Is the Konami code like the DiVinci code except it involves decoding the location of the Vampire Killer?

Left Right Left Right, ABBA Select, or something like that, was it not?  It's almost ingrained into me brain.

Contra was first.  I seem to remember it releasing before Gradius.

The code was first used in the 1986 release of Gradius for the Nintendo Entertainment System but was made famous in the Contra series.

I didn't look at the Wikipedia article above but I'm sure its:

Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A, Start.

I often entered in a second B and A out of habit, as well as a Select before the Start in Contra to select 2 players.

Gradius definitely came out before Life Force, but I played Life Force first.  Stupid volcanoes in Gradius's first stage are a real pain.

I'm surprised that Smash Brother hasn't played Super Mario RPG.  Are you European?  Because every gamer really should've already played it, it should be a crime not to have.  And I'm also surprised at everyone here who doesn't know the Konami code.  Tsk, tsk.  Oldschool/retro gamers are a dying breed, at least the VC gives you people hope!  :P

If the VC lasts for more than one console's life span, we may not see all the good games released within five years.  >_<  But if they release them all within the Wii's generation, then they may make them incompatible with the next console and then release them all again but a few at a time.  Which is the greater evil?  0_0

They can keep the VC Mondays going for a long while yet, but unless they make original VC games that are good, be prepared for many sucky Mondays.  There are only so many AAA games, and the pressure to release them must be balanced with having enough good material to release later.  I'd hate to be part of the crew at Nintendo responsible for making the VC decisions.

Would they raise the price of RPGs a bit to compensate for longer gameplay?

It's possible. Nintendo has stated all along that the prices they are currently charging for the VC games were only starting points. In theory they could charge more (or less) for future games, at their discretion.

"Though I suppose Kirby 64 and Paper Mario are more fresh, and I didn't originally own them, hmmm."

I've never played Kirby 64 but Paper Mario is worth getting, unless you hated the Cube sequel.  The lack of Rare does hurt though.  I personally can't think of any N64 game I want that I don't already own.  It's the only console I can think of where I have every game I want for it.

"I will be buying Mario RPG when it comes out because I've heard such great things about it and it will last me long enough to be worth my entertainment dollar. "

Yes!  Excellent idea.  My second favourite game ever.  That means I like it more than Majora's Mask!!  Holy crap, eh?

I think one of the TurboGrafx 16 games costs 800 Wii Points instead of the usual 600.  R-Type, if I'm not mistaken.

Supposedly some Super Famicom games available to Japanese Wiis, like The Legend Of Zelda: A Link To The Past, cost like 900 Points.

Perhaps when the later (read: better, longer, more epic) NES games come out, the early NES sports games (Baseball, Ice Hockey, Golf, etc.) will be reduced in price.  Which would make anyone who bought those games feel bad that they spend a full 500 Points on them now.  But obviously I'd rather pay 500 Points for the best NES games later, than for them to charge twice as much and justify it by saying "it's a deal because there's more than twenty times the gameplay as Urban Champion!"  >_<

I finished all three games on a rental, but the two N64 games mentioned I'd purchase to play again.  But yeah, it's funny, the N64 section does seem lacking.  When you pointed out that you already own all the games you wanted for it, I'm pretty much the same way, after buying those two there won't be much else, if any.  Oh, Mischief Makers is one I'd buy to replay where I don't already own it.  (What else did I do in the N64 years?  I don't remember.  >_<  Probably Pokémon, at least after 1998.)

You can type in Virtual Console Mondays in the search bar on the home page.

Wasn't Bible adventures an underground, indie release? Or did it actually get released?

Wikipedia talks more about these unlicensed games. Bible Adventures was published by a company called Wisdom Tree and was, as one would expect with Nintendo's no religion policy, unlicensed.
Thanks for listening.

It was noon here in Toronto when they were available. You can get: Xevious (NES), R-Type 3 (SNES), and MotoRacer (TGX) I think.

Anyone know how MotoRacer is?

I bought Toejam and Earl (just as good as I remembered it) and Dungeon Explorer (we had 7 people in the room and I figured why not). I have $6 left over and I'm thinking about more 5 player games.
