Sega has said multiple times that they are happy with MadWorld's sales so far. I don't know why they'd lie about that, but it's hard to believe they'd be happy with these numbers.

Sales trend. My guess is that probably understand how games sell on Wii and so far Madworld is pacing just fine with games like CoD: WaW and others that sold below average in their opening month.

They aren't rushing to write the game off as a failure just yet.
There is atleast one more sale coming within the next week (I haven't bought it yet), so they are probably hoping that the game slowly builds up momentum
like Boom Blox & No More Heroes.

We also have to keep in mind that many people decided to rent Madworld instead of buying it because of the length.

but it doesn't mean it failed yet. give it time.
'm sure it would have seen more immediate success if it tied into a Wii version.

I wouldn't call that being written off. It's 2 individual people (not the companies) and one of them says he plans to buy the game.

With few exceptions, any time a developer has truly taken the time to put the effort into making a truly great game on either the Wii or DS, it has gone on to become a success in time. Madworld's closest relation on Wii are the No More Heroes titles which also started slow and eventually became quite successful considering their relatively small budget.
As for GTA:CTW. There hasn't really been anything like it on DS before so it's going to take time for handheld gamers to discover it but eventually they will. Didn't GTA3 on PS2 start off slow before eventually becoming the mega-hit we remember it as?

1UP has already declared that the poor first-day sales of Deca Sports 2 in Japan is proof of a "Nintendo Crash".

I hate 1UP.  How can a site with so many good writers have such poor content?
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

I was gonna make a similar comment. LOL. I hear the first game was garbage, if thats true, why would I want to invest in a second one? If later down the road I find out that the 2nd one was pretty good, maybe I would be inclined to check out the 3rd one.

Sequels usually succeed or fail based on the previous game. If A was good then B will benefit. But if B was bad its usually C that will suffer. Even if C is a better game than A, B has set it up to fail. Its just the way things work.

Isn't the Wii getting an exclusive Monster Hunter and Dragon Quest. I think it will be just fine in Japan.
Besides why bother with Deca Sports 2 with Wii Sports Resort coming so soon.

That is why I don't read 1UP, they are just trying to attract visitors. First, they went by first day sales (which is not that important). Also, the first Deca Sports started off really slowly too.

HA! Madworld is #9 on Wii chart. That's saying something.

GTA at #5 for both DS and overall portable charts is also nice to see. I'd love to see one on Wii now since I want a new sandbox game to replace Godfather. I do prefer the Godfather universe to any GTA universe so far but I am having fun with CTW.

Lego Star Wars just won't quit. Lego Indy did break 1 Million and Lego Batman is close too. Those games are pure money on Wii. I'm surprised we haven't seen anything on a new one. They may be saving it for E3. I know there was a Harry Potter rumor but they may save that till the last film dual-ology is released. I do hope the next Lego themed game is a bit more innovative though.

You really can't call No More Heroes a success--namely it's sales increased because it dropped to $20-10 after the first month.  So yeah, people picked it up once it hit the barginbin but alot of games do the same.  The only plus to NMH was it was the developemost cost was kept low but Madworld had alot of ads (both TV and mag and that's costly). I think Madworld will still get enough sales to be somewhat profitable to see a sequel.  Still sad though, Madworld was freaking great.
