I still can't believe Wii Play is STILL in the top 10 best-selling Wii games...
And why would that be? It is packaged with a Wiimote so a lot of people view it as a deal, sometimes stores sell out of the stand-alone Wiimote and it is the only choice, and other times it is on sale for the same price as a Wiimote. It makes sense to me it would continue to sell so well.

Especially with nearly every sales clerk being trained to recommend it to new users. I swear anytime I buy Wii stuff they try to get me to buy one. I've also watched clerks at nearly every store I've been at recommending it to people who are considering a Wii.

I recommend it to anyone buying a Wii. Its one more piece of entertaining software that comes with an extra controller for multi-player fun

The tank game is amazing. I want an expanded, 4-player version on WiiWare.

I like the Tanks! game but it is too difficult, it should give you an option to continue but just reset your score if you use it.

You just gotta play with someone that can show you how it's done.
Once you see the strategy for each level, it's not that hard to beat alot of the levels.

There is a reason Wii Play is the best-selling non-bundled game of all time, it's basically a $10 game with a Wii Remote included. Anybody who needs an extra Wii Remote and doesn't already have Wii Play should just spend the extra $10. I don't have the game, but I have hear great things about several of the minigames in it.

I am shocked that for the first time in 29 months the game was not in the overall top 10 (although I think that may change soon).

If Resort sells as well as people seem to think it will here Nintendo may not need to bundle anything else with the Wii. Just release new must-have casual titles.

New people could get the following:
Wii-$250
Wii Play-$50
WS Resort-$50
and
Mario Kart Wii or Wii Fit for $50/$90

Jeez Mario Kart DS.  That's fantastic numbers for a game that was released almost 4 years ago.  That's just pure profit now.

I've seen it often lately and I don't understand why they chose MKDS.  It's advertising the family appeal of the DS, but they could've used something newer, more relevant, that could benefit from the exposure.

Yeah I know, I saw one a couple of weeks ago. They'll advertise a 4-year-old DS game but shun ExciteBots? That's just weird.

I guess they're trying to convince older gamers there's more to the DS than just Brain Age. What better way to do that than to push a traditional game that has significant appeal to non-gamers as well?

Mario Kart DS still sells.  Excitebots was the sequel to a not million-selling Wii launch game.  I don't think it's a simple either/or proposition.  And the most recent Mario Kart ad I've seen was more an ad for the DS and DSi itself.

Nintendo gives some games a proper boat launch ceremony, while others games are tossed into the bathtub like an ignored duckie.  When will this childish company grow up and localize/publicize all of its products with a minimum level of respect?  These dead-end projects should just be cancelled and have the project money spent on Wii Music commercials if this is the kind of shitty publisher behavior they're going to maintain to maximize profits.

Maybe ExciteBots would have sold better if they actually advertised for it.

Or maybe Excite Truck just wasn't that good a game?  Advertising isn't some kind of magickal elixir that will quadruple sales just cuz.  I remember Bionic Commando got a lot of ads.  Please ask Capcom about that.  A lot of S-E's 360 games got advertised greatly, and most of them didn't fare so well either.

Meanwhile, Mario Kart DS is the perfect game to accompany DS and DSi into new users hands, which brings in money, and this money, when added to a bottom line, makes a company profit.  And with this profit they can venture into new territories, like, say, making a game about racing Robots.

So the racing robot game could've been scrapped to save more money?

What's that?  Nintendo's in the business of making bad games?  That's why they don't bother to advertise?

Why, they could partner with Marvelous Entertainment!
