if GameSpy would take it online, it *might* be fun (if just 2 GC's ability, 1-on-1 online racing wouldn't be much fun).
