Best Game Evah!
Still got it.
What is this B.S.?:
Four people ended up not appearing: Dasmos, Stogi, TOPHAT, and Fatty_The_Hutt. ... Fatty not being present made him an easy hit target.
I make a decision to not vote (or post) on the first day and that makes me an easy target? Uh, OK...
Anyway, I'm just disappointed by the whole experience. Wasted my time studying up on roles and rules, made a gameplay decision, got booted. Oh well. Maybe next time.
Some advice from a long time highly targeted player. Have tried the laying low strategy to try and avoid being a target Day 1 and it wouldn't matter. It was worse to get eliminated because then I barely played the game so finally decided to just be active the first couple days and ensure I can at least get in a bit of fun in case of an early death.
Because I've been a target early on, I stopped reading up on the rules and roles and just played on the simple premise that if I'm on the townie, I'm just going to hope to vote out Mafia and Other rules or vice versa. Then if I'm actually still around past the first 3 days and have a shot of victory that is when I'll start reading up on the rules and roles. That way you aren't disappointed that all your studying and preparation came to naught by an early exit.
Maybe next time will be that RPG one that was originally advertised? Sounded cool.
If I ever do an RPG theme one (and I don't think that is going to happen at this point), it will just be story-wise with traditional roles. As I explained in the Sign-up thread, the one I envisioned with HP totals for players and levelling up with combined attacks just doesn't seem to work. And with the way Day 1's vote went where you will have the most players playing yet less than half voted, I made the right call to scrap that idea. The Mafia would just be able to pick everyone off in that scenario because of the lack of voting from the townie majority.
Be pretty hard to top the Animal Crossing New Leaf Mafia Game experience but we live in hope.
True. That was definitely a hosting highlight for me as well and I'm glad to hear you still remember and enjoyed it. That said, one never knows when a game might turn out great. If interested, I suggest you read through Lucario's Waluigi Mafia a couple games ago. That game was a pretty fun time and I don't think people were expecting that at the time of announcement.
I know for myself that Mafia 75 is the one I'm gearing up the most for to try and match the effort done with Mafia 64: New Leaf. For the past few games I've been hosting, I'm just trying to provide a smooth game experience with an organized and average hosting job. So, if you are looking for another New Leaf experience, be prepared for that in a few games. Still, I believe one can always find fun in games in an average game than just a big event game.
