How are they not out of stock in Japan yet? Past few times I've been to the store, I haven't seen any Wii U consoles, or even a display area where they should be.

The original publisher for the Vita version in Japan was Mojang, and I think if you only count post-acquisition sales it loses to Persona 4 Golden.

Haha that's a pretty amusing statistic. Out of curiosity I went to look up the lifetime sales of the current X-Box sales, but wikipedia just says they are "over 10 million" with the latest source from 2014. Apparantly Microsoft doesn't announce sales anymore. It says estimates are between 25-30 million, buuuuuut....

Go look for a Wii U at a retail store (only used ones at GameStop) - I haven't seen any in weeks, and it certainly isn't due to interest in the console.

Sorry for the massive link, but that's Best Buy not having them available online. No BB within 250 miles has them either. Walmart does not have them for sale online either, nor does Target (try to add one to your cart) and Amazon only has resellers and used consoles. It's definitely been recalled.

I think it's better just to kill it now in preparation for only having one console to push. The only game left in production from Nintendo is Zelda anyway, right? There have been rumors that the Wii U version is getting canceled too (might not be true).

I really doubt the Wii U version of Zelda will be canceled. It's not worth the bad PR.. It'll come out at least a month after the Switch version with no marketing or press backing, but it's going to come out.

I honestly think this is just an issue of many stores having extremely low stock on Wii U systems and people just buying a Wii U because "screw it, it's the Holiday season". My local Best Buy serves a city of over 300k, and they've never had more than 3-4 Wii U systems on shelves. This could very much be a case of they sold those off and didn't bother adding more. Hell, finding a 3DS isn't a picnic either.

Yeah, I imagine there was very little Wii U stock in stores, and it isn't going to be replaced with more stock since it's already discontinued. I think Nintendo even made a statement to the effect that if you want a Wii U, the batch currently in stores is the last of it. Everything sells around the holidays, especially if a store was sold out of the other systems. I'd need more proof of a recall to believe that.

I was curious so I looked it up. Even though the digital version of RE6 came out back in March 2016, the retail version didn't release until December 1st. So yeah, the disc is relatively recent.
