TalkBack / RE: Resident Evil to Nintendo DS!
« on: August 25, 2005, 12:02:40 PM »
After playing Resident Evil 4, I don't think I could go back to the...uh..."quirky" control scheme of past Resident Evils.  Think this game might have better play control?  Free roaming=good.  "Gas" button=bad.

I can't help but wonder if this Raven game will feature the plucky bully humiliating unpopular kids in public, just like the last one did.

I was really excited about this until I realized that there are only five civilizations, and my favorites have been excluded.  No Byzantines?  No Persian War Elephants?  No cilted Kelts, er, kilted Celts?

Nevertheless, I've always hoped that we'd start seeing strategy games like this on the DS.  With the touch screen an' all, I think the DS lends itself comfortably to the genera.

TalkBack / RE: Kingdom Hearts Sells One Million on GBA

To be honest, I've never liked the whole idea behind Kingdom Hearts.  I dunno...classic Disney animation is almost sacrasanct to me; it feels like Walt's creations are being pimped without his say-so.  Then again, Disneyco hasn't had integrity for years, so who cares?

DS games are almost impossible to acquire...at least, for right now.

It's like Hasbro versus Gepetto.

Halo is the N64 Goldeneye of this generation.  Quality work, but hardly iconic.  The fact that it's included with the likes of Mario and Sonic is embarrassing, and illustrates how jaded and flippant gamers, as a whole, are.  Final Fantasy, Metal Gear, or Castlevania/Simon Belmont would have been far superior choices.

TalkBack / RE: Nintendo Outlines Thier Holiday Lineup

Wow, look at all of the games with Mario in the title in the Gamecube stable.  If you're going to rely on a single character to feature in most of your games, it might as well be Mario, says I.

I'm not really a big fan of this kind of advertising.

Favorite Nintendo commercial ever: the ad for Mario and Luigi.  Funny, clever, and not offensive to anyone.  Second favorite Nintendo commercial: the original Legend of Zelda ad.  "Wikky wikky wig!"

Considering how old that show is, they've aged rather naturally.

TalkBack / RE: Aladdin Arrives on GBA
« on: September 28, 2004, 07:16:04 PM »
Being a fanboy from way back, I remember being really jealous of the Genesis Aladdin.  It wasn't until Earthworm Jim was released on the SNES that I was able to play a video game with such amazing animation.  I'd love to see the Genesis Aladdin released again.

Will would be a lot funnier if he didn't play the same character in every single movie.

I used Game Genie way back in the days of Pokemon Red and Blue, but not to level up Pokemon.  I cheated to procure Mew.  Thinking back, I'd probably do it again, too.

TalkBack / RE: Pokemon Good for Kids?
« on: September 07, 2004, 10:19:24 AM »
I'm at least 5% less estranged and misanthropic than I was before I discovered Pokemon.  I never would have guessed that the cold chuckles I emit while watching a Clefable slowly "faint" from my Gengar's Toxic attack were products of positive reinforcement.

TalkBack / RE:Midway Announces Mortal Kombat: Deception for GC
« on: August 28, 2004, 01:55:49 PM »
Actually, I had assumed that the next Mortal Kombat game was going to be completely excluded from the Gamecube line-up, so I'm kinda happy to hear this announcement.  I was a big fan of Deadly Alliance, and was disheartened when I heard that the next sequel was going to snub Nintendo completely.  It's good to know that Midway hasn't COMPLETELY turned its back on Nintendo.

TalkBack / RE:New Duel Masters Game Coming this Fall

This seems like a good time to relay a humorous story...

Once, a friend and I were in our local Super Wal-Mart, searching near the front of the store for Magic cards.  When we located their card stash, we discovered that all they had left were Yu-Gi-Oh cards.  Disgusted, my friend responded with, "D@mmit, I'm sick of this Yoshi crap!"

Since then, I lovingly refer to Yugi and company as "that Yoshi crap".  Anywhoo, I would do a very happy dance if Magic ever appeared on a Nintendo platform...none of that "Battlemage" crap though, I want card-tappin' and timing issues.

TalkBack / RE:From Terminator to Scary Blood Rayne Chick
« on: August 04, 2004, 02:30:21 PM »
I'm kind of upset that anyone would actually care enough about Bloodrayne to make a movie about it.  I mean, the title character is a sub-machine gun-toting, karate-wielding supermodel vampiress that kills Nazis.  They should just drop the other shoe and make her a cyborg elf ninja that works for the mafia, too.

I'm thinking that this will be the best compilation since Super Mario All-Stars, a game that's kept my SNES sitting next to the TV for many a year now.

If Kickle Cubicle were to respawn on the GBA, I'd be a very happy fellow.
