Come on, the non-game-slash-mini-game has a fine tradition at Nintendo. Duck Hunt probably sold people on the NES just as much as Super Mario Bros did. My mom and dad didn't play video games, but they gave Duck Hunt a try.

Like I said, you need some patience. Yea, we know that your exclusive types of games aren't out yet. But that is no reason to count the DS out. Those games are coming, and lots of them, so wait a bit and then give your opinion. Also, you make it sound like every single game out is a "non game" - come on, that's not true.

Man, Ian, you must really hate Animal Crossing...

What defines a game? Seriously, I'd like to see your defintion of what constitutes a game so we can see what other non-games are out there.

Artimus: PDA software? Um, well, Linux is up and running on the DS now.

American sales figures seem to be off-limits now. NPD got tired of the "leaks".

Japanese sales figures are all that count now. Nintendogs has officially won the internet.

But to answer your question, its the Nintendo made Dictionary/Translator. Its been up high on the daily charts since release, but that doesn't mean much once you see the pretty low sales #'s

I thought Wario Ware sold more than that, a few months ago it was equal with Super Mario 64 DS, and ever since then it's outsold it every day and every week... anyway, if that's as of June 5th, Touhokudai Gaku Mirai Kagakugijutsu Kyoudoukenkyuu Center: Kahashima Ryuuta Kyouju no Nou o Kitaeru Otona DS Training should move up three places as of now, and be just above Yoshi.

What's their source? Media Create, Famitsu, Dengeki? Because everyone has slightly different numbers. I think what's happened is they only got numbers from when the games were on the chart, because those are the only ones available to people. Not that it matters, pretty much every big DS release has done well.
Quote

As initially predicted at the system's launch, WarioWare has actually outsold Super Mario 64! What IS surprising is how Touch Kirby has done so average, considering it sells over 3/4 million units on the GBA or GC!

That's a stupid thing to say, Touch Kirby is still in the chart and still freaking selling, AND it's doing it on a userbase currently 10 times smaller.

Nintendogs will overtake Super Mario 64 DS eventually, Jump Superstars will rocket to the top of that chart in August, and Pokemon will inevitably top it.

Heh, May NPD data came out afterall! This saddens me

GBA WARIOWARE: TWISTED! $58,390 1,991

Not even 2000 copies? Good god, that's absolutely pathetic for a game that good. Nintendo really need to find a way to educate the morons out there about videogames . Other notable releases last month,

GBA FIRE EMBLEM: THE SACRED STO $1,694,124 53,740
GBA SW EPISODE III: SITH $2,523,299 87,363
NDS SW EPISODE III: SITH $1,663,455 43,726
GBA POKEMON EMERALD Nintendo $30,236,960 882,579

Pokemon Emerald absolutely destroying everything on all systems for the month.

Go check this out.
http://www.gamespot.com/news/2005/06/23/news_6128046.html

Wow, DS has sold nearly twice as much! What really struck me from this survey was that 23% of DS owners have 6 or more games.
The following was also suprising. Pokemon Dash is almost beating The top selling game of the PSP. Wow. I can't believe Lumines isn't higher on the list of top PSP games though. It's one of the best games released for it. Then again, Kirby isn't doing so hot. At least Nintendogs is selling like mad. Hot Shots was out since the beginning and Nintendogs has already outsold it by 50,000.

Nintendo DS
WarioWare: Touched! : 740,000 units
Super Mario 64 DS : 710,000 units
Nintendogs: 400,000 units
Pokémon Dash: 320,000 units
Kirby: Canvas Curse: 190,000 units

Sony PSP:
Hot Shots Golf: Open Tee: 350,000 units
Ridge Racers: 260,000 units
Dynasty Warriors: 260,000 units
Tales of Eternia: 170,000 units

Poga, those numbers are, in fact, quite outdated - Gamespot has got some old numbers there.

Wario Ware reached 800,000 I believe, Nintendogs is at around 560,000 now. Also, Kirby did better than that, I know it. I'll go check the previous sales posts to see.

Some NPD sales are coming in today... according to Games are Fun, the only DS game on the list was Star Wars ep. III, in 17th place, but no PSP game placed on the list at all.  Also, their list is not 100% reliable, apparently not all of the numbers are in.

Pokemon Emerald came in first with almost twice the sales of the second place spot (Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith for PS2).

Edit: Those are for sales in May, and they had no hardware sales when I checked.
That's my opinion, not yours.

CSFB Notes:

• Overall US videogame software sales were up sharply in the month of May with
sales up 30% y/y, faster than the 9% growth we saw in April due to strong
performance from Pokemon and Star Wars titles. 128-bit software sales were up
9% year over year. Handheld software sales were up 156% y/y, benefiting from
another full month of software for the PSP and the release of Pokemon Emerald. The
PSP sold approximately 250K units in its third month. 128-bit hardware sales were
down 17% y/y in May, with PS2 unit sales up 8%, but Gamecube and Xbox down
35% and 40% respectively. This brings the install base of 128-bit consoles to
approximately 51.4 million in the U.S.

• Electronic Arts U.S. videogame sales in May were down 8% year over year. The
company’s sell through should pick up with the release of three titles in June: Medal of
Honor: European Assault, receiving strong initial reviews (~80%), Battlefield 2, which
is off to a very strong start, and Batman Begins. For the quarter to date including May
PC game sales, U.S. sell through is down 29%.

• Take Two’s U.S. videogame sales in May were down 1% year over year. The
company had no new releases in the month, however April’s Midnight Club: DUB
Edition sold 228K units. For the quarter to date including May PC game sales, sell
through is up 49%. The most significant title from Take-Two in the calendar quarter is
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, which released in early June on the Xbox and PC.

• THQ U.S. videogame sales increased 13% year over year in May. The company’s
WWE Wrestlemania XXI performed well with approximately 135K units sold in its
first two months. For the quarter to date including May PC game sales, sell through is
up 12%. The most significant release in the current quarter should be Destroy All
Humans!, which launched this week on the PS2 and Xbox and is receiving solid initial
reviews (~80%).

• Activision’s U.S. videogame sales were down 24% year over year for the month of
May, due to the tough comparison with last May’s Shrek 2.The company released
Madagascar mid month, which sold approximately 46K units. For the quarter to date
including May PC game sales, sell through is up 59% due to the strength of the Doom
franchise.

• Midway’s U.S. sales in the month of May were down 1% year over year. The
company had a difficult comparison with last year due to continued sales of NBA
Ballers, which released last April. For the quarter to date, sell through is down 36%.

• We expect another solid month in June given the number of titles being released,
despite the difficult comp created by last year’s hardware price cuts.
