TalkBack / Re: Mega Man Zero Collection Review

I hadn't heard this was being released! I've been meaning to play the Mega Man Zero games for awhile, so I'm glad this compilation's available now to make it easier than just tracking down all the GBA games.

Seriously, the fact that Chu Chu Rocket has not come to the DS in any form, especially now with the possibility of DSiWare, is inexcusable. It's like Pac-Man Vs. on WiiWare: there's no goddamn reason it shouldn't have happened yet.

Well, the Pac-Man NES port on the VC is probably why; I believe that's selling pretty well.

Does Ubisoft not usually advertise? I saw a bunch of TV ads for the last Rabbids game when it came out.

It would be cool if the torn up tunic wasn't connected to your health. What I mean is that when you take damage your equipment shows wear, and when you heal it doesn't reset your equipment. I would like to see the shield get scuffed and dented as well. In order to fix up your equipment you could buy new stuff. What I don't want is for it to turn into diablo or something where you have to repair your gear all the time or it breaks and becomes useless. I think that if the changes are all aesthetic only, then it won't effect the gameplay if you don't fix your gear, but it would give you something to spend your rupees on. You could also have link get scraped up during battle, but then have the scrapes and stuff heal when you get hearts.

Yeah, my main concern is that it not effect gameplay; I don't want to get to a boss and discover I'm taking double-damage because my tunic's ripped. But in Zelda games I already usually spend all my rupees on the red & green potions; I never find myself with a ton of them left over at the end of the game.

Well, that's more than Brain Age. So that's a plus.

Yeah, but with Brain Age...you also got Brain Age.

The game collection is admirable, but why so many controllers? lol

I don't know if they still sell the 1,200-piece buckets for $20 but I'd be happy with one of those over a Lego videogame.

I haven't seen those around, and the Lego sets they do sell are way overpriced. I still love 'em (and occasionally purchase one when I feel like it), but overpriced. Lego Stars Wars: The Complete Saga is probably a better deal (if you can even do that kind of comparison).

You have to press the L/R buttons all of the way down until it clicks in order to use the air dodge, which is pretty annoying. The same goes for using the Power Shield technique (deflecting a projectile), and if you didn't press the button in fast enough then you'd raise the shield too early and it wouldn't work.

The shield's size was also dependent on how far down you pressed the button; the further you pressed it in, the smaller your shield would be and the faster it would shrink. There was no advantage for having the smaller shield so it made no sense.

I thought the larger shell was weaker, but I could be wrong. Anyway, I've never had any problem doing air dodging, which is the only "pro" technique I bother to use. And someone above was saying they couldn't press R and Z at the same time...but why would you ever have to do this?

I didn't read any posts in this thread, just want to say I am getting soooo sick of all these band games now. Where is my brand new motion pluss Samba De Amigo?

Just read some of your posts. One thing I some of you said you don't like are the fans. And man i'm with you 100%! I think they really think they know how to play the guitar like that. I was watching some guy play in a GAMESTOP a while ago, no sound just clicking away. His emo friends rolled around, just amazed at what they were seeing... Oh god! don't know why that bugged me so much.

I remember Ian Sane saying something like one company stated that guitar hero was great for starting musicians. And though I never saw the actual press release/interview/what ever, it pissed me off to no end! I just want to shout "LOSERS" at the top of my lungs to those people! And im the guy who has been playing Pokemon for the last 11 years this june since I was 12.

You know i'm just bitter Samba De Amigo hasn't gotten more popularity, the DC or Wii Version. I always hated it when these rock band or guitar hero guys told me I looked silly playing Samba, and they thought they just looked so cool clicking away on their guitars.

Because guitars are cooler than maracas?

I don't understand...what do you get from these eBay sellers? I don't know what you mean by "illegal versions" of games.
Illegal copies. Bootlegs. Unauthorized production of the games. They are made from cheap material too and will often times freeze up or just plain not work.

That's why you never buy from someone with lower than a 98% rating unless you're willing to lose your shirt in a worst-case scenario.

12
What are you talking about?  Pirating hurts the industry because namely these guys are reselling games and taking all the profits for themselves.  You don't have to download games yourself to get illegal versions--just look at lovable Ebay for example.  Ebay really doesn't give two-sh!ts about the illegal actions of it's users and they sell 1000's of copies of games to users who are unaware of what they're buying.  Hell I got stung three times myself (i used to buy alot of used games from them) and no I didn't deal with anyone with a China account) and Ebay didn't even ban the other user's account.  I had to go to Local Police and that took months of my time (one idiot got fined 25K and other 75k--the last guy got away).

So you can't say they aren't hurting the industry.

I just remember the P.N.03 demo not being any fun, which is why I still haven't picked it up even though it's now at about $4.

I'll be waiting to see if Harmonix makes a turntable peripheral for Rock Band.  I much prefer how they look at Rock Band as a "platform" rather than putting out constant rehashes.  Lego Rock Band, Unplugged, and Beatles Rock Band still interest me because they each seem like quality variations on the Rock Band concept.  With Guitar Hero, I just want to tell the whole franchise to firetruck off.  I'm so sick of it.

I don't wanna start a GH v RB argument, because i honestly don't care about either franchise all that much. They're fun to play but if they announced the end of the series today, i wouldn't be upset about it.

Anyway, i just wanna ask for an explanation of why you feel the way you do about it. Usually when i ask that question, or see it asked, I end up with the same responses and it usually boils down to music zealots (or wanna be music zealots) stating how Harmonix employees are all musicians so they know music and how activision/neversoft are just corporate "posers" or whatever. It's this false sense of "**** the man!" attitude that fanboys spew out and THAT is what I'm sick of, and it makes me want to tell everyone "firetruck off" (lol).

Again, i'm not really arguing for GH or trying to put down RB. I'm just curious as to why you feel the way you do. I've seen your comments in other related threads enough to know you're not one of these fanboys, and you're not an idiot that spews garbage out for the sake of spewing garbage out, so I want to answer that intelligently, knowing that you speak for yourself and not other fans of RB.

I know you weren't addressing me, but I personally don't prefer one over the other; Guitar Hero just constantly makes itself look bad by copying Rock Band, which is ridiculous as it was the one who came out first.

Give me a Pokemon MMORPG.

Ew, no.

16
I didn't mind the slow pace of the animation in the Stadium games, mainly because I liked the rest of the presentation too much to complain (great music, and I loved the overly-enthusiastic announcer). I cared for it less in the GCN and Wii games, tho, because I didn't like presentation as much. But yeah, the animations for the weather conditions kinda bugged me too, since they show up every damn turn.

Oh, and here's the announcement: http://www.pokemon.co.jp/info/game/g090508_01.html

17
I'll definitely be getting none of these (I'm still enjoying the first Rock Band when I get the chance to set it up). How much fun is a button-press turntable?

18
Quote
What would be the point? Even if a third dimension were added, it'd still be the same game with a different presentation.
That's a very close-minded view of Pokemon.  Part of the thrill of Pokemon is discovering the Pokemon world.
I suppose that's true. I was thinking more about the battle system which, as the Pokémon Stadium games have shown, is just as mind-numbing in 3D as it is in 2D. In fact, since they drag on ever longer, they are probably even more boring in 3D.

Those remarks about Zelda: OoT are so wrong that I'm not even going to comment on them...

I like the battle system, even in 3D; how is it much different then what's in your average Final Fantasy, anyway?

Not so much being convex, but they have a lot of resistance and they don't click and hence they are awful for marvel. Analog buttons are terrible and there are better control alternatives for literally every non-racing game

Agreed, for some reason my 360 face buttons sometimes "stick" and take a little time to pop back up and there is no foreign or sticky substance like soda spilled on it.  I am still to this day stunned that Microsoft screwed up on the easiest aspect of a controller, the D-pad. But then again the best first party Dpad this generation is on the Classic Controller.

Bizarre...I can't agree with a single one of these complaints and I'm far from a Microsoft partisan. Maybe I'm just easily pleased? And ick on the Classic Controller; anytime I'd have a chance to you it I always pick the Gamecube controller (and it's so awkward connected to the Wii remote to boot). Plus it has the Control Stick in the same uncomfortable position as the Dualshock...not a fan.

It'll the telepathic Virtual Boy for the 21st century! Hope it works well in the medical sector, though.

21
Perhaps it's because the 360 Dpad is made of fail, and because the raised convex face buttons doesn't work well for fighting games.

Convex?

22
I've played MvC2 for the original Xbox with that system's "S" controller, and that felt fine; using the 360 controller should be even better.

23
I dunno; I judge these things by how fun they are, not their artistic value. Hence, I own all 3 Halo games and hated Bioshock. And I'll add that I also haven't been too keen on the DS' lineup since most of the "good" games are in genres that I'm not a big fan of (I'm unlikely to be first in line to buy the Dragon Quest remake or Contra 4, for instance), and I also don't have enough occasions to actually play the damn system in order to finish these games, which is why it takes me month to beat a Pokemon game that others get through in days. So I guess I can see the appeal of having an endless amount of ROMs at one's disposable in order to dabble in each game, but I can't condone it.

You can use Rit dye and dye the entire system any color you want. All you need is a small Phillips and a tri-wing screwdriver, and a big pot. Not too sure about the balance board, but the controllers and system will work.

"Dump your electronics in liquid! Don't worry, they'll be fine!"

it doesn't seem worth it. hell it doesn't seem worth getting component cables since quality is better but it only shows the flaws more of not having an HD console in mind.

HD games have graphical "flaws" too, and they have less of an excuse for them.
