TalkBack / RE: Next-Gen Talks Next-Gen With Kaplan
« on: February 25, 2006, 07:24:32 AM »
I can't wait for this console! I've played 360, and while the graphics are great, the game play is more of the same. I'm hoping to experience some unique stuff with the rev's controller. I can't imagine playing a next gen zelda w/ it- sword fighting and fishing are what come to mind first, but there are many other possibilities that I'm sure they'll think of.

I think it's critical that Nintendo releases this holiday season- possibly around Thanksgiving with a cheaper price (I'm betting $199- possibly w/ a game). This will generate enough buzz about the console for parents that they won't think twice about picking one up. And with the weird controller hardcores will want to try it out.

So I'm guessing this- launch around Thanksgiving, $199 price w/ new Mario game, they'll also have Metroid Prime 3 (or other mature title) ready for launch for the hardcores w/ wifi connection.

Here's to hoping! I can't wait!

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Nintendo DS Online?
« on: November 23, 2004, 04:35:43 AM »
Well- the main problem is that picto chat doesn't support chat over the internet (only on the local LAN created by the DS's). I haven't been able to test out if my DS is trying to connect to my basestation- I can't remember the name of the software that allows me to see who's connected/try to connect to my basestation.

Yeah- I can't wait until someone makes software like warp pipe for the DS. This is what I think Nintendo is working on with the "Demasked" or whatever its called. Some sort of tunneling software for planing LAN games over the internet.

Picked mine up this afternoon. Got Mario 64 DS with it too. The mini games are freakin' great! I can't wait for Warioware- its going to be sooo cool with the touch screen- do anyone know if it uses the mic too?

I'm going to a "Spartasoft" meeting tonight (game developer club on campus). Hope someone else has a DS there so we can play some wireless!

Waaahooo- the graphics are much better in person than in the video's that are posted on-line!

Nintendo Gaming / RE: ive pladed DS

Played the DS at Best Buy today. I came away impressed. I played around with Metroid and the graphics are better than in screen shots. I can't wait to play Mario on this thing! Just don't get too hyped up about it our you'll be disappointed. Its a good little system, and fun to play, but its not going to blow everything out of the water. I'm looking forward to some different gameplay other than the standard run of the mill stuff the PSP is going to have.

Also plaid Prime 2- kicks total ass!!!!!! I can't wait for this!!!!!!!! AHHHHHHHH!

Nintendo Gaming / RE: pre-ordering ds and new zelda (gba)
« on: October 19, 2004, 07:05:12 AM »
Pre-ordered mine a few weeks back- I think I put like $25 down on the DS and $9 on Metroid Prime 2...they wouldn't let me pre-order Mario 64 DS yet. I'll put the money down on that when I go pick up Metroid.

November is going to be expensive...

Yeah- I have a 15" Samsung TFT TV with component inputs. Right now I'm just using the AV cables, but if I got the component cables how big of a difference does it make?

Will it stop some of the edges/colors from bleeding?

Just got done watching the new videos over at IGN- OMG I can't wait for this game! THe graphics & game play look amazing! Hopefully the controls aren't too hard to get used to- I've played the remake of the first one on game cube and didn't think it was too bad- so hopefully 4 will be an improvement.

AHHHHH! I'm excited for this game (although I have only MP2 and a DS on pre-order)! I think I'll see if they're accepting pre-orders for it when I go pick up my DS...

Nintendo Gaming / Component Video Cable...
« on: October 09, 2004, 06:37:05 AM »
I just got a nice little samsung LCDTV for my dorm room and I'm looking to hook my gamecube up using the component video cable...

A few questions

1. Where's the best place to get one? Cheapest?

2. Will all games output through the cable even if they don't support progressive scan- or will I have to leave the RCA cables hooked up too?

3. Will this look any better than an s-video cable on the LCD? It supports resolutions up to 1024 x 768...

I interested in Prince of Persa and Metal Arms- any other good ones?

Nintendo Gaming / What platformer should I get?
« on: December 02, 2003, 09:45:01 AM »
Well- I've enjoyed F-Zero and SCII its time for a change of pace.

I want to play a platformer.

I've been checking out a few that interest me. Please help me choose. I don't mind a bit of a challenge- but not like Mega Man: Network Transmission.

1. Prince of Persa (sp?)
2. Metal Arms

I don't care how old it is or anything (as long as its for GC). I've already played through Mario Sunshine.

What does everyone recommend?

« on: August 29, 2003, 06:02:21 PM »
I traded in all of my older games to pick up these 2 titles today.

F-Zero is one of the best games I've ever played! Its soooooo fast and clean!

Soul Calibur is great too- the best 3D fighter I've ever played!

it was kinda cool- I like the in air combat better than the ground combat- story line is semi-good too.

Reader Reviews / My mini Enter the Matrix review
« on: May 18, 2003, 11:52:57 AM »
For those of you who haven't seen the movie- go now!

I was planning on buying the game on May 15th, but after reading IGN's impressions and a few others that were saying its not that great I decided to hold off- and save my money to import Mario 4 for GBA...

Anyway, I recieved a "Rent one game get a game free" ticket from blockbuster when I saw the movie. So I rented "Enter the Matrix" and "Robotech Battlecry or whatever".

I must say for being a huge Matrix fan the game isn't that bad. Yes- the game play could be a lot deeper and more polished overall, but I think this game is decent- it would seem to have been a lot better if not for all of the hype.

I am very impressed by the voice acting (some of the best ever) and the real cut scenes are great! It really makes you feel you are playing a movie- and it should- I hear that they filmed almost 1/2 of another movie just for the game!

The graphics are not great but decent- the levels are huge and the character models are very good. For using motion capture they're movements do not look smooth at all. Running up ladders is very jerky. They could have made the graphics much better if it wasn't released for the PS2...

I am just up to the point in the game where the movie starts and I haven't gotten into the hacking aspect of it all yet- I hear this is cool because you can put weapons in areas and stuff.

So overall I'm not that dissapointed by the game- but I am glad that I didn't buy it and saved my money for a mario title.

Graphics: 7 out of 10
Cut Scenes/Voice Acting: 9 out of 10
Game Play: 7 out of 10
Control: 6 out of 10
Sound: 8 out of 10

Overall verdict: Soild Rental

« on: May 17, 2003, 03:05:32 PM »
Alright- its almost time! I hear the demo disk is coming out on the 19th- is that true?

I live in a rural area- no gamestops or EB games around these parts...where can I get it and how much will I pay?

Also- what exactly is on the disk?

thanks everyone!

If you are at the part where I think you are you have to run back into the room with the fireplace in it. Then kill it.

Nintendo Gaming / Mario Tennis GCN
« on: February 26, 2003, 07:10:56 AM »
What if Nintendo came out with something like "Mario Sports" that included mario tensis and mario golf and maybe some other new mario sports titles?

It could be be their first on-line title and have tons of stats and options much like smash brothers.

Mario Basketball
Mario Baseball
Mario Pool
Mario Hockey
Mario Whatever
