Actually you'll have to add in MGS's digital downloads as well, hense Peace Walker is selling on par with other PSP titles (which isn't saying much). Why would people get the download version vrs UMD? Faster load times, less noice, and saves a little battery power.

I highly doubt more people downloaded the game than bought it physically. That's the sort of spin Sony and Konami would try if they had the numbers to back it up (and is actually the spin IGN used. I wonder if they would feel different if it were a DS title? I know Pachter would.) Since they didn't, they obviously don't.

Metal Gear is one of those games that the fans and consumers like to buy physically. That it flopped that badly is pretty damning in comparison to the rest of the series.

If Super Mario Galaxy 2 continues at a rate of about 20K a week, it will pass up the first game in 12 weeks or so, I believe. I wonder if it can make it...?

I don't think it will. Odds are the sales rate will continue to go down. If its 20k this week, next week it may only be 17k or something, then 15k the next and you know..

The week before, it was around 17K, so it grew by about 4K from last week. So you never know.

Yeah, I guess so. I hope it will have long enough legs to be relevant by the time the holidays hit, because if it can do that then it should get a significant boost in sales then. But the question is can it last that long?

It took Need for Speed: Undercover a little over 20 months to sell those 100K copies (it released in November 2008). I wish that NPD did something like this, let us know when games cross certain sales marks.

Looks like Devil Kings 3 is a bigger hit on the PS3 than on the Wii. I wonder what the differences are in each game, aside from the PS3 version having HD graphics?

Oh, and Galaxy 2 falls out of the top 10 again.

From what i've seen and read, Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes is the same on both systems. I am really disappointed that the PS3 version outsold the Wii version.

If Wii games can't compete on equal terms with PS3/360 games then Nintendo needs to take this as a hint that its time to seriously start considering a beefed up Wii 2 that can be graphically and computingly competitve.

It also helps that the PS3 has had a good number of games similar to this since the very beginning, which as a result has build up a good fanbase for these games on the system. It's just like how here in America, the 360/PS3 have had a large number of FPS from the beginning which is why FPS developed a large audience on both consoles early on.

If the 3DS is any indication, then the Wii 2 will have a shader model. That will single handedly fix most of our 3rd party graphics issues.

Not to mention that in July 2009, Nintendo released Wii Sports Resort which was the number 1 game of that month selling over 500,000 copies. The fact that the Wii is doing slightly better this year even though it didn't have any major releases this July, over last July when they released one of the systems biggest selling titles, shows that the system is still in great shape.

Hell, so far Wii hardware sales have actually been up almost every month this year over what it did in 2009 so far. If this trend continues then the Wii is going to have another killer holiday season, which pretty much guarantees that the Wii HD isn't coming out until late 2012 at the earliest.
