Nintendo has made a new system update available to Nintendo 3DS owners.

Users who upgrade to Version 7.2.0-17U will gain the option to set an email address in the Parental Controls settings. Once this email address is set, a user can later have instructions sent there in case of a forgotten Parental Controls PIN.

As is typical, the update also includes minor adjustments and general improvements to system stability.

The system’s most recent update occurred in December 2013 and brought with it a boatload of enhancements, including Nintendo Network ID support, Miiverse integration, and the removal of the system transfer limit.

Is the password still a 4-digit, numeric only value?  The email feature is a great addition... but it would be nice if protection for parental controls could be a bit stronger.

I believe the eShop has been modified as well. The menus look slightly different, and you can exit to the home menu when it's loading (no more house symbol with a cross through it when you attempt to hit Home)

It doesn't do that on my eShop.

It doesn't do that on my eShop.

Then get a better eShop. I mean, really!
Whoever said, "Cheaters never win" must've never met Khushrenada.

Yeah, Kitt, you're right, you still get the home with a cross through it when it's loading. I took the word of someone on Gamefaqs about that and it ended up not being true.

But I think the eShop does look a little different on the touchscreen when you put the cursor over a game icon. Not even sure if that change pertains to the system update or not.
