Vroenis, you might want to pass on PN03. The Japanese gave it a lukewarm response, and Game Informer (Unreliable but they have a review nonetheless) gave it a 6 at best. I'd just as soon wait for Viewtiful Joe but its your money...

I was lucky to get F-Zero today (or yesterday?) I walked in to Gamestop, and had a handful left. Simply put...this ain't Mario Kart. Prepare to learn some technique, and don't comfy when the you take the lead. One full second is the difference between 1st and 12th place.

As far as AX, it seems September will the month it graces arcades. Now all you need is to find those arcades

The card you're talking about is probably the liscense card you get when you first play AX. Its like a memory card so you can get the unlockables in the arcade. I'm just worried its gonna cost a dollar a pop, and if GX is any indication...I better start saving a stash when it comes out!

Actually, I believe you only need to have one license card, but I'm not sure. From what it seems, the card's info can be changed, and you also get to use the memory card to transfer stuff....man, this game is fun! Just beat Chapter 2 on story mode (man, that was tricky!).

I didnt see a license card for the arcades or whatever in my game, is it hidden somewhere? I didnt pre-order this game, but lukilly my gamestop had some extra copies yesterday. What can I say about this game? It is sooo fast and the graphics are great. I beat the first cup on novice the first time I played and got all the way to Mute City (Serial Gaps) before I got completely owned. I must have practiced that track like 20 times before I completed it, with all the jumps. Some of the levels have no guard rails.

The best part is that you get to take out you opponents and it even shows the total number of racers (30) go down as vehicles are destroyed.

You cant even blink or you will crash everything is going so fast, and the 360 z-turn looks so cool, although it is awkward to do for me 'cause of the placement of the z button.

The worst part about this game is that it has ruined me for any other racing games (not counting mario kart of course).

I have to say my favorite level so far is Fire Field, even though I still can't pass the sapphire cup, I play FF on time attack a lot. I have some questions though, are there any hidden levels that can be unlocked, or are those 15 it? Second, I read in the manual that you get tickets for completing chapters in story mode, cup races, and time attacks. However, I can never seem to get anything for setting records in time attack...anyone know if you really can earn tickets in that mode?

After you beat the three cups on normal you unlock the diamond cup, and then after you beat all 4 cups on master you get the AX cup. There are also AX parts and pilots to unlock, but you have to beat the story mode on hard. You get 20 tickets for beating a cup on normal difficulty, and that is do-able after some practice.

Whoa, this game could take some time, just played it for a couple of hours but found the easy level to be a decent challenge.  Beat the ruby cup fairly easy, beat the samuri gomorah ambush after more than a couple of tries, getting rocked in the tube level on the second cup after ruby.  The game is crazy fun though, with a capital 'K'.  Crazy fast, crazy cool, crazy crazy.   I might actually need to read the instructions for this game, because there is so much going on in it.

I was just curious. How much single player value does F-Zero have? Not many of my friends play Gamecube, so I'm often playing single player games. F-Zero looks great, but I'm not sure if it will be too lastly if I play alone. Secondly, my little brother likes to play my GC games too, and now I need to know if F-Zero is a simple game to learn. Is it a "Pick it up and play" game or a  "Pick up, read, and play game." I really need to know because it becomes buggersome when your little borther keeps asking you how to do that and that. I do not care about hot difficult the game is; my little brother can always practice.

Single player is very fun. 2-player is fun, I personally dont like 3-4 players 'cause the screens are too small on my 20 in tv.

The game is very difficult to master, but very easy to play. I had been playing for a few hours and my younger brother (14) came in and wanted to play. I told him A to go, L and R to lean, Y to use turbo and he started out and only lost to me by a few seconds. The game is difficult but the controlls are easy to lean. and the harder moves (drift turns, z-turns, x-hitting etc.) are not necessary to play the game on novice difficulty. As you advance in difficulty you will be held back if you cant master the controls, but the bottom line is the game is soooo fun and soooo fast.

I beat the first two cups on novice and normal, and the thrid cup on novice so far. I'm getting better at knocking the competition out of the race with x/z hitting. Just go for the "Rival" car (the one first in overall points, or second if you are in first) and take him out so he get 0 points for the race.

The half-pipe track on emerald cup is killer. You bounce around everywhere and easilly go flying off the track.

On story mode I am on the third track. This one is tough. You have to be super fast and stay on the track. I have finished 8th in the race, but you have to get first.

This game is very, very good.

The racing is fantastic.  The courses are fun, fast, and well designed.  I haven't played multiplayer yet, but I will tomorrow.  Grand prix is challenging (though I've only played novice; got 1st on all but one, which I got 8th on) and cool, and the customizable ships are a great addition.  The characters are corny, but still are interesting and have good bios.  The graphics are simply amazing. . . sometimes in practice mode I'll drive off the track just because I'm looking at the background, and I am NOT exaggerating.  Seriously, this happened several times.
The music is superb, and the sound effects, though few, are pretty good, too.  I agree with DRJ on the control scheme, easy to get but difficult to master.  I've only used the attacks once or twice, but the results were quite satisfying (they flew all over the track and were put far behind the race).  I haven't tried several modes, like story, but they sure as heck seem promising.

Gotta go for now.  Will tell about the multiplayer, though, later.

When I said earlier that the game was hard, I lied. The game is relatively easy. By relatively easy, I mean that the first three cups are very easy compared to the diamond cup. As hard as the first three cups are they are nothing compared to this one. Crazy blind jumps, roads splitting off and criss-crossing like mad, and Nintendo/Sega must have forgotten to put guard rails in on this cup. Seriously they are very hard. I actually won on novice, but didnt finish first on any track. I just stuck to my strategy of knocking out as many other cars as I can. I cant wait to try the AX cups, but you have to beat all the tracks on master (you have to beat them all on expert to unlock master). This is going to take a while.

Also I found it much easier since I changed the controller set up. I put the brake on Z since I never use the brake. I put the attack to B and Spin to X.

So far I like to use Octoman the best, until I can figure out my own custome ship to make.

The only things I dont like about the game are the interviews at the end of the cups, they are just lame, and that you have to pay to unlock the story mode levels after you beat them. Paying to unlock the cars and parts is fine, but the story mode is too much. Ofcourse these are just nitpicky things that do not effect the overall splended greatness of this game.

My way: Allow your rival to get ahead and just drive without using any boosts.  When you get to the last left-handed turn, your rival will begin to swerve alot to avoid the rocks, this is where you make your move.  Use one or two boosts to pass him up then finish off the race with the rest of them.

It worked for me and my friend on our third and first tries, respectively (I did it first).

I think you can barely make the 2nd story event if you go top speed the whole way, hug the curves really tight and use all your boosts without crashing into any rocks.

I got two questions:

1. Can you get a speed boost at the beginning of a race? (pressing gas at the right time)

2. Is Nintendo/Sega gonna release a game soundtrack?

Thanks.

I'm using a custom ship and Leon, though the good old Captain is my alternate.  The cusomizing features in this game are very cool.  I played multiplayer (2, more later) and it's fun.  I tried novice on the Sapphire? Cup.  The one in the middle.  I did fine (all but one first places) until the last stage.  Then I don't even think I got to the second lap.  I'm gonna have to practice that one.

I did it in 58 seconds and something. I can qoute someone else's way of passing the hard mode of Chap.1:

"Chap. 1 - Hard mode

LAP 1
- At the start, get the capsule in the middle and the capsule on the left
- Hit the zipper, get the capsule on the right, turn left to hit the next zipper and get the capsule on the left (this one is harder to get on your 2nd and 3rd laps)
- Hit the next zipper, then collect all the capsules to the left of the recharge strip and be sure to get the zipper
- Collect all the capsules on the left and hit all the zippers EXCEPT for the one with the capsule directly to the left of it, go for the capsule instead (this is probably not the most efficient way to beat it, but if you can nab this one it makes the next part a bit easier on the 2nd and 3rd laps)
- Of the three capsules that come next, get the middle one and hold left so you can get the capsule after that on the left
- Hit the zipper, get the capsule on the right, and hold left to collect the middle two capsules in the next group of 4
- You should now have 17 capsules

LAP 2
- Boost as soon as you start the lap, and then again when it wears off
- Collect the capsule on the right that you left from the last lap
- Get the capsule in the middle, then hit the zipper and get the capsule on the right. The left capsule before the boost should still be there.
- Boost before you get to the next zipper
- Collect all the capsules on the right of the recharge strip up until the zipper, then take the zipper and skip the last capsule so you can recharge a bit. Boost whenever you're not being zipped.
- Hit all the zippers, keep boosting, and collect all the capsules you can

After this point you can just play it by ear. If you miss one capsule out of a group of three, then you might as well start over since you won't be able to collect them all in time. If you hit the wall or miss a zipper on the first lap, that's also usually a good reason to restart. I found that if I had more than 17 at the beginning of the third lap and 10 seconds by the time I hit the first recharge strip, I could finish in time." - Quote from some guy from the gamefaqs forum.

You can use this method if you want but the best way is to figure it out by yourself just like I did. I was failing everytime only because I always took around 1 minute 1 second. Then I had the ideia of changing the settings of the car to achieve a higher max speed instead of a higher acceleration(like I had it on captain's car). And it did it for me, just a few more tries and 25 tickets were mine. But beware the Very Hard mode is even tougher but only because a player has to make a more complex strategy in catching alot more of the pills(I'm not sure but I think it's 50 pills in 60 seconds).

James McCloud isn't dead!  He just had some plastic surgery! Hehe...

But seriously, I love how fast this game is, and I love the new look of Big Blue.

Any advice on how to get the 35 pills in 60 seconds in the first chapter in story mode on very hard mode?

How about very hard mode on chapter 8 and 9?  I already beat hard on 8 and 9.

Get FZero for sure. If you really need a football game pick up Madden 2003 for like $10. Madden 2004 doesnt add that much over the previous year, and you can always pick it up next year for cheap when Madden 2005 comes out.

Its hard to beat and unlock everything, but easy to play. The races get very easy once you learn the tracks and learn how to kill your opponents.

Can anyone explain to me what the AX cups are? I've read stuff about them, but I don't understand what they are. Just tell me you don't need a gBA or any other periphel to unlock them.

God, I can't beat story mode at all.  I can't complete level 1 on hard, and I can't beat level 2 at all.

But the game is still fun.  And it's a hard that makes you want to keep trying, because each time you get that much closer.  I CAN DO IT NEXT TIME.

Goodness this game is fun.

My favorite thing to do is set infinite laps in practice mode and see how long it takes me to destroy all 29 competitors...Took me 7 or 8 laps, I believe, for my best

That sounds like fun!  Except that I am really bad at attacking, and I usually end up missing the competitor, bouncing a few times off walls, and either whirling off the course or instantly dropping to last place. :\

I always thought the characters were created with humour in mind. A bounty hunter, a bounty hunter's dark nemisis, a mad scientist, a dinosaur, and a former racing master brought back from the dead who race in an intergalactic grand prix? That sounds like something from the 80's Transformers movies! It's full of imagiation though, and I must say the part that interested me the most about this game was the story mode. It just seems like we've been given such a minute ammount of information about a vast universe, I can't help but look foward to that...

Can anyone answer my question about the AX Cups/cars?

And Story mode was pretty simple, I'm trying to unlock master cup now, but can't beat the last cup on expert, argh!!!!

BTW, what's your favorite level so far?

Didn't read your question, but I have a good idea of what you want...

AX Cup - Beat all cups on Master...yeah, good luck
AX Racers - Beat a Story Mode chapter on Very Hard to unlock a character...Every chapter unlocks a new one...Again, this took forever for me to do...

Oh, my fav track?  Big Blue - Ordeal...A very well-designed track that is perfectly suited for my Destruction Derby ^_^

Agreed.  Do you have the ninth story mode part yet?  I just watched the intro not long ago. . . very corny. . . intend to beat it soon, but I need to finish the last cup on normal and expert first.  I have not been playing it enough of late.

The 9th chapter is very annoying, an entire track with no railings, so you pretty much have to memorize the track. Although the ghost is fairly simple, the main problem is staying on the tracks. Once you figure that out, it is an easy victory.

Edit: Curious, why is it called an AX Cup?

MINKA would say," Whooo iz numba wan!!!??"
