Does Wii U not support 3D on 3D TV? Its competition does so I should assume not right. I agree with BnM a Game Boy player device that plays DS games on Wii U is an obvious choice so likely never going to happen. Seriously who is running this company?

I'm pretty sure it came out at one point that the GameCube was technically capable of outputting 3D, though it was obviously never used, so I'm sure the Wii U can as well.

They would need to recreate the OS and let you plug your SD card into it.

That's essentially what they did for Wii mode already, so they could probably do it with this as well.

If I take my game and SD card and put it in another 3DS does it work?

I imagine it'd work the same as it does with the 3DS now, where it's tied to the system you set it up with and another one wouldn't be able to read from it.

That would be quite a technical feat considering the new 3D Spec didn't even exist until after Game Cube was a memory. Maybe the old 3D spec but no way unless the Game Cube supported HDMI and forgot to tell me.

Yeah, GameCube was designed for 3D. Luigi's Mansion in particular was a product of this design( a fact that Miyamoto pointed out when Dark Moon released). The cube was the future so long ago.

Here's a link : http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/98097-Nintendo-Built-3D-Into-the-Gamecube

In terms of the WiiU, yes it could do 3D if a patch was created. It has the requisite inners to do the job. If they cut down on the OS munching up the RAM, it might be able to output 4K( with regulations of course). After doing a bit of research the Wii U is far more powerful than I/ most have given it credit for.

That's how Nintendo tends to do it, make hardware that's more powerful than it looks, but do it in a way that ensures most developers never figure out how to use it.

Since when? It was public knowledge the GameCube was a beast compared to PS2, N64 killed Playstation, Wii was the first time they made a machine that was severely underpowered but you had to know what you were doing to get to the goods. Unless you are talking about their handhelds in which case they have always been all over the place there.

The GameCube was obviously better than the PS2, but it could pretty much go punch for punch with the Xbox, which looked significantly better on paper, if you knew how to use it.

Just to reaffirm, the GameCube was completely capable of outputting 3D. I remember there's some GameCube game or tech demo that included 3D examples that were never used, this may have been the case with the N64 as well, I don't remember. 3D in general does not require HDMI or an HDTV (movies like My Bloody Valentine 3D do not require a 3D TV, because they use the old 2-color glasses scheme), it just requires 3D glasses and a stereoscopic image.

Though how would this work for downloaded games?  The GBA was pretty simple.  Put the cartridge in and you're good.  The 3DS is more complex.  They would need to recreate the OS and let you plug your SD card into it.  And once they do that you figure hackers would immediately look for some way to exploit that.  If I take my game and SD card and put it in another 3DS does it work?

This is where that ever elusive Unified Nintendo Account would come in handy.

I log in, register the player to my account, and all compatible digital purchases in my account are available to download and play.
Real fukn simple. Not sure why its too difficult.

I can see Nintendo developing a dedicated gaming tablet that could use a unified account system and reduce the 3DS and Wii U to just an OS.

I doubt Nintendo would go the  Gaming Tablet route.  One of Nintendo's big selling point is better controls than tablets and phones.  Now if they could master a way to make a screen puff up in predefined areas to become a button that would be interesting and patentable.

Something like this is cool and close to what I was thinking http://www.microsoft.com/appliedsciences/content/projects/uist.aspx but, those hard buttons would just come forth from the screen.

I'm thinking the tablet will be a GamePad with retractable buttons or some other way to recess the control options.

It's not like they or too far off with the GamePad as it is. It needs about $100 more worth of tech inside and it would suffice for whatever hybrid system they come up with. Now the real interesting thing is that Sharp shapable LCD. That could have some very interesting uses. Snap in/swappable screens. Screens you physically turn to lock in stead of the clamshell design. And don't be surprised if the GameBoy makes a return in the next 2 years...how the hell did I start rambling on about this?

Not hard. Instead of a clamshell design on the unit  you have a clamshell controls.

I know I am a MonHun fanboy, but I find it amazing that MH4G has beat out Smash 3DS on it's own and almost beat out both versions combined.

Nintendo needs to keep this franchise in their stable at all costs. I have to wonder if making it a console exclusive could have been a bigger help for the Wii U over there. Dragon Quest was Wii/Wii U exclusive so it is possible.

I'm going to hope that #5 releases for the Nintendo hybrid system down the road.

Slow sales week I guess. I though DBX would sell more than that.

I am actually considering getting an Xbox One. What would put me over the top is 360 B/C because there are quite a few 360 games I realized that aren't on PS3 that I might pick up on the cheap but I also just started getting serious about Wii gaming again, you know what I discovered about Wii, it sucks as a hard core gamer machine no denying that it sucks as a traditional gaming console, no denying that, but it is AWESOME as a reetro machine, not just the Virtual Console and the B/C with GameCube but damn it had some really good retro style games and I think could be credited withmaking retro cool. Anyways I never noticed how many retro themed games it had I was too busy noticing all the games it didn't have. Put me in the camp of people who would have enjoyed Wii a lot more if I had even known about half the games it had I didn't know about. I guess the same old complaint Nintendo's marketing sucks as usual.
Trying to be a better person, honest.
