In fairness, I think if that was the case, they underestimated the backlash to the plan and I think a lot of devs are looking at options just because they don't trust Unity.

The more I dwell on it, the more confident I am about The Good Place at #1. It's a nearly perfect show that stumbles a little right before the end then completely sticks the landing when it matters.

A fellow human of culture and taste.  I tip my hat to you.

Honestly, I'm shocked it was just a note in the entry of another show that was good, but no where near TGP's quality of every freaking plotpoint in every single episode.

It might be my top live action show ever.

29
I'm sorry, but while I appreciate a list that puts Better Call Saul above Breaking Bad (god damn, that spin off is so good), I just can't take a list missing The Good Place seriously. 🤣

In no particular order, I'd have to say my top shows would include Better Call Saul, Breaking Bad, The Good Place, Avatar: TLA, all of Adventure Time (though Fionna and Cake, which was freaking amazing), and Infinity Train (which I didn't even know existed two weeks ago).

The original list seems light on animation, which is a shame because there's some great animated content out there.

So, like...

Infinity Train.

Go watch it.  Now.

eh.  If Microsoft runs the studios into the ground, the talent will leave.

It's not like Activision is using 99% of their IPs anyway.

32
The thing that makes this email bad us Microsoft's history - especially Nokia - combined with them having an "inside man" gobbling up Nintendo stock on the sly.

33
I can pretty much guarantee that if there was every any chance of Microsoft buying Nintendo (of which there was not), now that these emails have leaked, it will never happen.  To the point where this probably soured all good will Microsoft had seemingly built with Nintendo (Goldeneye, for example).  In fact, Phil's inside man Morfit is likely to wake up tomorrow with a severed horse head in his bed and quickly sell off all Nintendo shares he has acquired.

34
I'd rather a DK'94 remake.

This game was fun, but the Lemmings-esque gameplay has worn out its welcome in the past 20-years.

36
I'll probably pick up the AC pack, even though ACR wasn't my favorite just to show support for possibly getting a Hotel Dusk/Last Window collection.  I was fortunate enough to grab Last Window early, at some point I decided NOA wasn't bringing it over and just bit.  Glad I did, but would definitely replay it on Switch.

37
Interesting.

I *loved* Trace Memory so much that I bought and soft-modded a second Wii to import Another Code: R and play.  ACR was... okay.  Not the strongest game.

But... Hotel Dusk and Last Window... now *those* are two games that deserve a wider audience. And I think Last Window is kinda pricey to get now.

To add on, it seems the newest PoGo update has fixed the issue requiring you to toggle settings every time you pair.

But now, it doesn't want to run in the background very well. :(

Mine came in this past Saturday.

As you stated, the connection issue is terrible.  But Go players should be used to this, as the app has had connection issues with the various iterations of "companion devices" since the first Go Plus was released.

I've owned the Go Plus, Pokéball Plus, a Go-tcha and now the PGP+ and it seems like there's always some kind of magic ritual to get them to work.  And then there's various updates when Niantic just plain breaks them and they won't connect at all.  And when they added Zoura to the game and told everyone who paid actual money for a device to get bent for a month while they tried to work their way through the spaghetti code that is PoGo and figure out how the game works. 🤣

What I have found is that it connects pretty smoothly (Samsung Tablet) to both PoGo and Sleep.  For PoGo, once it's connected, sleep data transfers over with zero issue, but I have to go into the Connected Devices menu and toggle the autospin option off/on for it to start seeing stops.  I do not use it to catch, so I'm not sure about that.

For Sleep, everything seems to work, *except*... either the alarm is too quiet to wake me up or it just doesn't work at all.  And since I was awake at the time it was supposed to go off this morning and it did not, I'm inclined to say it doesn't work at all.  It is a shame, as the "Smart Alarm" feature in the app worked great (the one night I used it).  Hopefully, it's something that's fixed soon.

Could you imagine if they announced a surprise Smash update the same day the SMRPG remake is released?

Marketing!

>we met with representatives from Niantic’s Pokémon Go team

Wait, what?  Have we ever had contact with Niantic before?

This post has the potential to get a bit political, and I want to avoid that, but did you play the original releases and how did you feel about them lining up with the US Invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq?

45
>The Activision Blizzard stockholders would revolt at shutting out the most popular consoles on the market and the board of directors would probably fire the leadership at the next stockholder's meeting, but it would be perfectly legal albeit still subject to scrutiny from the various governments for potential antitrust violations.

Why would Activision shareholders be okay with selling to Microsoft for $69B, but not signing an exclusive agreement with them for $69B?

46
In theory, what's stopping Microsoft from signing an exclusivity deal with Activision similar to what Sony does all the time? Say, for $69B, all future titles are Microsoft exclusive?

It'd be hard to block that deal as Sony has been signing exclusives for so long.  And, like, you can't *make* Activision make Sony games.  Hell, if I were Activision leadership wanting this deal to go through, I'd stop supporting Sony systems out of spite.  "We offered you CoD for ten years.  That wasn't good enough.  Now, you get nothing.  Good day, sir."

I still don't care, as the last Activision game I purchased was Skylanders... but Microsoft mentioned the Hexen franchise, something Activision hasn't done in years, so the chance to get another entry into that would be great.

The $377 million is worldwide for 5 days.

In the US, it made $146 million over the 3-day weekend (and $204 million Wednesday to Sunday)

Whoops.  I missed the "US" in the title.  Yeah, that ain't correct.

Miyamoto is the greatest videogame creator ever and after one movie he's easily on his way to being the greatest film producer ever as well!!! Hideo Kojima must be rolling over in his grave office! His cinematic endeavors can't compete with this.

You know, before the Mario movie, they didn't really have strong female leads.  It was pretty unheard of.  Then they cast Peach.  The rest is herstory.

>leading up to a Super Smash Bros/End Game situation.

People keep saying this... but meh.

I'll go see virtually every movie Nintendo pumps out, but I just can't get excited about a Smash Bros. movie.

Now, gimme a Captain N movie... :D

49
The $204m isn't for all five days.

Last number I saw projected the movie to haul over $370m for the five day period.
