Massive, huh. Massive hype, massive comeback, massive world... Could mean a lot of things.

Other stuff isn't interesting, really. I hope for a more gamecube-styled Classic Controller, especially for Smash Bros.

I loved VVVVVV, so I'm not gonna comment on THAT issue.

Foxxconn news is interesting though.

It could be a solution to the lack of internal storage space if Nintendo wanted to, I don't know, actually stay ahead of the game and offer something other consoles don't have, but a mere 512 MB is a joke. Amazon gives you 30 gigs FREE upon using their service.
Amazon only offers 5GB of free space.  That is still a lot more than 512MB.  But so far, on my PS Plus account, 512MB is more than enough.   I have over 30 game saves in my online storage and have yet to crack 100MB of space used.  Unless a save file is overbloated (the largest file I have on there is about 3MB), then 512MB should be more than sufficient for save files.
Noted. I just checked the ECloud service though, and that's what they had on the site... in any case, Nintendo could offer a little bit more, I think, especially if they want to push the system. 512MB implies the same amount of games I bought for my Wii, which was a pretty poor amount.

Or are we going with ridiculous over-the-top speculation?
This is a kytim thread. Realistic expectations and speculation have no place here.
Noted.

Cloud is a technically-infinite storage solution, but nobody has the nerve to go all the way with it because it's cyberspace, not real, and therefore can be lost with a simple global energy crisis.

Hopefully this hasn't been posted previously, but Wii U to have Cloud storage. Looks like it will be used just for  profile and save data so the 512 mb doesn't sound so low when that is taken into consideration.

Quote
- involves the Nintendo Network
- allows for 512 MB of online storage to each gamer
- storage tied to each Nintendo Network profile
- exclusively for save games and player profile data
- launching in Japan first
- supposedly working with Seattle, WA-based Mozy, Inc.to handle this
- source says Nintendo approached Mozy in 2010
- integrated into Wii U channels

Well this would sure-as-hell solve the internal memory issue.

On a more realistic note, Fire Emblem Awakening will be announced. Or are we going with ridiculous over-the-top speculation?

Nintendo stops selling consoles. WE ALL SAW IT COMING!

With all this supposed MMO support for Wii U, I hope Nintendo's gearing up for a MMO themselves...

*cough cough* POKEMON *cough*

Sorry, I had something in my throat. What I meant to say was "Come on, Nintendo. Get on that Pokemon MMO already."

3411
I dunno. Retro handling Zelda, especially this soon after Skywad Sword, just seems so unlikely to me. However, with the Zelda tech demo last year beign a massive tease for an HD Zelda offering, Nintendo better get on getting an HD Zelda out there soon. Because that demo looked GLORIOUS.

See, this is why I love role-palying games. There really are so many ways one can make a player "playing the role" of a certain character or number of characters, and I think we've settled for these stagnant, non-action-y examples for too long. Yes, the Last Story is numbers based and tactical, but on a whole different level in comparison to Final Fantasy, Xenoblade, and other role-playing games. I love this genre so much.

I can't wait to see the Caterkiller lynch mob that forms when it turns out you let us all down with your false hope! &P

Fear not friends, for my source sensed all the i'll will toward me and said this today:

"Watch man, people are going to be blown away by the Wii U news."

Tis true today, as the day it was written.
I hope that I don't have to see you go- I've been noting that signature for far too long now.

Hot damn, give me MOAR Revelations style gameplay and I'm down. Don't make the story heavier than Revelations, though- I enjoyed the balance of total stupidity and high-stakes drama.

3415
Evan, if that is "smart marketing", then almost no game/movie/TV/music company does "smart marketing". Although smaller games can be price less, the size of the download is not the main factor in determining the price.
Huh. I suppose I should have elaborated. My comment was not meant in a "nerd-pushes-glasses-up" manner commenting on the unfairness of the industry- I know the industry is unfair. While I understand that the wholesale price of digital and physical will be the same, companies  should understand that they would benefit greatly from honestly pricing their games based on how much space it takes up and factoring in the necessity to buy more SD cards, etc to cover that cost. I mean, they'd gain more trust and generally be more decent, but that's a risky move by anyone because the losses could also be just as severe. Yadda yadda yadda marketing 101 you all know this and it would be stupid for me to dream ideally about this silliness.

If the Wii U is going to have a crap internal memory that can't hold larger games, that's going to drive up the demand for getting more flash drives to accommodate. However, taking into account that Nintendo doesn't KNOW if "that next game" will take up more than the space your Wii U currently possesses, they can't really price it based on the need to buy additional memory for it... nor can they price on the size of the download because Nintendo would lead us to believe (and they would be partially correct) that file size isn't what counts- it's the overall experience. And hey, Super Mario 3D Land is chock-full of content and doesn't have the loading times of Resident Evil: Revelations, so it's fair that the two are similarly priced, I guess.

I don't know how I expected that last comment to blow over, honestly. But I apologize for the shallowness- I suppose it was too "bright-eyed youth" of me.

3416
Smart marketing implies that digitally distributed games will be priced accordingly with how much space they take up... but that's smart marketing, not Nintendo Marketing.

3417
Honestly- when I purchase a digital copy of something I don't want to have to pay MORE MONEY FOR ANOTHER FLASH DRIVE FOR IT. I don't care if SD cards are the new memory card, I shouldn't have to pay more for it.

Just saying.

I, for one, would enjoy seeing Fludd implemented into a 2D Mario game. you could cycle through his nozzles with the D-Pad or X and Y. I think they could do a whole lot. It would be more interesting that normal 2D Mario, that's for sure.

I must say, I've never actually played this game, and I feel bad about it. As a lover of Metroid, the negative response to the story and characters really pushed me away from getting it- even though it was released on my birthday. The silly story choice of "permission" seemed ludicrous, but I still have always wanted to see how the game played and wanted to experience it for myself. Maybe the discussion over the month can sway me.

3420
I am very interested in this. :)

I think that syncing a Wii U account to a 3DS is definitely going to be possible, and these items will work in tandem with one another, really. They are already pushing connectivity with the Wii U and 3DS, so I don't see why these devices wouldn't be able to interact. Plus, transferring the friend data I already have on my 3DS would be very nice and time-saving.

Pikmin is no Mario, that's for sure. Mario is a platformer with intuitive, easy to learn controls. Pikmin is a strategy dungeon-esque game that relies on challenging the player. If Nintendo is going to make a new IP, it needs to be like Mario, not Pikmin. Intuitive, fun, and replayable. Once you know where the parts/loot is in Pikmin, it loses its replayability.

Goodness, did the 3DS launch even last a month? I remember walking out at midnight feeling bad because I didn't care about getting any of the launch titles... but if the Wii U launch lasted a month or two with some good, quality titles to lead into the next year, that would be righteous.

3424
Well, I only have two 3D classics myself, and both were free... so I can't really complain about the price of them. Furthermore, I have twenty free games because I'm an ambassador, so again... I really don't have much to say about the pricing of the games. However, I've been pleased with the games that I have purchased from the eShop, like VVVVVV, Mighty Switch Force, Pushmo, and Mutant Mudds. Each title was definitely worth what I paid for them, especially when the prices were nowhere near a full-length game's price and still had a great amount of content. With Wayforward adding more levels to Mighty Switch Force, I feel that I'm really getting my money's worth- especially since I can buy four or five games and not reach the price of a full-length title. If anything, I think Nintendo needs to evaluate what they release as full-priced titles, because I got Sonic Generations and that certainly was not even worth the thirty bucks I payed for it.

TL;DR I think they're fine.

3425
Well, I don't know. Assembling half the team from Kid Icarus and going out and finding the other half of the developers for this game might mean they can put in a lot of time and effort.

Speaking of Kid Icarus and DLC, weren't we supposed to hear something about that game recently, or was that just another figment of my imagination...?
