Reader Reviews / Request: Sonic Mega Collection
« on: July 29, 2003, 06:40:24 AM »
I was thinking of getting this game for my little brother for his birthday.  He's about the same age as when I got into Sonic, and we only own two games (Sonic 2 and Sonic and Knuckles) and i thought it would be a great way to bring him into gaming.  We got him a baseball game last year (Home Run King) and it was too hard for him and rather, how do you say, not very good.  Sonic seems perfect.

What do you guys think of it?

General Chat / Metroid Movie
« on: July 15, 2003, 11:45:55 AM »
I wasn't exactly sure which section to post this in, so I stuck it here.

Anyway, I was reading the thread on the Zelda movie (in the Zelda section, duh), and, from what I read, the movie is mostly speculation.

But the Metroid movie is not speculation, and I'm sure that alot of people, me among them, are very interested to see how it turns out.

Has there been any news about the movie lately?  Was it cancelled? (I haven't heard anything about it in a while).Live action, or computer animated?

General Chat / Need help, not urgent, not really important
« on: July 08, 2003, 06:14:42 AM »
Okay, I finally recieved a computer for my room.  It's a crappy piece of crap, but at least I got one.  So, was all set to go out and buy The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind when I thought "Well, this computer's crappy, let's see if this piece of crap can handle the game"

So I got the system requiremets off amazon.com and i go to check my piece of crap and....I don't know how.

This is what I need...
Windows 98/Me/2000/XP (Windows 2000 users must have Service Pack 2 installed.)
500mhz Intel Pentium III, Celeron, or AMD Athlon processor (800mhz recommended)
128MB RAM for Windows Me/98, 256MB RAM for Windows XP/2000
8x CD/DVD-ROM Drive
1 GB free hard disk space
32MB Direct3D Compatible Video card and DirectX 8.1 compatible driver
DirectX 8.1 Compatible Sound Card
Windows compatible Keyboard and Mouse

...and all I know is that I have Windows Me, half as much RAM as needed (we'll ignore that for now) and I have a keybord and a mouse.

Can anybody please tell me where on my computer (not any manuals) I can find this info?  I've looked everywhere.

EDIT: If this was at all confusing, I meant is there a place in the control panel or somewhere where I can access this info for my computer.

NWR Feedback / official "great game deals"thread
« on: June 30, 2003, 06:55:31 AM »
I was wondering if in {enter any other appropriate place here}  we could have an official thread where people can post great deals they find on games or systems becasue I have found existing threads on this topic very useful. If I'm the only one that actually appreciates these threads, then making one would be useless.  But if alot of other people like them, I think an official "Great Deals" thread would be a great idea.

General Chat / capture cards
« on: June 17, 2003, 02:16:20 PM »
anyone know of a good one at a reasonable price?  if you don't know, capture cards let you take anolog video (on a tape) and transfer it into your computer.  this for people without a digital camera and who want to make movies.  there are some that come with editing software, tv tuner, and all this other crap (good crap), but if any of you guys have one, tell me how well it works or list some reliable brand names and whatnot.

NWR Feedback / not being able to post
« on: June 03, 2003, 10:43:04 AM »
so i go to post on some thread in general chat, and it says that whole "page cannot be displayed, please refresh" thing.  it does this three times, and the fourth time it says something like "error:  code must have variable in it" (that ;ast page was a PGC one, it had the purple and stuff).  the fifth time i was able to post.  it's not a big problem, and it only happened once, i'm just curious to what exactly happened.

General Gaming / RF cables
« on: May 28, 2003, 02:23:56 PM »
i know that the all nintendo RF cables are the same, and they work with every nintendo system, so i know the power of the system isn't really an issue.  but i was wondering if i could use an RF cable for my gamecube that's not by nintendo.  could i, or would it ruin the system?  i hate taking risks, so please be 100% positive that any old RF cable would do.  i'm sure trying it wouldn't hurt the system, it just wouldn't come out on my tv, but still, i hate taking any risk whatsoever.  thanks in advance!

« on: May 20, 2003, 02:24:24 PM »
forgive me if i KnowNothing, but i thought i heard GTA and Vice city were coming to the cube in like a couple of years, when they're old and not as good, and GTA 4 or 5 is out.  is this true?  i've never played any GTA game so i'd buy it either way.

Nintendo Gaming / more pokemon glithches
« on: May 10, 2003, 08:51:23 AM »
i have only red version.  so i was trying to get mew, right, and i made a mistake and accidently flew to cledon.  i fought a guy in the casino place so i could use start agin and i used the under ground tunnel to go back to the gambler.  well, when i got there, the start menu popped up.  i didn't save a nd i stepped back into the house where the underground tunnel is and a wild, level 7 pinsir showed up.  so, doing the gambler trick triggers wild rare pokemon encounters.  is pinsir supposed to only be in blue?  if it is, then one might not need both copies to complete his or her collection.

Nintendo Gaming / i changed my mind... i think
« on: May 05, 2003, 10:58:31 AM »
okay, i know i've said alot about keeping my original GBA.  that was then, this is now.  i've finally played the GBASP in the dark.  i'm getting one.  i figured i'd go to gamestop or something and pick up that and pokemon ruby.  that's, including tax, $140.07.  for me, alot.  i figured i'd sell my GBA and GBC on ebay for (GBA) $40, and (GBC) $25 (i've seen new ones go for 40 so i'm not sure what will happen)  but they could go for less.  i'm just worried i'll get less on ebay then expected and have a huge hole in my pocket.  i need someone to tell me what they'd do.  to back me up, or call me an idiot, either way i'm fine.

General Gaming / EB trade ins
« on: May 04, 2003, 04:20:34 AM »
i want a GBASP.  but apparently EB's great offer ended and a GBA trade in is only $25.  so i was wondering if i could sell some other Game Boys to make up for it.  could anybody tell me how much a GBC is going for.  i thought it was $15, which would exactly make up for the missed offer.

« on: May 02, 2003, 09:31:48 AM »

« on: April 29, 2003, 12:18:35 PM »
NEVER DOWNLOAD THIS!!!!! it totally screwed up my old computer.  it logged on to the internet automaticlly (no phones then, now i have broadband), and never went away.  it loaded itself onto almost every program on the computer so it was near impossible to get rid of.  it was one of the reasons we got a new computer.  now my mom is paranoid about downloading from the net.  anyone else get Bonzi BUddy?  i'd like to hear oter way this legal virus messed up your computer.

Nintendo Gaming / Gamecube DVD
« on: April 22, 2003, 10:56:17 AM »
Umm... Can Nintendo make DVD's just for the Gamecube?  I mean, they can include DVD features and recordings of actually people in their games.  I'm thinking of the "Making of"" Section in SSX Tricky (probably not the best example).  Couldn't they just skip the game and make movies?  It would probably be a huge failure, and lose Nintendo a ton of money, seeing as alot of people own regular DVD players.  Just dreamin'...
