Well, I've been slowly amassing a bit of a shrine to Nintendo of late and thought I'd take a picture to show everyone...

Haha, nice collection there...I would do the same but I'm lazy and happen to like all my Ninty-related paraphernalia strewn across my room...

I recognize pretty much everything except for the Oracle of Ages thing.  What is that?  A strategy guide?
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

It's a "Choose Your Own Adventure" book -
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0439367107/qid=1118690236/sr=8-3/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i3_xgl14/104-4237107-5418361?v=glance&s=books&n=507846

It's really not very good...  Your "choosing" is fairly straight forward... I don't think you can even make a "wrong" choice...

Aha! The Ages book!

My brother and I both knew of it, we just didn't know it existed. My local stores picked up book #1 (Mario something), then book #2 (Oracle of Seasons). But book #3 (Oracle of Ages) never appeared anywhere, so we figured the series got cancelled.

Now that we know that it exists, we found it online (stupid local stores). Thanks UncleBob!

(Book #4 in the series is a Wario Land book, in case anyone was wondering.)

Goody goody!  We're showing items!  At last, an excuse to show my Game Boys!

My Game Boys (Missing from the pic is the Zelda GBA SP, which I have now)
Some of my games How many can YOU recognize?

Here's what the numbers on the Game Boy picture refer to:

1. Nintendo DS (Third Pillar my eye, it's a Game Boy.)
2. Classic Game Boy (complete with Tetris)
3. Classic Game Boy (loose, but it's there in case I need to play Tetris 2-player!)
4. Limited Edition Swedish Game Boy pocket (1 of 3000)
5. Regular Cobalt Australian GBA SP
6. Limited Edition Famitsu Game Boy pocket
7. US Classic NES GBA SP
8. Japanese (10th? 20th?) Unknown Dept. Store Anniversary Edition GB Color with Mario on it
9. Australian Limited Edition Pokemon GB Color (Awesome because it has Meowth on it, also includes Pikachu batteries)
10. Japanese Pokemon Center Limited Edition Pokemon GB Color with G/S starters (changes colour between gold and silver in the light)
11. Pokemon Center 3rd Anniversary GB Color with R/B starters (starters are outlined in silver, looks awesome)
12. Clear (NOT frosted!) Astro Boy GB Light (the system's plastic is as clear as the front of a CD case - looks awesome)
13. Regular 'Neotones Ice' Australian GB Color
14. Australian Limited Edition Pokemon GB Color (With Pichu and Pikachu, bleh)
15. US Limited Edition Pokemon GB Color (comes with Pokemon Yellow, awesomeness removed due to lack of Meowth)
16. Australian Limited Edition 'Neotones' clear-ish yellow and green (with Australian flag and 'OZZIE! OZZIE! OZZIE!' on it. Blush.)
17. Pokemon Center Limited Edition Rayquaza GBA SP (has a nice indented outline of Rayquaza on it)
18. Pokemon Center Limited Edition Latias and Latios GBA (to celebrate the Japanese release of Pokemon Heroes)
19. Pokemon Center Limited Edition Suicune GBA (to celebrate the Japanese release of Pokemon Crystal)
20. Pokemon Center Limited Edition Celebi GBA (to celebrate the Japanese release of the fourth Pokemon movie, I think.)

...and that ends my report from the scene!
It's got a duck bill, you moron!

Out of pure curiosity, why would you buy so many?  Did you get all of them new/at full price, or were lots clearance/used?

Also, you need to get a Game Boy Player.

I've been collecting GBs since 1999, when I knew some friends in Singapore.  They were the guys that got me hooked on collecting all the crazy variations, which is why the GB Colors are the ones I have the most of.  The Astro Boy GB Light I found at a store in Singapore for AU$70 (which was insanely cheap, especially for a limited edition console that never came out anywhere except for Japan).  Yes, it is legit.  The Swedish GB pocket was a lucky find on eBay, and is probably the most valuable of the lot - there's only 3000 of them in existence, each with their own certificate of authenticity and serial number.  The Japanese GB Colors have a stamp on the inside of the manual to verify their authenticity.

Others I've gotten from Lik-Sang, Play Asia and eBay.  And of course, there have been some that have only been released locally.

A Game Boy Player would be pretty useless to get when I have a Panasonic Q, and I'm not about to pay the ludicrously inflated prices for a Panasonic Q Game Boy Player.  They look ugly anyway.  The Game Boy is a portable system, why would I want to play it blown up on a TV?  GBA games don't even have any novelty features like the Super Game Boy did with the custom borders, colours, and (occasionally) digital sound.

Well, I suppose you can have the rumble feature, but I never could get that to work on other Game Boy Players, and most games don't support it anyway.
